How about you look it up.
you guys are the ones that are arguing that we have done everything the way it's suppose to be done and it's simply a matter of bad luck for our failures, and that buying bargain basement assistants isn't the problem.

I tend to think it is, prove me wrong.
No, "us guys" are not arguing that, not at all, actually.

Saying we have constantly gone bargain basement, just is not true. Mike Stock and Ron Zook were definitely not bargain basement.

You asked a question, how about you answer it yourself and go look it up. Do some leg work.
Yeah I remember how excited we were when we hired Ron Zook. Add the fact the guy was then super cool, loud, excited, enthusiastic at TC...man people loved him.

He was supposed to be the answer.

I'll be happy when its fixed. 4 ST coordinators in 5 years isn't helping either. Guys can't fix it in a year either.

He's retired. Sounds like his last job was with the Browns during the 2012 season.

Yeah. I take no joy in people being fired. Especially when they are good people.

I do take joy if it gets fixed.

i take joy in accountability.

Drayton had one of 32 jobs in the entire world at his position. He was well paid, and maintained a job after his last boss was fired. He probably will get more money out of the deal depending on his contract. I dont really feel bad for him. Im sure a number of pop warner teams across the country would still have him as coach if he still enjoys football.

from personal experience, almost all are good people, I had to fire ( in the trades it's called a lay off) a very close friend, he was the biggest screw off on the job, I was grateful that he understood and didn't hold a grudge, there performance reflects back on the person in charge, which was me, and I couldn't afford to lose my job.

thats obviously how Lafluer has to look at his assistants, there failures are considered his failures, friendship, or no friendship, it's as s, grass, or cash, no one gets a free ride

First cord job, likely he'll eventually get another shot, lots of cords are on there second, third, or even more appointments

Even if he was a nice guy if you can't do the job you have to go. I hope we venture outside of the organization and hire someone whose team has excelled on special teams and finally fix this mess.

That's the thing that we have been trying to discuss. It hasn't been as simple as hiring someone outside the organization or not, OR hiring a person with pedigree or not. We have done all 4 of those things to no avail. There is something systemically that seems to be holding that part of our game back.

There is very little correlation with previous success at other franchises and successful coaching hire for current team.

There is just very little we as fans can know about a coaching hire and it being successful or not.

STs were such a nightmare, in all facets, this year, that Drayton had to go. It started bad, ended bad, no progression.

I think we're gonna be disappointed with the next ST coordinator's name, because there's no epic house name candidate available. But I'm glad LaFleur tries to get better.

who has the time needed to research all the successful ST's coaches? heres what we should know since we are dedicated football fans, and pretend to know something :rotf:

hte Ravens, whose head coach John Harbaugh has a rich history as an NFL special-teams coach, have never short-changed the kicking game. Which is why Baltimore again finished first in the NFL special-teams rankings compiled annually by Rick Gosselin for the last 43 years. The Ravens have finished in the Top 5 in these rankings in eight of the last nine seasons, also winning in 2015.

The league’s 32 teams are ranked in 22 kicking-game categories and assigned points according to their standing – one for best, 32 for worst. The Ravens compiled 241.5 points to finish 30.5 better than the runnerup Indianapolis Colts at 272. Playoff teams Kansas City, Dallas, Buffalo, Las Vegas and Cincinnati all finished in the Top 12.

The Ravens, under special teams coach Chris Horton, finished first in five of the 22 categories. They also finished in the Top 5 in four other categories and the Top 10 in five others. Tucker was voted to the AFC Pro Bowl team – one of two Baltimore special-teamers so honored. Devin Duvernay also was selected as the return specialist after leading the NFL in punt returns with his 13.8-yard average.

Hmmph.

Correlation or not, if it's me I'll take my chances with hiring a coach who has experienced prior success as a good starting point to fixing the problem.

Teams in playoffs are top 12 ST's caught my eye, that and I've always felt that John Harbaugh is a detail oriented coach, and perfectionist, so it doesn't really surprise me that he demands that of all his cords and coaches, granted they have talent on the squad with Kickers, punters and returners, but I'd bet it's the lack of errors that consistently propels them to the top rankings year after year.

and thats all we do is make them, idiotic blunder after another, and it's never the same thing so who knows what to fix next, one week it's Crosby, or the holder, or the snapper, or a DL forgetting his assignment, or Bork with the squib punts, and I havn't even touched on the return specialist because we really havn't had any good ones since ??????????

I think we could bring in GB west HS Librarian and get better results then this,
