Tell that to Albert Haynesworth.Yoop wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025 11:46maybe, but players like Garrett play for more than just money, money just sets the value perspective amongst peers, they also have little control of leaving to chase a ring, most that do that don't end up with one, the 3 years guaranteed is what imho hurts the game, hurts teams.lake shark wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025 11:08Money talks. Will be interesting to see how he plays considering he has no real motivation to do anything but show up and watch his team suck to collect $ for the rest of his prime.
Crosby 35 mil., Garrett 40, how much will we pay Hendricksen? ouch![]()

DK Metcalf traded to Steelers for R2 and swap of R6/R7 picks. Also includes a new 5yr/$150mil contract.
No thanks. I’ll take Davante Adams as a consolation prize every time and twice on football Sundays.
Edit: well &%$@. I see Davante signed with the Rams. 2 yrs/$46 mil.

Seeing these contracts, I have no problem waiting until the top tier is signed. These contracts are a bit crazy.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we were legit offering a 3rd and and Doubs for DK and offering like 2 for 44 for davante and just missed out on both.
I could have swallowed that Davante deal, but I’m out on DK at that comp and contact.

I suspect it wasn't the trade compensation that killed any deal. It was the $$$ that Metcalf wanted. It is too much of the cap for one non QB or elite pass rusher.
Kupp at least has size but is still a slot guy.
MVS might make the most sense now. We just need someone who can make you pay if they play heavy man.

Well we have been caught with our pants down again at WR. Literally just needed someone to be the guy to go to on must have plays.
Kupp is a slot who’s old and often injured at this point. Slayton. Is literally the same as what we currently have but older. Cooper is washed. Diggs is crazy and coming off an ACL.
Gutenbumst is going to have to either pony up in the 1st or 2nd for a WR or trade back out of the 1st to end up with a very early 2nd.
Godwin might be our only hope as a veteran.

At this rate winning 9 games in 2025 will be a stretch.
f*ck it. Throw in the towel for 2026 and 2027 too while we're at it.

It was definitely a sellers market this year for WR. The Packers are never ready to out bid anyone so I’m not surprised with the turn of events. Disappointed, but not surprised.

I actually didn't think Kupp or Cooper are washed up, and they could be great 1 year prove it rentals.

Don't be disappointed, it's how it is, and it's likely better this way. Adams would have been nice. Really, Adds vet presence, goes about game the right way, can set example for younger guys, has the best first steps in the league and hasn't lost that and is a real good guy. But at that contract, I'm glad we didn't pay him. It's how it is with WR. It's the glitziest most overpaid position in football. Everyone falls in love with them.lake shark wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025 21:35It was definitely a sellers market this year for WR. They are important but if you have 3 guys on a team on offense you can have one excellent and the rest average, your OT OR your QB being the excellent one will have a much greater impact on your team with average WR than excellent WR and average OT or QB. and if we open it up to the entire team, I'd rather spend money, draft picks (trade) stuff on the real premium positions, QB, no need, Edge, DB, OT, etc.
and Metcalf, The steelers can have it. He's a talented headcase prone to blowing up with other teams, his own team, coaches etc. And they just paid, paid him. Nuts. How does an offense survive Metcalf and Pickett? Both very talented, but holy smokes there are going to be some crazy mental gymnastics keeping those guys under wraps all year.
WR's are important don't get me wrong, but there are also a lot of them. You can find them a lot easier than you can some of the other premium positions. GB has to do it of course, but it's not an impossible task to do thru draft or cuts.
As far as who's who of what's left at WR, a couple names I wouldn't mind reaching out to.
Keenan Allen. Always loved his game. I don't know if last year's drop-off was more on him getting old or more on Caleb Williams and the struggling Chicago offense. For many years, Allen was to the Chargers what Davante was to the Packers - a guy who just knows how to get open with great hands. Can he do it another year in an offense that is functional?
Demarcus Robinson. He has the talent and has had the occasional big game, but hasn't put it together consistently. He can fill the big play threat the offense is looking for.
Chris Godwin. Reliable and consistent. Always liked him as a player but just not sure he brings what this offense is looking for in terms of skillset outside of just catching the damn ball. Wouldn't be mad, though.
