While I also don't agree with Aaron's decisions off the field, there's a difference between how off the field decisions affect football teams, and I don't believe Rodgers' decisions have hampered this team other than him missing the KC game. With that said, if he's really allergic to a component of the vaccine, then you can't even fault him for that.

I've always thought he's kind of a jerk, but here we are with the Packers with the best record in the league and Rodgers is playing better than every other QB in the league right now. So nothing else should play into MVP voting.
It is interesting because plenty of reporters don't like him, probably management at GB don't like him but players in GB and around the league always say good things about him. Maybe a man of his people.

He’s like a Marshawn Lynch in a sense, but yet revels the reporter spotlight.

Very good write up.
That stat is broken or should not be used for football. The Cardinals and Chiefs game are big factors in why Rodgers stands out this year, apart from numbers and record, compared to Brady who got shut out against a divisional rival.

These are his colleagues, they are just being diplomatic. Look what most of them say or said about guys like Antonio Brown or Aaron Hernandez and you know it is not much worth what they say.

For me personally AR is a decent guy. I even understand his offseason antics. He got more diva-ish the last years but that comes with the territory. I think this Chicago dude had an agenda, probably to simply promote himself.

PFF's war ( wins against replacement players) is probably responsible for Gary's 73 edge player ranking, which I would imagine are very closely lumped grades, as they are with Brady and Rodgers in this acme article .

but war has nothing to do with counting pressures, still it was a informative reading, thanks :aok:

This sounds to me to be motivated more by a professional @$$ chewing, not an internet one

He's sorry he broke the rules of discussing his vote before the award was announced, and the way it has impacted the public perception of both the award and the voting process.

He's not sorry for what he said about Rodgers, though he seems to regret the phrasing, and the timing.

This, to me, sounds like the AP is talking about taking away his vote for his rule violations and he's trying to keep it and show deference and respect to the existing process to avoid losing his place.

But it is not an apology to Aaron Rodgers (except to call him a great player and lump him in with the people "dragged into this mess" or a recanting of what he said.

He's now being ripped for the non-apology for the post he got ripped for.

Happens every time. Rarely does an apology after a stupid act ever go well.

he goes on to explain that he shouldn't announce his intentions till after the voting process, I doubt AP will remove him for this because it's a un written rule to avoid doing this, and he does have a point, people that don't vax require more days to clear league requirements to play again, we lost to KC because of that, and Aaron could end up testing positive again just prior to the SB.

I found Aarons reply to Arkush opinion that the guy is a bum to be arrogant, the guy has a point, the KC loss didn't hurt us, but it could have, and if the league does require Rodgers to test again, we better pray it comes back negative or it could cost us a SB. :hide:

Well, seems like the people on here who said “take his vote away!” May actually have the mainstream opinion that includes rich eisen, Rodgers hater Mike Florio, and potentially the AP itself.

I think it’s possible Hel be stripped before or after this one last vote.

yeah, I agree that he might be. If the AP says "as a member of this voting group, we ask that you not discuss your vote prior to the award" and he did, then it's actually a pretty easy decision. You're asked one thing, and you fail.

more likely he'll be asked to resign, and we'll never hear about it unless he chooses to openly acknowledge it.

or since as you say mainstream news people agree with his take, including AP, why would they strip him of his voting on this stuff, he didn't break a written rule, imho these writers are given a lot of latitude because there comments spark attention which sells a lot of ink.

This isn't a job or a position that needs written rules. This is a prestigious honor that media members are granted. The AP can do as they please, especially considering they have 1 "rule" and he broke the 1 "rule."

fine line, he didn't acknowledge WHO he would vote for, which is what AP doesn't want, he said who he WOULD'NT vote for, now if ya think there are only two players in the race that would matter, but there are more, so in a way it still leaves a question of WHO he'll vote for.

I've never even heard of Arkush till several days ago, so if he's fired or not matters little to me, but his statements concerning Rodgers I do agree with.

Some of the same talking heads and analysts who have been advocating for MLF as CoY are now being vocal in their criticisms of him for playing his starters at least a partial game during a meaningless game.

Forgive me if I dismiss these knuckleheads out of hand and trust the winningest 3rd year coach in the history of the league in this situation.

I think they all learned their lesson from the Saints game. Even the best NFL players need reps to stay sharp.

PFT names AR their MVP. And doing so must have hurt Florio so much that they begin their MVP announcement by calling AR a lying, attention-seeking jerk and a low-key bully. :rotf:
