I didn't know about that rule about ejection if you shove someone without pads. I guess we learn something new every day.
The NFL rulebook is big. Normally it occurs when attacking a ref but a dressed person on the sideline also counts.

Most ejections are for throwing a punch or multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
If it's in the rule book why was it not an immediate ejection? I have my doubts that there is anything in the rule book concerning shoving a non-playing player.
I have my doubts about that as well, me thinks he's widening the gap between the lines, thinking we wont call him out to prove it :rotf:

Sometimes you don't know what you had until it's gone.

Mike never fails to cause me to cough coffee up my nose, but if that doesn't sound spot on under both Thompson and Guty I don't know what does, I'd bet a tarnished Indian head nickel it comes and goes today without a transaction too.

Mike really knows how to sell a laugh, thanks for posting NCF :aok:

Yeah you are probably correct. I made some assumptions that I am probably incorrect on:

1. I don't have access to the NFL rulebook.
2. I thought it was an immediate ejection but after further review, the shove happened with like 4:02 left in the half and the the ejection happened with 3:54 left so there was in fact a play in between. My memory was wrong on that.
3. It looks like it is a subjective ruling as the only rule I see after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is the ref can request New York to review it and make an ejection determination which is what likely happened here. So it was more on the subjective side than I originally thought.

I would laugh so $%@# hard if this regime trades for someone when they’re so far form a Super Bowl contender and in years where they’re so close they sat around and watched other teams passed them.

yoop you should know me better by now that I care far more about growing and learning on a topic in conversation than having the single goal simply to win an argument.

Pckfn23 simply had the astute observation that made me question my assertion and I am likely not as right as I thought I was 15 minutes ago. it's okay to concede being wrong.

geesh Buddy I said about the same thing yesterday, the ejection happened after booth review, and I was bombarded by you and a half doz others that it was the right call, hell the friends I've talked to, some as we watched the game all thought it was a ticky tacky call, the NFL is ruining this game with lousy officiating, I mean really really bad officiating.

Walker didn't even shove the guy hard, it was as though you and others that supported this call didn't even watch the play :idn:

hey, if your serious about learning more about the game simply send me a self addressed stamped envelope with 5.00 dollars enclosed and I'll send you all my notes collected over the last 60 years, I'll even throw in a autograph from Dandy Dan Devine :rotf:

According to “sources” (yeah, I know), Pack offered a 2nd round pick to the Steelers for Claypool. But the Steelers thought da Bear 2nd round pick would go higher. Again, that is according to “sources” in the know.

Interesting read. Not saying I agree or disagree, just interesting, so don't freak out.

Well I'll say something. I love how so many fans think you need to make trades to get better. Most of us thought this was going to be our deepest team in a long time back in August. Pretty much everyone on this board thought the defense would have to carry us until the offense improved but not many of us thought our offense would be a juggernaut this year. I think it would have been crazy to just throw it all away after 8 games.

The two biggest problems in my mind both are the fault of coaching. The Barry defense has underachieved because he relies on turnovers coming to them instead of attacking and causing them. The other big problem was the coaches decisions on our o-line. Pretty bad when 80% of the fan base thought Newman was horrible but they continued to think he would improve.

I don't see how a trade right now would make any difference in those issues. The o-line is almost back and it appears the players have started to take back the defense. I'm really excited to see what Watson and Doubs bring us the rest of the year. And having Hill back will bring even more jet sweep looks which really helps our run game.

I also can't believe our beat writers asked MLF what the players thought about not making a trade!! Just when you think journalists can't get any stupider they prove you wrong!

I am very proud of the beat writers this year. They’re finally doing what they need to for a team with no owner. No one holds anyone accountable on this team. It is up to the media and fans to put pressure on the organization and quite frankly it’s something they’ve both failed at over the past decade almost and especially during this Gutenbumst era.
