Our ability to hit on OL in Round 4 has been crazy, second only to Round 2 WR.
So yeah, it's gonna be Newman. Watch.

That goes back a long time, but focusing more recently, we seem to kind of be an OL factory, as of late. Not only are we drafting/signing guys that can play, but a combination of coaching the correct techniques and scheming them to work as a unit, it's been impressive. If you look at some of the PFF numbers from last year and notice Turner and Wagner near the tops of lists and then look at this preseason and find Myers as the #1 OC, Newman as the #1 OG, and Van Lanen up near the top of lists at OT, it doesn't seem like a coincidence. I think all of these guys are good, but I am starting to think they would likely end up looking a lot worse on another team and in another system. Kudos to the Packers, because that is absolutely invaluable just to keep plugging guys into a system and finding success, especially at OL.

I think we are all guilty of piling on Kevin King with a select few certainly leading the charge, but I have to say, after listening to him, today, I think I like Kevin King a lot better than I did this morning.
I don't know if I have ever listened to one of his pressers before.

I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
Experience has it's value, but I feel like being forced into this is probably best for our current and future roster.

Please Innis Gaines. PLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEE beat Henry Black for playing time.
Wow so Redmond is done done? Probably a net positive for defense but he was an asset on STs.
I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
Gaines looked really good on STs.
However, I was rather disappointed in his lame-ass attempt at a tackle vs Jets TE to stop a TD. That "throw a shoulder crap" won't cut it in the NFL and if he wants to play Safety for MY team, that will be the last time he doesn't wrap up.
That's basic Safety 101 stuff.

Henry Black is the type player ya never hear about, and thats actually a good and bad thing, bad in that us fans don't get to do the ouh and ahhhh over the top yells due to wow plays, but good in that he just does his job play in and play out, theres a lot of good to be said about that to, he did cause a late game fumble though two weeks ago and has been pretty good on ST's , I'd imagine the coaches love his consistency.
shocked to see us IR Redmond, why not just cut him and do a injury settlement and let him latch on with a new team.
haha, guilty as charged lol. actually though I think KIng is being kind to Pettine, KIng is not a good matchup against faster WR 1 on 1 coverage, but then who is, Pettine should have provided over the top support against Tampa specially so since he new King was not 100% physically to boot, my angst for that situation leans heavily against Pettine, KIng has some limitations, but with safety support there not as glaring, I was glad to see we brought him back for another season.NCF wrote: ↑24 Aug 2021 13:14I think we are all guilty of piling on Kevin King with a select few certainly leading the charge, but I have to say, after listening to him, today, I think I like Kevin King a lot better than I did this morning.

add in Alex and stokes and thats 3 pretty dang good CB's
Henry Black is impressive as a tackler. He physical and plays with that old school safety edge.Yoop wrote: ↑24 Aug 2021 17:32Henry Black is the type player ya never hear about, and thats actually a good and bad thing, bad in that us fans don't get to do the ouh and ahhhh over the top yells due to wow plays, but good in that he just does his job play in and play out, theres a lot of good to be said about that to, he did cause a late game fumble though two weeks ago and has been pretty good on ST's , I'd imagine the coaches love his consistency.

But Henry Black is a liability in coverage. Innis Gains is just so much better in pass coverage. However he did play that TE play incorrectly and he should have been there to make a play on the ball.
I believe the coaching staff will have Black be that 3rd safety. And from what I have seen up to this point, I think we will struggle with that decision.

Instead of Kevin King being able to ride a kids bike into practice every day he should have to come in like this where the people who actually tried in the NFCC just shame him all along the way. Then have Lazard and Turner watch in case they decide to act up again in a championship game.

I am full bore on the Innis Gaines fan bandwagon. Definitely rooting for the guy.
He never experienced an injury in his career until he tore his ACL his junior year at TCU. He came back 6 months later and said he probably pushed it too quick and tore his same ACL again his senior year.
TCU canceled its pro day and Gaines wasn't cleared by medical doctors until May 2020. The Packers are the only team who invited him for a workout and that happened a year ago basically today. During the 2020 season, Gaines did Door Dash so he could make ends meet but workout when he needed and be able to leave to a team on a short notice. The Packers signed him to a futures contract last January.
Gaines by some scouts is stated that he would be a better CB than Safety which is why we see him so natural in coverage. He is my favorite of the 3 with Vernon Scott next and Henry Black 3rd. We will keep 2 of the 4 now that Redmond is on IR. I bet at least one guy who doesn't make the 53 will be on the Psquad.
Henry Black appears to be the "safe pick" right now. with the other 3 in my eyes having more talent.
Great interview. Great person.

You do know how well that ultimately worked out with Cercei, right?lupedafiasco wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021 05:10

The two plays in the Championship game that King wet the bed on
1) Pettine put him in a horrible spot, Scotty Miller is faster than him anyways, King was set up to be doomed. To not have any over the top help on that play was inexcusable and probably cost Pettine his job. Lafleur and Gutey must agree it was Pettines fault seeing King is back and Pettine was told to kick rocks.
2) Sure he commited PI, it was an uncatchable ball anyways. However, that play only mattered because Rodgers didnt run on 3rd and 8 and Lafleur decided to take the ball out of his hands on 4th down.
All that to say, I forgive Kevin King.

I think King miss-timing his jump on the first TD (it was pckfan 23's avatar) was his largest sin of the day honestly.Drj820 wrote: ↑25 Aug 2021 10:03The two plays in the Championship game that King wet the bed on

A couple of tidbits from Bill Huber
– During that aforementioned third-down period, Rodgers and the No. 1 offense ran seven plays and moved the chains four times.
Each time the offense won, cornerback Kevin King did pushups. Each time the defense won, receiver Devin Funchess did pushups.
– While Krys Barnes has been the only inside linebacker on the field when the No. 1 defense rolls out its dime package, De’Vondre Campbell was in that role for the start of the third-down period. As has been the case throughout camp, Henry Black was the third safety/sixth defensive back.
– Rodgers has been sharper than he was on Wednesday but some of his completions left the defenders beyond frustrated. On one, Rodgers completed a deep ball to Adams just over the outstretched arms of Jaire Alexander. Then, on a two-point play, Rodgers somehow connected with tight end Robert Tonyan against superb coverage by Chandon Sullivan. While Tonyan celebrated, Sullivan pounded the FieldTurf.
