BTW, Vikings fans would like to thank the Packers for letting Z. Smith go.

great response
the Vikings could have, Bart Starr, Reggie White, Jimmy (the rat killer) Taylor, The Horn, and every other Packers great player and still wont win a SB, something happened up there in Minnesota many years ago that really upset the Big guy and the Vikings have been cursed ever since, he'll allow them to bang on the door, but it never gets opened
enjoy what looks like a great season Raptor

Blake Martinez retires. Good guy, pretty decent career. I wish him a nice life.

Far exceeded the life expectancy and earned $$ of the average 4th round pick, good for him. I know he had a few concussions, hope he had a peaceful retirement.

Honestly most of the league is really bad. The actual NFL product is getting really bad.

Interesting you bring this up. A friend and I were just discussing how the prototypical NFL body has.....atrophied? Just seems like we see more of those Kyler Murray video gamer type bodies and the T.O. types that used to be more prevalent are now few and far between.

The T.O. wide receiver type wasn't particularly prevalent. That is the big possession receiver type. There has always been some of them, but not the norm. Kyler Murray is a huge exception as far as QB size goes. Brees and Wilson are as well. The vast majority are much taller. Drew Brees himself kind of gave other smaller guys a chance, but they still don't break out often.

I've noticed that as well. I think it's more due to low grade coaching ..... nothing to do we with the athletes.

I'm a little worried that with scoring down, the NFL will try to "nerf" defenses again

Yup. The actual fix is to let teams and players actually practice more together. But instead the fix will be to "emphasize illegal contact even more.

True. Too many teams, not enough talent for the number of teams. Too many injuries.

I clearly recall the 1969 season, and the Dark Era of the 1970s and I suppose the 1980s as well, when the Vikings were coached by either Bud Grant or Burnsy.........rooting for the Vikings to win when they were in the playoffs or Super Bowl. Once Burnsy left after the 1991 season it seems the Vikings became much less revered. I doubt this is the year they'll come back to prominence .......... but that's just a doubt and maybe. I was at the Met when the Vikings played the Rams in a 1970 regular season game. I remember being cold and hardly interested. GO PACK GO!!

I think the Bears might have a real QB. It has yet to be seen if they can surround him with talent and continue coaching him - but the talent is there.

Yes it is. However, the QB play is actually pretty good. Maybe better than in a long time. And the NFL can sell that!

Going into yesterday BUF was #1 seed in AFC. After yesterday they are 3rd in their division. All because of a fumbled center to QB exchange.

Somebody won, despite the refs. This had to be one of the worst refereed games I have ever seen. And it wasn't on one side. They missed calls all over the place.
Remember, the game isn't over until the clock hits 0:00. Unless there is a flag on defense, then it's a few seconds longer.

Don't look now but ESPN actually featured an interesting and informative conversation on one of their otherwise insufferable NFL roundtable shows. The run game, in particular the power and counter run game, is back with a vengeance. A discussion on why that is:
