So what does it feel like to be on the market and have the Jets be the only team interested?
Aaron should retreat to his hole and reflect on the life choices that got him to this spot....

He is obviously a great player, which is why we want things to work out so that he's -not- our starter. Got it.

Just making fun of the double-speak by Murphy, we all know I'm not advocating to "run it back(wards)" with Rodgers.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 16:06Well I guess Love could get on a motorcycle and be out for the season... That would not work out so well for the Packers...

Nice quote lol
I have always felt Gutey was made to be the bad guy with the Love draft pick while all along it was Murphy that hated Rodgers. Not enough room in the building for Murphy and Rodgers ego.

I do not believe in the concept of a GOAT. You simply cannot compare the different eras of football. Many of the more recent greats would probably not fair so well when QBs actually had to take hits and the rules did not protect them like they do today. I will always remember Marino as one of the greatest QBs I have ever seen. What a release that guy had!

You are still thinking of Dan Marino. That's the point. So he's not "forgotten." Marino is remembered as an all time great and Rodgers will be too. I can't understand how this can even be a debate.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 12:55When was the last time you thought of Dan Marino as better than Tom Brady? He was, you know. But Marino never won a Super Bowl while Brady won lots of them. The same will be true for Rodgers, 1 Super Bowl does not make a GOAT, after 10 years he will be largely forgotten.Captain_Ben wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 10:34Lol, not a chance he is forgotten. He is already one of the very GOAT's even if he hangs it up right now.German_Panzer wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 10:29
Interesting take. Possible that we misjudge #12‘s true agenda. Maybe in 2011 he wanted to become the GOAT but as years flew by he recognized its impossibility and switched into a pragmatic style. I really had the impression early in his career that he was all in to become a legacy QB. As of now he will be forgotten in 50 years, they‘ll only remember Brady, maybe Peyton.
I have to admit though, Marino is still ranked very high, better then Rodgers according to some evals, so many great ones over the years.Yoop wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 13:22who told you Marino was better then Brady? hogwash, a completely different era, and most people wont forget either one, no one has forgotten Bart Starr, Unitas, Jergenson, and no one will forget Aaron Rodgers either, whats far more likely, and it gives me no pleasure to say it, is that in 5 years no one remembers who Jordon Love is.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 12:55When was the last time you thought of Dan Marino as better than Tom Brady? I think using SB's though to grade QB's leaves out to many, and it takes more then just a great QB to win them, and Marino is a classic example of that
Rodgers was on his way to getting himself and the team more accolades, same can be said for a bunch of other QB's over the years on these top 25 list, and for reasons not of there making, coaching, scheme, and of course WR talent determine the slot ranking as much as individual talent, dance partners make a huge difference.
Marino had the Marks Brothers, Clayton and Dupree ( I had to look up the last names), what a duo, 130 TD's between the two, Clayton finished his career with us in 93?????
Marino may never have the notoriety of Brady, SB wins will make sure of that, But you made a good point Skeptic, I should have done some research before being so quick to disagree.
It is better if Murphy just never talks about any discussion point revolving Aaron Rodgers.
lordy.
thats the kind of comment that will make Rodgers wait till after Free Agency starts just to screw the Packers.
Or maybe he tells the Packers he wants to come back and then littly Murphy finds himself in a real bind.

Can't imagine he would say that if the deal wasn't done. My guess is Rodgers isn't sure he wants to play and Murphy is trying to get the decision before Monday. I still think Rodgers isn't crazy about having to put all the time into playing with a new team and new receivers. That's what is holding this up.

Amen to all three points. No idea how Murphy can run a multi-millionen dollar org. and talk like that. I also verified the tweet to my best ability and it seems legit bc its shared/wired by respectable journalists.Drj820 wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 17:01thats the kind of comment that will make Rodgers wait till after Free Agency starts just to screw the Packers.

I’m looking at his words exactly and I don’t see anything that is unclassy. He gave a straightforward answer to the question. “Yeah…” means that YES there is a scenario where AR could play for GB in 2023.

I think that Rodgers wants to play and doesn’t have much problem playing with the Jets. He actually shared that he would’ve also considered the Panthers, but we know what the Panthers did today.
We know that the Jets knew that lots of money would be involved. They knew this before they flew out to Cali. (At least they knew it if they’ve been monitoring the Packers-huddle.com forum!) The question is only about how much they are willing to eat of Rodgers’ contract to pull off the trade.
I think that Guty and the Pack can hold firm until sometime on Saturday before yielding some cash to the Jets and pull off the trade.
P.S. The Packers fully know that the gravity of this situation is that they will be best suited to KEEP Rodgers than to trade him. The contract assures that. But if Rodgers is to retire…

He literally said, "yeah, if things don't work out the way we want them, yeah, we would"Scott4Pack wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 17:51I’m looking at his words exactly and I don’t see anything that is unclassy. Murphy literally said publicly that the Packers prefer to not have Rodgers play for the Packers next season in a public statement while Aaron Rodgers is still a member of the team.
This guy has to go. So, so stupid.

See, that’s the thing about semantics. Literally, the Packers and Rodgers BOTH are deciding what they want. Everybody knows at this point that the Pack wants to move on with Love. And everybody knows that Rodgers hasn’t cleared anything off the list of his options. They’ve gotten to where the Packers FO is able to discuss openly what they would do. Rodgers is choosing to hold his cards closer to the vest yet. But he gave the Pack permission to decide what path they would want. That’s why it isn’t bad what Murphy said. It’s straightforward and honest. And Rodgers knows that. Nobody is pulling any punches.go pak go wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 18:01He literally said, "yeah, if things don't work out the way we want them, yeah, we would"Scott4Pack wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 17:51I’m looking at his words exactly and I don’t see anything that is unclassy. you just don't like the message, but Murphy is hoping for max compensation, he said the best thing he could to point out Rodger is still a very good QB, and if he does come back he probably will be the starter, who the hell would pay someone 50 mil to ride pine, and besides that till proven untrue he still is the better QBgo pak go wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 18:01He literally said, "yeah, if things don't work out the way we want them, yeah, we would"Scott4Pack wrote: ↑10 Mar 2023 17:51I’m looking at his words exactly and I don’t see anything that is unclassy. I don't care for Murphy that much, but it has nothing to do with that comment.
