Kind of an interesting self-scouting tidbit:

Thanks for posting that one.
There was obviously some tension between coach Jerry Gray and Barry, that's why Gray is gone. And now his successor, Greg Williams comes in and starts working on Jaire's alignments. Interesting. GB plays a lot of zone, so Jaire is gonna play off a fair amount- but it sounds like they're tightening him up a bit.

I don't understand why "a lot of zone" necessarily means a lot of "playing off," but it always seems to come up. You can play tight and bail out to a zone--especially when you have Jaire's speed.BSA wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023 17:25Thanks for posting that one.

I think it’s always easier to play off in zones to identify the route concepts and watch the QB. If you are going to play aggressive with your DBs in a zone I’ve always felt they need to be some damn good press CBs like how Seattle did in their cover 3 scheme.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023 21:57I don't understand why "a lot of zone" necessarily means a lot of "playing off," but it always seems to come up. Otherwise zone has always really excelled in the off coverage. Give a little space, read the QB, close on the ball and tackle and maybe if you get there soon enough you can break it up.
Honesty I’ve always hated zone. Too much can go wrong and it’s boring to watch but with how the league has basically allowed offenses to do whatever they want and restricted DBs man is too exploitable.
Cancelled by the forum elites.
Some DBs prefer having vision to the QB and the first few steps of the route so they can adjust to what route they are seeing. It also allows them to have a better angle at jumping a route and vision to the RB on run plays. Jaire is one of those guys and he mentions it in his interview.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑31 Jul 2023 21:57I don't understand why "a lot of zone" necessarily means a lot of "playing off," but it always seems to come up. "Alexander is always looking for ways to improve. Case in point, Alexander has still been working with Greg Williams on pressing the line of scrimmage more this offseason. "G-Money, he's been helping me with my alignment," Alexander said. "Because sometimes I have a tendency to play a little farther off than normal. That's just how I prefer to play. So he's been trying to tighten my leverage down some and try to play it from there."
Packer fans ALWAYS hate playing off, but some DBs and some DCs prefer to play it that way. Including the best CB in the game
There's are pro's and cons for each, and being able to play a variety of alignments makes you a better defense. The key of course is knowing when to use each one and that's often a cat n mouse game vs the OC, QB and WR .

Hanson with an elbow injury , Emply and Schneider both brought in within a few days.
Backup C up for grabs.
That's my read

Yay...
bring back Lucas Patrick. ( currently with bears)
Its a pretty important spot and GB would love to have (1) IOL who could cover OC and OG duties. Ideally that would be Sean Rhyan, but reality is he hasn't had much time at OC and he missed a bunch of development in being suspended.
This summer- Packers have a deep pipeline at OT, but a little thin on IOL- maybe they are more confident in Rhyan or the guys you mentioned.
Edited to add:
" Sean Rhyan went 5-0 in one on ones. Beat rookie Colby Wooden on all five. Good showing for him."

I went looking on our fellow NFC North fourms today to see what they got going on. A bit old but this is what the bears fans are a bit dramatic
