Apparently we are front runners for Jaylon Smith now.

You watch, I want no part of Smith but this will be the one time Gute turns dealmaker and signs him.

The one time I hope Rodgers exercises his newfound veto powers...

I would have rather we took Gilmore as long as where bringing someone in, Barry knows we need to generate pass rush though, if ya can't buy a DT then a lber will have to do, I think it's a smart move even though Smitty can't run a 4.4 any more, he can still go after the QB and play the run, we have Campbell and even Burks for coverage, good move.

Also hate this for Rivers

Have to wonder if they'll try Jaylon at Edge. He didn't do it much in Dallas, but has experience. Otherwise might be time for a Tipa call-up.

Burks and Smith both can play edge.

Wouldn't really want either at the POA on a power sweep or anything, but situationally for sure.

Shame, I had liked Rivers, liked him more than Garvin.

Rivers was fun to watch preseason. He was far and away the least impactful player on the field in the regular season.

from the Athletic

Rodgers on Dillon

“He’s just a different type of back,” Rodgers said of Dillon. “He’s a cold-weather, Green Bay back that we’ve had over the years. But it’s good to see him get some carries in September and October before it gets cold, and hopefully it gets cold here pretty soon. Smart kid, really smart kid, and that’s what I love about him. He is really taking that step and becoming a three-down back.

“We do a thing where we verify as we break the huddle — responsibility, route, protection stuff — it’s just something I’ve done for years with the back, kind of the first thing that happens when we break the huddle and then we do eye contact and some sort of verbal exchange. And it’s a really good marker of where those guys are at mentally. And, man, he’s been really sharp, he really has, since training camp. I’ve been really impressed with that. As the leader and someone who likes to use my brain to win games, when somebody can match that preparedness like he has, it gives me a lot of confidence. I’m really proud of that kind of jump that he’s made in the past year. Running the ball, he’s a bowling ball. He’s got a lot of weight behind the ball and did a nice job running the football.”

High praise from Rodgers. His faith in management not cutting a player he sings accolades for is apparently restored.

Nuggets:

Packers' defensive rankings didn't change this week: 6th in yards, 20th in points

The Packers have won 4 straight games, two by double digits, and still have a negative point differential on the year (-2) due to the magnitude of the week one blowout.
