Wheelen is younger, cheaper, and the Packers control his rights for longer.
Wheelen didn't need to surpass O'Donnel. He just needed to be close to O'Donnel and he would be the obvious choice
This is what happened. O'Donnel is the better punter today.
Honestly I can't say if O'Donnel is the better punter today. Wheelen had a couple poor punts but by and large I would say he has stayed even with O'Donnel. I was hoping we would go with Wheelen.
when ya see established vets playing late in PS games it's usually not a good sign for that vet, it means the coaches are giving him a last chance for the vet to change the GM's mind, obviously O Donnell didn't, Newman is probably next.
also why where we playing Clark till half time, could there be a trade. I didn't see any reason for him playing.
Trade Clark?!? I know there's a focus on youth right now, but that's crazy talk. Plus he's only 27. It was strange, but I think MLF wanted to stretch out a few guys and get them some reps before the season starts. Clark hadn't played at all yet. A little change in mindset in the new post-12 era.
Yeah. Game 1 is fast approaching, with a full 60 minutes of football for the 1's. Early season is typically full of gassed players, esp big DT's.

The Packers trading Clark would result in a total of $34.7 million of dead money counting against their cap over the next two seasons. That's not gonna happen.

Clark played nine snaps, I think, if I am remembering right.

The Packers will release LS Matt Orzech today but re-sign him on Wednesday, meaning they will keep a player on the 53 who they will put on injured reserve tomorrow, allowing them to activate him during the season.

Hey CWIMM, posting this stuff is my job. Since I provide no other quality interaction to this forum, its the only way to keep my post count up.
