No big secret to this game.
Just keep mistakes down, and win in the trenches.
No turnovers, no missed FG's, have some nice offensive drives, running game is effective, control the clock.
D I like the idea of taking some chances. Be willing to give up a few big plays, but be willing to make them. Just get the O back on the field either way.
Need that front 4, Gary and Kenny in particular, to have their best games of the season.
Lions first outdoor game this year, rainy, Goff has little man 9" hands, they are for sure gunna want to run the ball a lot. So play up with 7-8 guys up at the LOS a ton, see if Goff can throw it deep.

This was the game I had circled as our must win in 2024.
Incredibly disappointed how last week turned out with injuries as we are going into the game with a lot of studs either banged up or not playing at all.
Quit making excuses GPG. These are the games when the unsung heroes become heroes. Got a feelin' the 3 young guys on defense will make it all happen. And Willis shocks the NFL with an amazing array of QB rushes and downfield completions. All Day Long! And into the early evening.
I would be absolutely shocked if Willis could pull away a W vs this team. I would be incredibly impressed with our defense if he does.
The Lions offense right now is at an historic level of efficiency.

Absolutely ! And so was the Packers offensive onslaught in 2011.
Until they were punched in the mouth by a KC defense that could productively rush 4 and drop 7.
We'll see if Hafley's Harriers are up to the task on Sunday - there's a lot riding on the Packers DL succeeding vs a very talented Detroit OL

I cannot follow the Packers that closely this season but is it not troublesome that Love is out again? Is he soft & injuryprone? It also looks from distance as if Willis produces at least as good as Love. Could Willis be on the brink to waive Love from #1 QB spot?

That is good news since there is plenty of time to figure them out. I remember 2008 and the Cowboys looking like the second coming of Christ early season only to collapse later. Us 2011 the same. Also look at the Vikings that looked a lot better some weeks ago than now.

They all regress to the mean eventually. It is a matter of when, not if.

a team has to have a weakness to exploit it, right now Detroit isn't showing any, so we'll have to create them, hopefully Lafleur and Havley have a few tricks up their sleeve.
sounds like it could be wet, which promotes the run, we need to block and tackle well.

It'd be great if we can win with 4. Up to this point, we haven't won with 4 for the exception of needing to use creative schematics to get our 4 rushers free. The Lions hanlded Flores with ease. Getting to Goff with 4 will be incredibly challenging because they are just so good at processing this stuff right now.

We effectively didn't allow Jacksonville a 1st down when Williams and Jaw were in the game.
And also allowed 27 points when they weren't in the game.
Yeah I would say they are difference makers.

Hopefully a full week back at SS will help Bullard shore things up there, as he has been playing more in the slot lately and may have simply been rusty.
No Ja hurts but the Lions are not really loaded at WR (weird, how can they be on such a tear without being stacked at this all-important position?!?!?). You have St. Brown who is a stud but Jameson Williams is out, and then it's like Khalief Raymond, Tim Patrick... no one overly dangerous.
There's also LaPorta at TE who is a weapon, but we have a DPOY-caliber safety and some athletic LBers, so it's not like we are hopeless to defend against a good TE, just need to find the guy who is up to the task.
I hope Love is not simply available, but mobile. Love on one leg is playable but you probably don't beat DET with that, frankly I'm not sure we would have beaten JAX last Sunday with that.

I truly believe the gap between Williams and Bullard is quite massive.
Even if DET doesn't have the full stable or catchers....St. Brown is legit. Like top of NFL legit.
Detroit is also incredible on the ground so we will need our front 7 big time.

100% Williams is significantly better than Bullard. They aren’t even in the same level. Williams is IMO our second best defender behind X. The guy just doesn’t make mistakes.

Valentine is no slouch, I think we will be fine in the secondary as run support/tackling/toughness is arguably more important than coverage ability vs the Lions.
On O we need to get some long balls out to whoever CB Arnold is covering. That guy is a DPI machine.

It is insane the lions haven't played outside yet this season. I hope it is nasty out.
We are missing players. They are missing players. So what. Go get it done. Guys need to win their 1on 1s. The lions OL is awesome but a known foe. Get nasty and raise havoc in the trench's.
Coaching will be key in this one. Lions like the aggressive we just going toan up and kick your ass. ML and co need to be smart and find ways to take advantage of an aggressive team. One match their intensity but also use it against them.
Great game for Half to scheme stuff up and try to rattle Goff
It's going to be tough but it absolutely can be done.
27-28 pack. Lfg

I think the weather is going to be a big factor in this one. A wet ball and slick field will slow down the Detroit offense all on it's own. Slow enough to where it's manageable to defend, anyway. Make the plays on 3rd down and GTFO the field.
