I’m not actually huge on this QB draft class. I have concerns about Caleb Williams already being a diva and being small. He’s a terrific college QB and one of the few to come out that can run and throw well but these small QBs get killed in the NFL and I’m concerned he’s only 6’.

I love Shadeur Sanders attitude and swagger and athleticism but I’m. It big on his arm.

I like Quinn Ewers a bit but the same size concern with Caleb and I don’t know if Ewers has what Caleb has as a passer to be all that great.

I love Maye though. I feel like he’s got some Justin Herbert to him with his size athleticism and strong arm.

JJ McCarthy to me doesn’t have the arm. He looks like a really good mid tier QB to backup. Andy Dalton type.

I am not in favor of drafting a QB in the 1st or 2nd round.

Draft a LT in the first and if there is not a LT worth the slot, trade down and take a LT later in the first. Spend the 2nd round picks on a guard and a safety.

You can point at pressure stats but that does not matter as much as what Love is thinking. Love is playing scared, just as Rodgers played scared in the playoff games when Bakh was out. Any QB with a poor LT is going to hear footsteps, even when the replacement LT gets lucky and stops his man. It only takes 1 blindside hit that snaps your head back and distorts your spine - you will remember that for weeks.

the issue i have is that Love SHOULD have walked into a good situation based on the preparing we did for him. We drafted people who would be ready by now (allegedly). It is a shame every thing around him is chaotic, which makes it harder to get a true read on him.
It was predictable that Love wouldn't walk into a good situation with both the wide receivers and tight ends completely lacking experience. With that being said I expected him to perform at a higher level.

Which horrible teams wouldn’t take QB’s?

Looking at Bears x2, Broncos, Raiders, Patriots, Giants, Cardinals, Vikings, Falcons, Titans, Commanders

Broncos and Giants really can’t move off their current QBs for like two more years, so drafting a clear backup.

Other than that. I would imagine every one of those teams would take Maye or Williams if they are in range in the top 3.
You forgot to mention the Packers as one of the terrible teams.

Since you want to talk about 2024 already ....

If the season ended today here's who'd be coming to Lambeau in 2024:

Lions, Vikings, Bears, Cardinals, 49ers, Texans, Colts, Buccaneers and the freakin' effen J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets.

Guess which game will be a prime time evening game.

If you can nab an elite pass rusher, I’d take him over a QB at this point. The Packers already have 2 QBs that are learning the trade why add a 3rd.

Or trade down and get a DL, WR, LT and a safety in the first couple rounds.

With just paying Gary, having paid Clark, and first round selections of Wyatt and Van Ness...surely that side of the ball has enough firepower to be competent. We need offense in my opinion.

Im all in for Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels if he comes out.

we've got pass rushers now out the kazoo, our starting QB is struggling and Carlson while smart and savoy is so limited physically, he was drafted to be a backup, doubt he'll ever be the type QB that can take a team to the promised land unless the rest of the team has the talent of the niners.

si imho Foosball, on average, if ya don't have a very good QB it's really hard for the rest of the team to over come the QB limitations, which means if the FO is in doubt with Love, and where in range for one of the best in this draft, our FO has no choice, it's just to hard to win in this league minus quality play at QB

And as you have said in other words, if you give a young so-so QB a great Oline he may become special. If you take the best college QB prospect with all the talent in the world and you let him take a beating by NFL linemen and LB's for a season or 2, you will ruin him or make him an injury bust. That so-so QB can be found in any draft round. That special QB is only found in the top 5 picks every year. For the price of that top 5 pick QB, you can get a good LT in the 2nd and a pair of good guards and a RT in the 34d, 4th and 5th. For a center, you just need to get lucky. I vote for the Oline which also gives you a running game/

The Packers have 1 elite pass rusher and that’s Gary and the other team can double team him. If you have 2 then that is a game changer. Why do you think the Niners traded for Chase Young when they have Bosa? Because if you can consistently disrupt and sack the QB you’re going to win a lot of games.

But no more QBs in 2024. The Packers have way too many other holes to fill for any QB to be successful.

Luke Van Ness better become the second good pass rusher by this time next year

If the Packers decide Love isn't a valid starting quarterback moving forward the position immediately becomes their most pressing need. That's why.

Exactly. If your a GM and fall in love with a QB that you believe is the next great QB and your off of Love, its a no brainer. OR

Draft a L tackle and add some more O-line guys and convince Andrew Luck to come out of retirement and sign a 3 year deal!!!!! :rotf:

the Niners also have Hargrave, what the Niners just did, and they got him cheap just like Buffalo got Douglas, is what all in ready to play for a owl teams do.

we just added 3 DL pass rushers to go with, Wyatt, Gary and Smith, Clark. next year we need to rebuild this OL, add a RB, safety, maybe ILB, pass rush is the most stocked position on this team :dunno:

Gary, Enagbare, LVN (as a project), Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden... that's a nice set of guys who can get after the QB.

One thing I would not mind that I think is lacking on this team are off-ball LBers that have blitz skills. It doesn't even have to be a stud LB; it can be a rotational backup one-trick pony kind of guy who's there almost solely for that (some ST value too to justify their roster spot).

Otherwise no, I would not prioritize pass-rushers in the draft. I would prioritize beefing up the trenches on O and adding playmakers.

One more comment and I’ll let it go. When Gary was injured last year, the Packers pass rush disappeared. If an elite pass rusher is available, I would jump at the chance to draft him and I hope the Packers will too.

If they took an alive pass rusher this year it would be such a massive waste of resources. You locked up your current top guy. You just drafted one with a top 16 pick. You have 2 good rotational players at the position in Enagbare and Cox. They definitely need to come off the Preston deal and cut him.

All that said the Packers need to change their philosophy. It’s paramount to get value out of rookie deals right now. Your star players and big contacts need to be just that but if you get pro bowl caliber talent on just a couple million in cap space you are at a colossal advantage.
