Your original comment pretended that Gutey can hit on draft classes outside of the first couple rounds. Quick rebuilds require hits up and down the draft. If you can’t get that, gotta hit on QB. His first attempt was Love.
Not sure my original comment pretended anything.

Gute has been an above average drafter since his hiring. Isn’t really up for debate, pretty concrete, based on snaps, starter snaps, post season accolades and team success.

Perhaps more top heavy than deep, but only one draft class has finished the 4 year cycle under his belt and he’s already banged out 3 all pro talents.
Of that completed draft class we came away with 1 player. That is not sustainable and we are seeing the effects of that right now. On top of that you had the 2020 class which is starting to look like we got absolutely nothing from.
Gutey has shown he can hit homruns in the first two rounds. Awesome. But that’s not showing you are capable of orchestrating a quick turn around. Up until this year, it was all TT draft picks that carried the team. Now we continue to lose more of those, can add Jaire and Gary as true difference makers drafted by Gutey, and then we look around for other help and can’t find much of it. Maybe elgton if played in proper position.

All while Ted is just sitting on his hands.

Not really sure how to feel about that.

SF already had Deebo, similarish players. Shanahan had a history of not using RBs well, despite an overall solid rushing team success.

SF just got a whole lot better, but maybe not in the Madden sense of just adding a 97 overall RB.

Might make them the team to beat in the NFC. Quay and Devondre better get a lot better if we want to have a chance.

McCaffrey will just get hurt again. Its a huge risk for the 49ers. But if he stays healthy, they'll be tough to beat.

9ers gotta be in a weird spot.

No cap room and no draft picks.

Gotta be hard to fill in depth and even mid level starters. Like how do you go about replacing Trent Williams next year?

They want a Super Bowl and feel they have the defense to get there.

They also now have an elite rb (when healthy), Aiyuk, and Deebo. They are “going for it”. Probably not worried about next year.

Still weird, gave up 3 firsts for Lance, but tried to force Garrapolo out. Lance hurt this year, but then they make a big all in move for this year with Garrapolo. I get making a big trade makes some people all hot in the pants and wonder why not us, but regardless, seems like a few weird moves from SF moving in opposite directions.

Some orgs wants a Super Bowl more than they want to hold on to future draft picks.

Scared money don’t make no money

Thought pattern between different orgs is interesting.

Packers seem to have gone the route of “we pay the QB and have an offensive coach, they should figure out the O and we load up the D.”

While Rams brings in Stafford and want to pour it on with OBJ.

Niners have shanahan, deebo, and aiyuk and want to pour it on with mcCafrey.

Bills with their defensive coach want to load up with Von Miller

Offensive coach Mcdaniels in Miami sells the farm to add Tyreke.

Interesting different philosophies

Packers need to target trading for Elijah Moore with the Jets. He’s asked for a trade and isn’t playing this weekend. He was a 2nd round pick and year ago and showed a lot of promise but Zach Wilson is just so bad plus the addition of Garrett Wilson has limited him.

He can play inside or out. Maybe if we can pull a move like a 3rd and Amari Rodgers they may bite. Probably would need to add one more pick. Still on a rookie deal so inexpensive. They claim they aren’t trading him but that may be to drive the price.

Yeah, he is target #1 for me. Loved him coming out of school.

DJ Moore >>> Elijah Moore

However hard to argue with Elijah’s contract, just don’t think he’d change anything this year worth mentioning. But I’d love having him for ‘24 and ‘25

At this point that's what we have to be doing now.

With which part do you not agree?? DJ v Elijah, Elijah helping this year, or the having him under contract on the cheap?
