In the last 3 years Carson Wentz: 34 TDs 31 INTs Averaged 213 yards per game and W/L record of 14-21-1.
In the last 3 years Carson Wentz made $89 million.

As a fan, I don't think we can afford an NFL that pays that much for that performance
.

The Raiders' data point is one of the craziest stats I've ever seen.

I honestly have no idea how LV's data point is even possible.

Checked the comments; widespread agreement that the number is a mistake, with some assumptions being that the database may have only included data from the Vegas years not Vegas and Oakland years.

Actually number looks to be ranked 30th at around 58k.

Good fact check, guys.

Another one bites the dust.
But I'm thinking the only reason for FAs pick GB in 2023 is if the Packers massively overpay.
But I'm also thinking everything will look different in 2024 offseason in terms of GB desirability & cap space.

I don't buy most of that

First of all, signing a 1-year deal shows he didn't have many good offers and he decided to try to prove himself and get back on the market next year.

Secondly, players in that position often sign places where they believe they can succeed. The Bills have a lot going for them, but an open starting safety position is not one of those things. Players often make decisions based on coach familiarity, scheme familiarity, etc. For instance, Campbell, a LB, signed with the Packers for a low-money 1-year deal and explicitly cited his past relationship with MLF as a key determining factor.

And finally, while I agree that the cap situation is not ideal this year and things will look different in 2024, that logic applies to top and mid-level free agents, not to low-money guys.

I believe that the Packers and Rapp did not match because the Packers didn't show a lot of interest. They clearly prefer more speed and athleticism at safety and Rapp had very bad testing. Rapp only had visits with New England and Buffalo. Often, the team has interest in the free agents I love (Campbell and Watkins, for instance, for better or worse). Often they do not.

There doesn't seem to be pursuit here. But a 1-year prove it deal for a guy who just signed to be a backup S in Buffalo is not being prevented because of cap space or the lack of appeal of Green Bay.

Haven't seen numbers yet, guessing they gun be big.

I would expected Gary to sign something similar sooner than later.

Highest DT not named Donald.

Not really sure where I expect Gary, probably a little more? I feel like he should/could be right at like Myles Garrett money, but he honestly just doesn't have the production? Although you sign guys for what they will do, not what they did.

whaaaaa? if that where the case my friend there wouldn't be rookie contracts, what ya have done, along with the perception that ya can continue to do it, is what gets a guy paid. and Gary has shown one season of very good production, and a acl repair, sure Guty probably will pay for a player he drafted, but I sure hope he doesn't give him the money Simmons just got, Simmons has been a stud since day one.

We shouldn't give Gary a extension till he proves 2021 wasn't a fluke, even then it shouldn't end up 25 mil. a season, edge rushers are more easily found then DT's, at least ones like Simmons

Simmons: since drafted, 67 pressures, 189 tackles 2 pro bowls = Stud Muffin

Gary : since drafted, 83 pressures, 135 tackles 0 pro bowls = Stud Dounut :rotf:

when ya consider Gary was in the shadow of Z Smith, and MIke Smith felt he needed more coaching up, the end result was a very high ceiling, so if he bounces back to 2021 form he should be paid like a top 5 or so edge rusher, whatever that becomes.

Simmons though has produced very well from the 2nd season on, and 3 down DT's like him are tough to come by, and why he just got that contract.

Rashan Gary cannot hold Myles Garrett’s jock strap in terms of production in this league, and that should, could, and will be held against him in contract negotiations.
