The first priority was to find a replacement center, which they’ve kind of done with this move. Makes sense to me. Apparently Banks has only given up 2 sacks in over 1k snaps.
Not sexy, but if we can have a dominant O-line, it wouldn't be the worst thing.
Rhyan did play C in relief for Myers during the season.
Anyway, pretty meh on this deal. I feel like I somehow have more questions than answers at OL. If Rhyan or Jenkins move to C and Banks fills in at the vacant spot, what's the plan with Jordan Morgan? Or do we move Tom inside, play Morgan at RT, and bench Rhyan?? Because I'd have rather played Rhyan another year for a fraction of the price and given him this deal if he played well.
My only positive spin I can put in this is maybe his run blocking fits the style we want for Jacobs, he brings that SF bully ball attitude hopefully, and our OL coaches are good at getting these kinds of guys to play better than how they were playing before. And it does fill a need and is probably a net gain over Myers starting at C again. But it's just kind of a weird move.

I will say it's hard to trust Rhyan. He always comes to camp out of shape and is a bit of a beach bum. If this Banks guy is a grinder then I guess I can see why they rather pay him instead.

I have to think the Morgan is going to get more reps at LT in an effort to take over there. Or he gets the opportunity to beat Rhyan at RG.Labrev wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025 15:09Rhyan did play C in relief for Myers during the season.

With still no guaranteed money being reported for Banks, this could be a 1 year deal and that's it, unless he earns another year.
LT - Walker/Morgan
LG - Banks
C - Jenkins/Monk
RG - Rhyan/Morgan
RT - Tom

Banks could be a replacement for either of Jenkins or Rhyan, and WAlker could be traded yet this year, Toms will cost plenty though, we've done well with low cost OL, guess that's about to change

I've been wanting to upgrade Oline for going on 3 seasons now. We still only have Tom and Jenkins, Walker is OK, could do worse, could also do a lot better, but he's ok at least. So we got a guard that has given up 1 sack in 2 seasons? Good. Why should I not be happy about that?
Agreed. I think Walker is our weak spot on the Oline and I think management is eying Morgan to level up to his draft status and take the LT starting role with Walker being a swing tackle his final year on his initital contract.paco wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025 15:14I have to think the Morgan is going to get more reps at LT in an effort to take over there. In case anyone is confused, I think this makes our LG, C, and RT positions pretty clear.

I have recently been critical of BG for his drafting, but I am equally laudatory about his FA track record. He usually does a good job on this type of player, so I expect that this will be a good signing. And in cases where his FAs have not worked out, they've been easy to jettison without much penalty.
Maybe the worst deal Gute has made. And that is saying something.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025 14:54This deal scream Billy Turder to me. He had two really bad years and last year had his best year but it was still very average. I would be fine with the signing but this is a wild pricetag for what has been a career mediocre player at a non premium position.

We all commented how important it is to solidify our Oline.
The best indicator of offensive performance is the strength of the Oline. This signing is putting money and size on the interior for a couple years. The investment is now is now there in the Oline.
They now need to produce
