Whether there is coddling or not, the question the Packers have had over the years (previously with Chad Clifton) was, how much do you want to string out a stellar career for a LT who is clearly struggling to remain on the field? Does his level of play and experience for half the season (maybe more, maybe less) outweigh the huge paycheck that we are giving to him? Does he stunt the growth of OLinemen who would be coming up behind him?

First, we have the luxury of having some talent to backup Bahktiari. That is something that most teams do not have. By that virtue alone, we could afford 69 as long as this remains true and he wants to play.

Second, if we clearly have the guy who would be his replacement on the roster, it might make more sense to encourage 69 to hang up the cleats. But you still have to work that between the player, HC, and GM.

Third, does the intermittent play hinder the performance of the offense? I do think that our OLine has been good in these two games. But we'll see, going forward. Even so, if this problem persists, it's a season-ending decision about how to proceed into the future.

It is a shame Bak's knee is not getting better. I suspect we are stuck with him. What other team is going to trade for a gimpy tackle with his salary? :idn:

1. I'm over the idea that "no way should we lose" mantra. It goes the other way too. There isn't an automatic win or lose for anybody in any game. Any given Sunday. And until this team proves it is the better team... the saying still goes.

2. Jenkins will not be back for this. All that I've seen from Packer beat reporters is that his knee is "multiple weeks" at first glance. Would be nice if he can prove wrong. But I wouldn't expect that.

3. Bahktiari needs to play. Between him and Tom, that's a virtual lock down from both Tackle spots. And if he doesn't play, it'll still be good. The Saints will look for sacks and big plays resulting from pressure. Will our OLine be up to par? I think so. We will need to score 20+ in this one.

4. Love. He has flashed that he is confident against pressure. But he hasn't been hit multiple times any given game yet. I think this is a game where he might learn and grow. But I still expect him to play well.

5. Yes, we need Watson and Jones. Enough said about that.

6. Will Reed be a pivotal part of this offense this week? It's amazing to think of a rookie slot guy having that much importance. But he has shown ability and burst. If he can keep synced with Love and use his good hands, I'm hopeful that he does very well, including at least one TD.

7. Musgrave. Another game where we can expect pressure on Love. As I mentioned last week, this is where a QB needs his security blanket. And nobody is better than a big, fast TE with good hands. So, let's hope that Musgrave can start to carry that load.

8. Defense. Eish! Enough said, except let last week be the counter to this week. Improve or die!

9. Special teams. Until our unit is taking bigger steps, expect ST to play a big role in the close games. When will be bust a big return or Carlson kick a winning figgie?

Overall, I hope our margin is better than the oddsmakers are giving. But this is still a very young team, at least on offense. I'll go with the line on this one. An eeker of a game. Hoping for a last minute win.
Many good points here. I will add that if or when we get Jones and Watson back should mean good things, and changes the way teams need to play us. They are the 2 most explosive players on offense. We all basically know this.

I think the Packers are #1 in 3 and outs so far this year. Thats a crappy stat to lead. After injuries, I mostly blame MLF for this. I think he needs to be a little better as our offensive minded head coach.

Last thought is, I wish MLF would call some well timed run plays for the mobile Jordon Love. Not bashing him between the tackles but A QB draw or outside the tackles against man coverage could provide some nice chunk plays and keep the chains moving. Anyway too many 3 and outs.

OH and Jaire needs to catch them balls that hit him between the numbers.

GO PACK!!!

Quay has two consecutive games of having his mitts on the ball. First one he caught. Second one, not so much. Here's to hoping he gets a third chance this weekend!

Packers have 7, Browns worst with 10, and Raiders, Rams, 49ers best with 2.

Defense with only 3, 3 and outs... Worst defenses in the league Raiders and Seahawks with 2.

The offense is scoring points. The problem lies with the defense.

Thanks for the correction. I probably should have verified that rather than just accepting what I heard on Collin Cowherds show.

I think its more on the defense, but the offense can take some blame too. They didnt get 1 fist down in the 4th quarter. 3 and out, 3 and out, 4 and out. Thats also !@#$ poor in my book. IT would have been nice to have done a littel more than that on offense. :bkw:

There are a few new posters on the forum, and I'd like to invite y'all to play the friendly forum game of Here's Johnny.

The idea is to pick the Packers player who most exceeds expectations in the week's game. You can pick any player (that has not been already picked), but this is no MVP contest. For example, Kenny Clark is expected to wreck games, so he may have to do something historic to win votes, whereas a single lucky INT would probably land the win for Carrington Valentine.

We're only two weeks in, not too late to get into it. The winner gets a cool banner, and this season I may invest in an actual prize (TBD).

I double checked the Steelers on this one and this is definitely wrong.

Packers had 3 against Chicago and 4 against Atlanta including the 4 and out.

Not sure where Sharp is getting 14 from. This is disappointing as now I can't take his numbers without checking. :idn:

I keep looking at this game and I just think we lose. We are missing too much on the Oline to get anything going offensively. They are going to dominate the LOS.

Defensively I imagine they come out with a heavy Taysum Hill game plan where the option the &%$@ out of this defense.

Saints- 27
Packers- 17

I'm not too concerned about the final score. If we win, great! All I want to see is improvement in all of our young guys but especially Love. I like what I've seen so far. IMO his good play so far this year is very promising and exciting. :)

Same perspective. I'd like to see Jordan Love continue to build on his strong start, especially against a tough defense. And I'd like to see some improvement on Defense and if not, cut ties with Barry ASAP.

Hill doesn't scare my like what the falcons brought to the table. Way better run game. Carr can't move like the QBs we have seen so far. Both games the Packers DL was dominant early before getting gassed. Tackle better and get off the field this week.

The saints d is way better though. It will be a challenge but if ML schemes week they can be attacked. Esp with Marcus maye being out. He's a stud.

Overall.... again the saints as a whole is not a scary monster of a roster. Very winnable game. GB loses at home if they again beat themselves

Play as a team and the Packers tough this one out

24-20

Is it possible this is 3 and outs defenses have caused, not how many the offense has had?
