From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Zach Tom. You all know he has earned this honor numerous times.
The point is overachieving, not simply playing really well.
I took Tom and won this in his first start at LT, but now we have come to expect that level of play out of him so it's not a winning move anymore. At this point, he would need to shut out the ghost of Reggie White to be in consideration.

Not sure that happens. I don't think Jacobs elevated his play throughout the season. It started very high and he maintained that level. And how many weeks did he win?
Maybe I am counting on folks correcting a wrong. Week after week Tom gets one of the highest PFF grades. The man probably is feeling slighted when he comes here to check. Might feel under appreciated by the fans and look to leave in free agency. Not voting for him could result in losing hin and our OL becoming complete garbage and the team suddenly being overtaken by the Bears and the bottom of the NFC.

People are drawn to shiny things like numbers. Tom doesn't really generate numbers unless they are bad like sacks given up. Jacobs when they let him dominate creates numbers and highlights. I'd agree that Tom can win but he has to be going up against the DPoY to get the crowd to notice. Next year we might think about adding a handicap based on rank the roster and wins during the season. Cooper is certainly no underdog at this stage. But I think Tom being somebody without numbers is a bold choice and could get my vote if no real underdog emerges and the numbers guys each gets of share of those numbers.
Jacobs has won mainly by playing well in games where either he was the only person who didn't play poorly -OR- nobody picked the player that clearly overachieved in that game.
Jacobs also lost on some great games because somebody else was a bigger overachiever. In fact, some of the games he lost were BETTER than the games he won. (I know this because I took him one of those weeks).
So that's the deal with taking established, consistent players. They are safe options because they are likely to have a good game, and thus be in the conversation for votes, but they are not a bold choice. So you basically have to rely on no one else playing well, or nobody picking the guy(s) who clearly SHOULD have been the winner, to win with them.

It's all good. I'm just happy to finally make the board last week! I'm trying some pregame player pimping to get folks to notice and think TOM! TOM! TOM!

(We need to some up with a legit nickname for this guy)
Considering the natural match to his name is anus, I think it better we forego the nickname thing for now. Lord knows @lupedafiasco could have a field day…
