Jeebus this team makes it hard on themselves.

Happy for the win. Short week, can't sleep on the Giants.

So the Doubs TD drop. He gets two feet down with the ball under control. If his fett are down on the one yard line and he falls forward it's a TD, correct? But in the end zone you need to maintain control all the way through.

Do I have that right?
I think it's the same either way. I was holding out hope that if he had two feet with control of the ball they would rule a TD even if it comes loose, but the rules are pretty stringent. Think Dez Bryant and his overturned call in the playoffs at Lambeau a few years back. Cowboy fans tried to create controversy, but it was the right call. So was the non overturn on Doubs.

Feel like that kick gets blocked last year. Well done STs coach and Crosby!!!

Good snap, good hold, good kick. Good last drive.

Belichik put on an absolute clinic. Just hard to win with a rookie third stringer.

Survive the defensive struggle and advance
a ugly win is still a win, but we played poorly against the run, so poorly that we gave up some pass rush just to control the gaps, and even that didn't work.

I love our run schemes when the blocking is solid we must be getting a 5+ yrd average, but our pass schemes don't impress me , very few crossing routes, and to many behind the los, very few to RB's, and it's getting old watching Rodgers blaming the receivers, basically he plays hot and cold.

Was Watson hurt, did he even play in the 2nd half?

another edge of the seat game

Gotta come down with the ball in your possession if you are falling while catching it no matter if it’s on field or in end zone. He fell from continuous motion with the catch. Def a drop.

Yeah it was not a catch, pretty simple. Wish we wouldn't have challenged because then we might have been able to win in regulation due to having an extra timeout.

I think he challenged because they would have had to use a timeout to avoid DOG anyway.

Yeah that makes sense but if we already knew we were punting then :idn:

not exactly, if he runs into the EZ and the ball comes out he had control prior.

anywhere on the field a player catches the ball, but it comes out when he hits the ground it's ruled incomplete, not just in the EZ

the ground can't cause a fumble per se, but it can cause a incompletion :)

Can we blame Doubs or does stuff like that happen? I mean he falls right on his arm with the ball placed in and it pops out. I do not think there is any technique to make sure the ball cannot come out, so it looks to me not like a mistake, more a misfortune (but I never played any football, let alone advanced football, so I have no clue).

The last OT drive was very well done. That’s how the O should look all the time at its best.

Rodgers was out of pocket after his wasted down throw to doubbs who was covered and then his f bomb screaming at meyers. Young guys don’t always respond well to that in the moment and meyers was doing fine all game. Rodgers needs to learn to be above the moment and be an encourager to motivate and rally the troops. Last drive was good, that drive was the bad rodgers that only has one ring for a reason

He took his right hand off the ball to break his fall, thats hard not to do, human nature, the trick is to turn your body (shoulders) so as to keep both hands on the ball and not land face first, thats human nature as well, but it's easier said then done, whatever Doubs needs to make that catch, receivers do it all the time, and all over the field, Doubs has some drop issues he needs to play through.

He uses that second arm for landing, so yeah, that might be a mistake. If he grabs the ball with both arms he secures the ball and does not get hurt severely while landing.

Hackett took our offense with him, we do almost zero interior passing, I think maybe 5 passes inside the hashes today, mostly we do the side line los passes that depend on blocking to be productive, and those are so blue printed now, every team expects us to do this stuff, these are man o man dependent, we know you know what we are going to do, now try and stop us, and they often do, we still have series after series of 3 and out and stalled drives, the crosser to Lazard, seam to Cobb and Doubs where excellent, but we should be doing twice as much of it, Rodgers was terrible in the first half, oh wait it was those rookie receivers

I liked those plays on the last drive where we were fully content to just take what was given like when we passed it immediately to doubs and let him get 8 yards back to back.

I know I was accused of being pessimistic this week about the offense, but the truth is the pats defense was always to be respected because they didn’t fear our receivers. Without fear of our pass catchers, they were free to try to stop the run. And this put us in an “uncomfortable” position, and we all know how we get when we feet uncomfortable. We just try to throw a bomb or two to get out of the bad feeling. We respond like that almost everytime, so I did think we were in for a fight.

Something else...I don’t really blame our d for being soft against their run. Sure we would love to shut it down and that would be best, but they are a really good run team. Two good backs and a tough OL, physical mindset. They brought that mindset to GB today. No surprise to me they hit us in the mouth a few times.

In the presser AR owned up to his bad first half. He also said the defense dictated the opportunities were on the outside the kast two weeks.

We’ve played two great defenses in a row. Things get easier from here.

Good that Lafleur is using the moment to coach and not condemning doubs. We need doubs to have confidence. Ideally you aren’t throwing to a rookie in that moment. Ideally you have someone whose been there before. That drop is no big deal to me. We can just only hope that now that he’s learned, by playoff time..he catches that ball in that situation.

He couldn't roll as there was a defender in his back.
