Pro days generally are .1 seconds faster than combine times right?
It used to be Pro Days were faster. I don't know if that still holds. He doesn't lack speed or quickness on tape and his shuttle times show that too.

He's not elite but he's not Jarrett Boykin either.
Agree looks fast enough on tape.

This dude thinks God delivered him to the Packers because his whole family just knew it would be us for weeks to the point that he was trying to block it out for expectations management.

He's gonna play so hard for us!

Amari's dad coached Cobb at Kentucky and is a bit of a mentor for him. Nice.

40 time not important with him. He is a guy that finds the open spot. The crappy vertical is a problem though and shows on film.

But he will be fine. He prorates when catching. :hide:

Cobb's vert was 33.5

Jordy's was 31.

Winning jump balls isn't Rodgers game...that is why we have Lazard and Davante.

Seems to be some thought that he'll play some RB. Think Ty Montgomery, not Cobb. Not as fast, bigger, but will break more tackles than some of the other smaller WRs in the draft. Will wait and hear what the Packers actually have to say though.
Pretty much have to expect an upgraded version of Ervin, I think.
This is what I see, not Cobb. Maybe what Cobb should have been is McCarthy was innovative.

I like Amari with the single digit number.

Definitely reason for TBLS to have a chip on his shoulder now in Detroit. But whatever. ;)

My favorite comparison on Amari Rodgers is from Andy Herman. "He is like a Randle Cobb but more like the later years Randle Cobb when he lost his explosion"

So Amari Rodgers is the crappy version of Randle Cobb that fans wanted out of Green Bay and was so irrelevant that yoop never seems to remember to include him in the group of WR's that Rodgers had from 2015 - 2018.

Oh boy. Sign me up. ;)

When people make the Cobb comparison it’s to the player not the usage. Obviously, MM didn’t do the same offensive things as MLF. So yeah, Rodgers’ role will be the Ervin role. But in comparing players, Ervin is 40 pounds lighter and markedly faster. He was also a RB with almost no route running ability or nuance.

Rodgers is a receiver. He has the body type and versatility to do the RB stuff, but he’s a receiver who is a receiver coach’s kid. He runs routes and understands space and passing concepts and route trees. He is nothing like Tyler Ervin.

His player comp to Cobb is that he’s a slot receiver who is thick enough to also carry the ball out of the backfield. He’s quicker than fast. And he’s dynamic despite not being an elite explosive timed athlete. Plus the fact that they are close personally and Cobb also played in Green Bay.

If you want a scheme comp, he’s our Deebo Samuel, admittedly slightly less explosive. But that’s another thick slot with the body to carry the ball who has tape of dynamic playmaking on offense and the return game despite a lack of Ellie timed speed.

It’s a model of player that suits this offense very very well.

It's really a damn shame we had Ty Montgomery roll through here when he did. He would have been a perfect fit with LaFleur.

I’m happy with this pick! But I also wonder if he could be used as a secondary receiver out of the backfield too.
