When all is said and done, its still the $40+ million cap hit this year we all expected. But interesting to see what was all jockeyd around.
Not a bad way to pretty much force Rodgers into playing at least 2 years.
It could also set up for more Rodgers drama come next off-season. It'll be nice to view it from the outside-in for a change.
As long as he loses and plays 65% of the snaps....I'm happy.

In addition to the record against da Bears, the WAY that 12 beat da Bears was beyond description amazing. Lions too.

Let's see how his first exchange with the notorious NY media goes. :munch:

They are giving him softballs. Not unexpected. He is answering politely but seems like he is giving less up-front responses than is typical of him - seems like he is being a little guarded.

Not surprised. I'm sure he and everyone wanted to make sure he got off on the right foot and nothing controversial came out. At least in the first one.

So we gave him a HUGE extension last year and it wasn't enough to get him to work through OTAs with new WRs but now he's motivated. Definitely shows it was time to move on.

I hope the Jets help him boost that cell reception as well.

I will say the finality of this whole situation, seeing Aaron in Jets gear and speaking as a Jet, was a little tougher to take than I thought it would be. Excited for this Packers season and the future, but I found myself a little more contemplative about Aaron's time with the team and what it meant to me than I anticipated I would.

Rodgers had a hint of timidness in his voice to me. Maybe even a little nervous. He looks sharp.

If he’s losing they shut him down before he plays 65% of the snaps. If Rodgers fails no doubt you fire the coach, GM, and hire someone who shuts Rodgers down so they can cut their losses.

Best case scenario for us, Week 11, the Jets are still in the playoff picture at 5-6. They lose that game. Now Rodgers has played over 65% of the snaps. The Jets shut Rodgers down because they want to see what they have in Zach, they lose the rest of their games and end the season at 5-12 giving the Packers the 5th overall pick in 2024.

The thing that bugs me--the reason I'd rather have had two 2023 2nds than a 2023 2nd and a conditional pick--is that I really wanted to see how I'd feel watching him play for another team and just let my rooting interest--for, against, apathy--develop naturally and internally. I really didn't want to care about the Jets' outcomes this year.

And the 65% thing does help with the boost from 2nd to 1st. But the needing them to lose to get a better draft pick--an org whose coach (Saleh) I've been a fan of for a while; an org that has been downtrodden and I would normally enjoy seeing rise; an org a couple of my friends root for and for which I just happen to own an authentic 1970s trucker hat somewhere--it doesn't sit well for me.

I hate a handful of teams. I really really like watching the Bears lose, the Saints lose (though that chapter may be done; hated Payton and Brees), and the Cowboys lose. But even the Cowboys, it's more like the Vikings--where I want to see them be good enough to have hope and then lose in big important games.

But for the most part, I like my fanhood to be more positive to root FOR and not against things. I don't like rooting against the Jets just for selfish reasons, but I know I will. I would have been interested to see how my emotions reacted when watching Rodgers on the Jets if nothing was on the line for the Packers. Now I'll never know

Odds are he won't lose THAT much. 65% of snaps is had by the 12th game. Every team is in playoff contention by Thanksgiving.

Rodgers being shut down for a 2nd round pick is not a threat.

even then, that 2 becomes a very high 2..which is fine
