Youngest team in the league is under .500 (often well below) unless they are the Green Bay Packers. Building a young core and the window is wide open. time to start winning championships.
The lesson is young teams usually aren't very good. By not being very good you draft high. If you draft high and hit on a QB you can do well a few years later. The problem is the Packers just gave a huge contract with at best a middle third QB. Good enough to get to the playoffs. Not good enough to ever be a serious SB contender.Madcity_matt wrote: ↑17 Jan 2025 16:23Youngest team in the league is under .500 (often well below) unless they are the Green Bay Packers. stupid, lazy, ignorant, and frankly just dumb take. Jordan literally just turned 26. He's definitely better than or at least as good as Bruck Purdy, Jalen Hurts, Jimmy Garrapolo, Nick Foles/Carson Wentz, just a few recent Super Bowl QB's. Sure he's off the Patrick Mahomes trajectory, but we've all seen a ton of upside, and again, with the youngest team in the NFL, the youngest team to make the playoffs x2, literally 0 pass catchers on 2nd contracts during a rebuilding phase.wallyuwl wrote: ↑17 Jan 2025 18:31The lesson is young teams usually aren't very good. Will we get to Super Bowl's with him? I don't know, sure hope so. But just nutzo to suggest we can't be a Super Bowl contender with him.
I should have clarified, I meant a threat to win a SB. Getting there doesn't mean much. Rex Grossman got to a SB, too. But I don't think Love will ever get to a SB. He shrinks under pressure. He is inaccurate and makes bad decisions (same flaws he had in college), and those things get much worse against good competition with the 1 exception of at Dallas last year. He is nowhere near as good as Hurts.BF004 wrote: ↑17 Jan 2025 18:43stupid, lazy, ignorant, and frankly just dumb take. Jordan literally just turned 26. No way to actually tell what Love is going to be without any legitimate passing weapons to throw to. He’s got a bunch of guys with the potential to break out any game but don’t do it consistently… which is what you see from guys that just aren’t great players. They’re just fine across the board.
At some point we need to invest and hit at pass catcher and I’m not talking about just Adams and the worst group of scrubs to ever hit the field. Get two legitimate weapons. Right now we have 0.

Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
Saying X player or X coach will probably not win a SB is such a lame take.
Like yeah. In a generation of the NFL (roughly 15 years) you have probably close to 100 coaches and 100 quarterbacks. Of that group, you will probably see 5 to 7 coaches and 5 to 7 quarterbacks win a SB. Way to stand on the odds of being right 96% of the time.

You always write posts as if you are a fan of the Atlanta falcons. We are the Green Bay Packers, we are in the playoffs literally almost every year (over the last 30 years), it’s completely okay for the expectation to be a “Super Bowl” over the life of our best players career here. Any team who is in the dance almost every year should hope to close the deal at least once in a decade cycle. Your expectations are as if we are the jags. While I agree with your "super bowl over the life of our best players" sentiment, We are also discussing the youngest team in the league with an arrow pointing up. The window for this team is just starting to open.Drj820 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 09:40You always write posts as if you are a fan of the Atlanta falcons. We aren't talking expectation of Super Bowl. We are talking about fans making premature declarations that "X player might make the final 4 or SB but won't win one"Drj820 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 09:40You always write posts as if you are a fan of the Atlanta falcons. It's lazy and silly. Everybody thought Andy Reid couldn't do it until he did it and then he won three in 5 years. Nobody thought Eli Manning could do it for the exception of two anomaly years where he beat the Packers and Patriots. Nobody knows if MLF, Gute and Love will win one. But declaring they won't win one and then bragging 10 years later when the odds are 95% in your favor is a pretty lame take.
If you are good enough to consistently get to the final four...you are good enough to win one. You just need that lightening to strike. MLF and Gute have shown they are good enough. Love still has proving to do. But absolutely this group is good enough to do it. Will they? Odds always say no.
every year is a NEW team, and players typically either play better or worse than the prior year.Drj820 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 09:40You always write posts as if you are a fan of the Atlanta falcons. to me we built and tried to win it all in 2020 and 2021, fell short, since the beginning of 23 we've been rebuilding, first with new QB and receivers and ILB and DL, this last draft we added more receivers, a OL, and a bunch of defensive talent.
last years finish brought hope for this season, un realistic hope as it turned out, but most fans I know looked at 2025 or 26 as the years we'll be at our best, ya need maturity to go deep in the playoffs, or a lot of luck.
Being the youngest team in the league is not something to strive for. I would say lacking vets who have been there and done that is actually a negative to team building.Madcity_matt wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 10:00While I agree with your "super bowl over the life of our best players" sentiment, We are also discussing the youngest team in the league with an arrow pointing up. We paid a qb 55m per, expecting him to play like a 55m qb. We brought in Jacobs to upgrade the rb position when we had a good one already. We brought in x and a new DC to fix the defense. We didn’t go get any FA WRs because we expected our WRs to take a leap.
We underachieved this year. We didn’t really beat a single good team. We were the 7th best team in the nfc. We got bounced round one.
The excuses are old. Even Gutey said so himself.

See, I actually don't see the arrow pointing up. I see it pointing sideways or even down a little. I see a QB who has regressed and has made comments that he plays how he plays, so don't expect things to change. A coach that has lost a bit of his creative edge. Every pass catcher except Kraft regress and/or will be out next season or their careers over. X, Jacobs, and Cooper were absolutely bright spots and they should be close to the same or better (Coop) next year. But QB is worse, OL is worse, DL/pass rush is worse, WR much much much worse, and CB is worse than at this time last year.Madcity_matt wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 10:00

Isn't this thread outdated?
your being rash about this stuff, normal after a disappointing loss, and while I also think Love regressed this season, and I hate the "cool hand luke" vib I get from his lack of emotion at times, it is sorta normal under duress, or depression, the injury and slow start IMO led to Loves technical bad habits rearing there ugly head, which caused accuracy issues, not to mention the lack of separation ability with our receiverswallyuwl wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 14:22See, I actually don't see the arrow pointing up. Love became one of the best QB's in the league to deal with pass rush, IMO that is a significant positive, and half the battle, it tells me that if the tech is improved, then the accuracy will also improve, and if we can get these receivers to run more precise routes, which should help separation, and also catch the balls they should, our passing game next year will be vastly improved.
often receivers/players have second year slumps, most here wanted to dump Adams after his.
