From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
I admit I have more intrigue this year with rookie festivities than the last couple years just because it looks like several of these guys may be helping the team very quickly.
I think Kevin king just doesn’t like to talk much in public bc of his braces and lisp. I follow him on Insta and he seems like a cool dude!
haaaa, so your the guy that has been voting for Keven KIng all this time

Ha dude I’ve been too busy defending Aaron Jones for that.
Personally, I think Kevin King is injury prone and gets dinged up a lot, therefore he is unreliable. I think he went into the NFCCG with a quad injury, and his coaches pretended he wasn’t going to be affected by that. They left him on islands, they didn’t limit his snap count, they didn’t play Tramon who signed just to smile on the sideline I guess. The coaches set the dinged up injury prone cb to fail that day.
For playing a spot that is always going to get picked on as teams try to avoid Jaire, I think overall king had a fine year minus his final game. It wasn’t great, but it was adequate.
On insta King shares mindset posts a lot, shows off his cars, shows himself boxing. Seems like a guy that came from little and wants to play football and make a lot of money. He has made some money, he will need a decent year to make more. He’s a packer, I’m pulling for him to get very rich on a new team in 2022 after a good 2021. He let us down in NFCCG while being set up to fail, I do not hate the guy and he’s likable to me.

I heard back injury, quad injury, and hip pointer????? who knows, but I'd bet he played because even with the injury he was still a better option then anyone else.
T Williams was done when we brought him back last year, and Sullivan was toasted just about as bad as King, and none of the rest where any match for Tampas receivers, our stable of capable CB's was empty.
So Kelly and that other QB guy are trying out at rookie minicamp to give the team 3 arms (Love is still allowed, right? Players with limited NFL experience can be invited?)
And likely, they'll pick one of those two, sign him, and have Bortles, Love, and the tryout as the full team minicamp QBs later this month?
What's that other QBs' name?
Bob something, I think.
The Packers lunatic fringe is more visible because of sheer numbers. The Packers have one of the largest fan bases in all of sports. If the fringe percentage is the same as with other teams, then we end up with larger volumes of nut jobs. - JustJeff

Sounds like TJ Slayton might be a steal from this draft.
I know it's early but early returns seem to be positive.
Which returns? Where can I read them?
He apparently had his way vs the other crappy rookie Olinemen and he looks the part because he is huge. Andy Herman said you can see he is explosive as hell (he loves using the word hell) and Royce Newman was really the only one who could stand up to him.
Keep in mind there is no pads and no competition. But he looked like an NFL player.
and Royce Newman was really the only one who could stand up to him.
Speaking of Newman... am I the only one disappointed he's being lined up at OG right now?
I know we talk a lot about versatility and ultimately lean on it, but through two years, the team's m.o. has been to put rookies in one spot and let them learn it. Jon Runyan was a LG. Elgton jenkins--even though he was a college C and Linsley got hurt in camp and they were rotating backup Cs--was also a LG-only his first offseason
So if Van Lanen (LG) and Newman (RG) are both being pigeon-holed inside for their rookie years our OT depth didn't improve. Van Lanen seemed to be someone everyone though HAD to move inside. Newman was someone whose tape at RT was perfectly fine and his athleticism and size and length are perfectly fine outside... but he "looks" like an OG. I had him penciled in as a RT backup.
Cronk is out at RT and hey, maybe he has the best chance and will make the team. But given how much time off he's had with injuries and whatnot, and that he was undrafted, I'd rather he be slotted in behind a guy like Newman. Maybe it was just for the 28-person rookie minicamp. I'll watch it in the full team camp coming up. But I really want to see if any of these guys we have can cut it out at OT.
Slayton certainly has the physical prowess to be a great player, but there is a reason he went in the 5th...most likely just his tape and production. He seems to have a great attitude and love the game. I wish him the best, but will wait till full camp/preseason/and the season to make any long term projections on the late round guys. I’m just scorned by year after year watching a kid become a celebrity in camp never to be seen in the reg season.
That said, all the rookies seem to be armed with a level of gratitude and humility that feels rare. They seem like a great group of young men!
It's why I kept complaining about our draft picks. We have guards and guards only on the Packers.
Definitely need to draft a tackle next year.
I guess for me it's less who they picked and more that the best OT option of the group is still starting at OG. Like I would feel totally fine with both Newman and Jon Runyan Jr being groomed to be RTs, but the fact that they AREN'T doing that is what limits the depth; not who they are as players
havn't gotten to the draft recap yet, first 17 minutes is devoted to Rodgers and Love, Ben Fennell touches on key aspect of our situation, one thing that Stands out is with Atlanta and there 37 yr old Ryan, top 3 pick in the draft, a couple very good QB prospects sitting there, instead of drafting Ryans replacement, Atlanta selects possibly the highest offensive impact player in the whole class.

Yup. And it's fine as a Packers fan to see that when the Packers draft these type of players you know where they will groom them based on 20 years of precedent. Then you get to rookie camp and see they put Cole and Royce at Guard it only confirms what you feared and you're like wow....19 guards.
awesome.
And this is coming from a guy who doesn't worry about positional value that much but more believes in "just get me good players". However, we are starting to get to the point where we have Patrick, Jenkins, Runyan, Stepaniak, Meyers, Cole, Royce....we have at least 7 players that are looking to be groomed into the interior spots.
Even a guy like me who is not worried about positions is starting to raise an eyebrow.
Part of me wants to see Runyan get a lot of work at RT this summer.
