Tom Silverstein in his podcast said a lot of things in Alexander’s locker have been emptied. He didn’t give any more specifics than that other than none of the players will talk about it.

What do y'all make of the noise that Zimmer is making about wanting to coach again? Naturally, our Packer press is all over that. I wouldn't mind him coming to GB. But I honestly don't recall what type of defensive scheme he runs. Anybody feel wise about that?

Opposite this year at least. The Fangio style is among the worst defenses in the league.

Fangio D probably isn't the way to go anymore
Blitz-happy schemes ala Rex Ryan are making a comeback. I've been saying we should do something similar.

Someone said that's a bad idea because we will give up big plays. Well we already do that, and we make none, and now lots of teams have made the calculation that letting up a few big plays is fine because you more than make up for it by making plays and instilling toughness.

I know Pettine was technically a Ryan disciple but he brought none of aggression, just the lame stuff.

Vikings are starting a rookie QB. We're doomed.

They figured this was about as easy of a first start that a rookie can get to start his career.

I disagree with Pettine to a point. 2019 was good. It tapered off in 2020. Pettine just made idiot game day decisions that cost us big time. He either couldn't control or didn't know how to play the OLBs against the run.

I legit think Musgrave is a match-up nightmare and a big-time weapon, but do we have a new TE1 going forward in Tucker Kraft?

I’m excited to see both on the field a lot.

Having Watson and Musgrave and Kraft on the field all at the same time gunna cause some huge matchup problems.

Throw in Reed and Jones.

Not really sure what you come out with on D. Musgrave, Kraft and Watson both gunna run past any LB you bring in. They are all gunna beat up any CB or safety you bring out.

The only thing about Musgrave that I think doesn’t make him a matchup nightmare is he just goes down so easily. Part of the reason why TEs are too big to cover by DBs is they can break that first tackle if it’s one on one.

You watch Kraft and he fights through everything.

My personal eye test concurs with this. Musgrave also seems to go down while simply making the catch. It seems his balance isn't quite on par with his raw athleticism at this point.

I just hope Lafleur can develop an offense where they both can be legit options and weapons on the field at the same time.
He never really could do that with our two quality RBs.

We don’t need it where one dominates one series, the next comes in for a later series. Or one becomes a blocker and one becomes a star pass catcher.

We need both in the game and both as legit threats in the pass game at the same time. Re: Gronk and Hernandez in NE.

I imagine a strong formation in the future for us is lining Musgrave and Kraft on one side and force defenses to play strong to that side. Meanwhile other side has Watson outside and Reed in the slot and you can do a ton getting Reed in space with that.

do you ever feel that Lafleur has done a good job with anything? it's like you look for anything Lafleur hasn't done simply to rag on him, who uses 2 RB's at once these days, and when have we had 2 zone stretching TE's, Jones and Dillon combined for over 2500 yrds a year ago, if that doesn't impress you I feel nothing will :thwap:

I think folks are allowing this issue with Barry to cloud there judgement of Lafleur :idn:

I like Lafleur overall.

I feel he never utilized the playmaking potential of Jones and Dillon on the field at that same time

I hope he can utilize musgrave and Kraft on the field at the same time.

This desire is not an indication of hate for the coach.

one has play making potential, the other, not so much, Jones has WR abilities, Dillon, no, he does not have those skills, so why waste time trying to make him one, Lafleur is limited trying to do that.

as to the 22 sets, well that sounds like it would be easy, right, but it's not, using both Musgrave and Kraft in that kind of alignment takes tons of practice, thats stuff typically reserved for OTA's and training camp, so they get it right minus busted plays, ya have to remember, plays that tend to take place in congested area's have a high degree of failure rate, and both are rookies, I expect we'll see that stuff next year.

anyway ya been hitting our HC pretty hard lately, he's not the only HC to keep a cord past the expiration date
