Hindsight is always 20/20, reality is we didn't get jack squat for Rodgers, the only people that measure a trade using hindsight are people that have never traded anything, come on, that logic wouldn't get ya a cup of coffee at homeless shelter

reality is everyone who using that logic would have traded Rodgers after 2021 season, when it's more then probably we'd have gotten 2 gem first round picks, possibly top 10, however at that point Rodgers was worth that compensation, however after the poor performance ( mostly other position related) all we where able to get where left overs of the Saturday night meal, lets not sugar coat the realities of this situation.

If someone wasn't pissed about the trade yesterday and today they are, they are using hindsight.

So if hindsight is being used we must also consider that Rodgers may have only played 4 snaps for his new team. A 7th rounder would be good value for that... (hyperbole for emphasis)

Dude. We got Jayden Reed and a 2024 2nd round draft pick.

My assumption is that the Jets are still good enough to win some games (like they did last night). I'm guessing anywhere from 6-9 wins, so we should have a decent 2nd round pick probably in the low 40's. The way I look at it, after last night, it's about the same as Rodgers retiring so we should be thankful that we're getting some compensation. I saw some tweets last night saying "everyone loses because of the injury". I disagree. That Packers clearly won as we're getting a 2nd round pick for a player who played 4 snaps this year.
what? we basically got a 2 slot flip in this draft and a 2 next year, for a 4 time MVP first ballot HOF QB, the only thing we didn't get is a tube of petroleum jelly, we couldn't even recoup dead money, sorry, but we took a shellacking parting with Rodgers, the only thing worse now with hind site would have been keeping him
we got a two slot bump this year, a 2 this year, and a 2 next year for a guy who didn't want to play for us anymore, and who we were ready to move on from. dead money comes from salary we had already paid previously. If you pay it, you cap it. objectively speaking, the jets paid 2 2nds, moved back 2 slots (losing out on their likely OL target) and have 70 M guaranteed to a guy who is done for the year and might be done for good. I think you're widely missing who needs the jelly.
sorry I don't consider Rodgers injury damage to the Jets as anything to do with our compensation, I forgot about the 2nd round pick we had in this last draft, which could be a huge asset to us in the future.

We lost bargaining power in this trade, not only did Rodgers want out, so did we, and everyone new it, no one else was truly interested, we had to take what the jets would give us, or have another Favre situation with Rodgers forcing his way out.

At this point, it’s 100% entirely about AR8 and the Jets. Talk of other less important things can be done later.

I think that Rodgers will come through this thinking that he is still a competitor and has something to prove to himself. He is going to do everything in his power to return next year and play well. He had a breath of fresh air in NY (as hard as that might seem to believe). He gained a new level of motivation that he didn’t have last year. He WANTS to play a part of the Jets success. And I think he should.

He WILL return.

right, and agree I think we could have had LVN at either slot, thing is though that the Jets would have gotten that tackle.

water over the bridge now, my only point is the compensation we got for Rodgers was not that impressive when considering what he was worth a year prior.

The injury doesn't have anything to do with the compensation (outside of losing out on a first rounder). Like I said, we got 2 2nds (one of which was likely a first) and moved up 2 slots in the first round for a guy we didn't want and didn't want us. We got the far better end of the deal prior to the injury. In hindsight, it's just monumentally worse for the Jets.

get real, who goes into a deal looking to damage the team there trading with? if that where the case you'd soon run out of trade partners, that has to be the dumbest thing you've ever said Acrobat

If we didn't force that pick 13 and 15 swap, Jets would have gotten Broderick Jones, we still could have gotten Van Ness, Aaron wouldn't have gotten hurt with Jones at tackle, we'd get that first.

I blame Gute.

I think there was some disconnect in communication there, I don't think you guys are discussing the same thing.

that we got a better deal now that Rodgers is injured has nothing to do with the flipped first round and 2 2nd's we got as compensation for a 1st ballot HOF QB, when ya look at what teams gave for less talented QB's the Rodgers lately imo we got short changed.

6 months ago everyone here was dreaming about what we'd have gotten trading Rodgers a year earlier, now no one wants to talk about that, just defend the meager scrapes we got this season. :beer2:

Again, by your logic, the Vikings won the Herschel Walker trade (I say this knowing that the Cowboys got way more than GB did but using this as an example of being short sighted).

We got a swapped first and 2 2nds for a QB that played 4 snaps. I'll take that.

I'am done with this stupidity, I can't see any logic with your comments, no one goes into a trade expecting poor results :idn:
