I want to gripe about 140+ yards rushing given up.
Then, I also want to remember:
1. Week 1
2. Playing a good offense
3. Still containing a great scrambling QB (mostly)
4. Team looks sloppy overall
5. Elite RB
Conclusion? I really don't know what to say. It wasn't adequate. Everybody would say so. But I'll defer to the rest of September for now and look at the larger body of work.
traction, poor footing, leads to poor tackling, Scott if ya can re watch, you will see players lose footing and even fall down trying to react to change of direction runs, Walker, Cooper, Alexander, most of our players in fact at one time or another could only reach tackle because there feet where churning up tundra.
Yoop, I wasn't talking about poor tackling. They looked sloppy overall. And frankly, they played on the same turf as the Eagles. So no pass on that.
I was responding to the point that we gave up 140 run yards which was the lead in of your post, imo poor footing was responsible for a good part of that, we gave up a few huge runs to Barclay that brought there carry Average up to 3.8 YPC, minus those big runs and it's possibly 3.0 ypc or less.
my point is the defense as a whole wasn't as bad imho as it seemed.

Yup. 29th in points and 29th in yards is not bad for one game. Good thing they have 16 more to go.
Teams that gave up 22 points or more a game in week 1. 3-13
Teams that gave up less than 22 points a game in week 1. 13-3
But, but, but the QB will win it!

Everyone knows week 1 doesnt really matter. Stats like ppg, dvoa, epa, ect. don't actually come into play until after a quarter. Sustained data is important for those metrics.

Quoting '96 Brett Favre, here. "Bet against them." Their best is yet to come.

Week 1 is like the Vikings superbowl, let him have it. Doesn’t matter we were playing a top 5 offense on a skating rink and they were playing the Montreal Canadiens posing as a professional football team.

Top 5 offenses based on what? Last year? Last year doesn't count. Wait, for this argument it does. Right? Wait, they weren't top 5 last year. And, since this year doesn't count yet, remember, nothing is set until at least the 1st quarter of the season, you can't count them as a top 5 offense.

I mean if the Packers defense is 3rd to last this year...wouldn't that make Philly's offense 3rd this year?

the win loss column hardly represents the talent level of either of these defenses, a slippery field is a far huger liability for a defense then for offense, so how can you discount that reality and act like these first game point totals define anything.
I have no idea what the but, but, QB stuff is about?????

Well, I was told week one doesn't matter. Just going with that. You can't claim one is a top 5 offense and then turn around and claim the defense rank doesn't matter. So which is it? Make up your minds.

Giving up just 10 points is to be applauded.
Having a legitimate Safety (or two) is really nice.
Would be nice to see the OLBs a bit more of a presence.
Tenn has scored 17 points in each of its first two games, both losses and Will Levis is not good.
Got to hold the Titans to 17 or fewer points next Sunday.

They got the job done today. Need to tighten up the run defense, we were giving up explosives to Taylor, but that's an elite RB with a good OL.
Gonna have to bring it again with Willis likely getting at least one more start

The Packers were so freaking good on 3rd down yesterday. Some to the help from the Colts dropping balls but the Packers were fantastic nonetheless. Only allowed 2 third down conversions and the first one didn't happen until I believe the 3rd quarter.

I didn’t really get the Quay pick at the time. I felt if you were going to take an ILB why not just take the true and natural one in Devin Lloyd? I was excited because we needed another LB and we never invest in the position so I hoped we ended up with our Willis/Bowman but man is he awful.
I’m not quite sure how you even keep him in the field at this point and how was this not identified in camp? If he does continue to play over guys like Duffy and Cooper it really is an indictment on the coaches. We have back to back really bad weeks from Quay on top of pretty average seasons at best.

The Quay tape is pretty bad but not horrendous imo. He’s only blocked out on one play. The rest are poor angles, tackling too high and dropping a pick. He’s athletic enough to be in position to make more plays than McDuffie. What McDuffie is doing on this tape doesn’t look much better. He gets completely owned by a TE on one of them.
Edit: watched a bit more and all but 2 plays are against a nickel front. The only ones that aren’t Van Ness takes the bait on a screen (he also LOLs by Taylor one of the nickel plays) and the other Gary crashes in and loses contain immediately. Plenty of blame to go around.

That’s AJ Brown, no slouch of a human being. Bullard took on the attempted block and destroyed him. That’s saying something.
