one day of minni camp and people have the positions locked downTheSkeptic wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 15:06Yup. I told people that there was no way Jaire would be in the slot. Got shot at for saying so. But I was right.
Rasul will be just fine there.
we'll rotate the slot CB depending on the WR in the slot, Douglas will match up with bigger receivers, Alex with the smaller quick twitch guys, beat writers have already discussed this situation, and those guys know all this stuff

Well I'm pretty sure it's not set in stone and also don't think anyone 'shot at' you for suggesting that.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 15:06Yup. I told people that there was no way Jaire would be in the slot. Got shot at for saying so. But I was right.

Christian Watson said that Jaire gives guys live feedback on their routes in practice; like if he picks up on a tell or an angle gives away the route and allows him to jump it, he tells the receiver in the moment what he saw that allowed him to do that. That's like an extra WR coach on the field, haha

Amari Rodgers says he lost 6 pounds and 4% body fat this offseason.
Many people around this board indicated that was a wise path for him to take; I guess he and the team agreed

'Been hearing a lot of buzz about Slaton and Winfree leading up to today. Wyatt will probably get his share of meaningful snaps at DT, but let's not forget our high-upside guy who flashed last year.

Lazard is scheduled to make about the same amount as DK Melcalf this year. DKs hold out is justified, Lazard should be happy to make $4m and be in the situation he is in.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 12:28It's wild, right? Honestly,. if I'm him, I don't want a contract right now. Given the opportunity, he has a good chance at a career high in volume stats this year. His tender isn't necessarily small potatoes ($4 M). He could bet on himself this year.
I’m not even sure Lazard would make every teams 53 man roster in the league. Would he make some? Totally. Most? Ehhh. All? I do not think so.
He should show up and prove himself and earn his next payday.

Lazard would make every team's roster. The only exception I can think of, maybe, would be the Buccs from last year that had a crazy deep WR corps. but even that I'm not sure about.Drj820 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 19:29Lazard is scheduled to make about the same amount as DK Melcalf this year. People think that because Lazard is not a (consistent) separator, that he must be a JAG. He's a possession receiver; he's open even when he's covered... by virtue of merely being taller, stronger, and more physical than the guy covering him (or faster, if he's covered by a LB).
Like, Lazard is pretty much exactly what you would draw up if you wanted to create the prototype possession receiver, only thing lacking is that he sometimes puts too many balls on the ground, but everything else: height, weight, strength, mentality... checks all the boxes. His speed is actually pretty adequate. He ran mid-4.5. 4.5 isn't fast, but it's not slow, especially not when you have that kind of size advantage.

Rodgers’ 20-minute locker room interview today was FULL of interesting nuggets.
One of them was saying that Lazard is stepping into the WR1 role (and that Rodgers is comfortable with him in that role).
I’ll probably post about the interview more tomorrow. But since this conversation about Lazard is ongoing, felt like I’d jump in now with it.
Another interesting note: Lazard apparently posted from the airport yesterday “time to get to work.” So I wouldn’t be super surprised if he turns up and signs the tender soon. I’m still confused/intrigued about his motivations and whether he’s angling for a different deal.

not to be rude, but i totally disagree. Lazard is the definition of a JAG. Lazard puts up the numbers he has put up with a two time MVP throwing to him and fitting the ball into extremely tight windows, most other QBs arent even throwing to him in the situations we see Rodgers get him the ball. That or they are throwing INTs.Labrev wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 20:53Lazard would make every team's roster. Lazard is fine. Glad hes on our team. But he is in no way of "im gonna hold out for more money" territory. That is laughable.
Now, I did fully admit Lazard would find a job if he wasnt a Packer. I also said I wouldnt argue if you told me "most" teams would find a spot for him on the roster. But I really dont think all 32 teams are calling his agent if the Packers up and cut him. Hes a JAG.

thing is Lazard has been promoting himself, he's on record saying HE thinks this is his breakout year, what would you say if you where a friend and his QB? Rodgers saying he's comfortable with that doesn't add up to much imo Yoho or you wouldn't have seen gute trade both 2nd rounders to get someone better, you would have seen Lazard targeted more then two times in the PO loss, Rodgers has a habit of not dissing his team mates, he's often said he was comfortable with his WR's when it was obvious most sucked, when it comes to Rodgers comments concerning just about everything I take it as half truths.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 21:06Rodgers’ 20-minute locker room interview today was FULL of interesting nuggets.

He also made it clear that Lazard, Watkins, and Cobb are his 1-2-3 and it’s up to others to fight for scraps and/or produce to the point that they crack that group.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 21:06Rodgers’ 20-minute locker room interview today was FULL of interesting nuggets.

I’m a Lazard fan, he shouldn’t be in the position he is in. But I think he’s made some steady progression, undrafted guy from a small school who is physically, really quite gifted and just turned 26. Definitely fair to hope/expect some more progression.
At the same time, he is who he is, a great guy to have on the roster.

Interesting tidbit X: AR spoke of Cobb as his representative in the WR room. Cobb can show and tell them what AR expects, the timings, the signals... I think a WR with long-ass knowledge of AR's ways could be a better player-coach than AR himself. Cobb speaks WR as native language.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑07 Jun 2022 21:06Rodgers’ 20-minute locker room interview today was FULL of interesting nuggets.

I think that's super smart (especially if AR wants to max his vacation time while not hurting the team) and another good reason to keep Cobb around.
why are people in such a hurry to go back to mediocre? If we'd have traded Rodgers for draft compensation I would have got on board, but in reality Rodgers offers us the best chance to win, and not just a SB, regular season games matter, if ya don't win those there is no chance to even get to a SB, till we have a QB that can help win us those games I'll stick with Rodgers.
