Do you have any examples of teams where a player at another position wears it?

In my mind ILB makes by far most sense, since they're close to the DL and other LBs to make adjustments up to the snap. No way anyone would hear, see or feel a player farther from the LoS in away games. Quay often taps a DL to switch their gap responsibilities. DL can't move before the snap. A SS could possibly do it, but would require him to man the box all the time.

EDIT: I guess it isn't as rare as I thought, and comms getting cut off 15 secs before snap makes it irrelevant for last second adjustments, anyways. So we might well give it to X. On the other hand, for the same reason I doubt the relaying of the called play is a problem for Quay. That part doesn't require thinking after relaying it. But I think a LB kinda HAS to be the one making gap adjustments, since they're the only ones close enough to linemen to do it. :idn: https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2022/3/7/ ... sive-backs

I kinda feel like McKinney should wear the dot, rather than Quay's dumb ass. X sounds like one of our smartest players.

See above. We might as well give the dot to X, but it would be hard for him to make any last-second adjustments, since he's often lined up deep. So SOME linebacker kinda has to be responsible for the part that takes thinking right before the snap.

Already getting chippy on the field before it starts. Nixon got in Diggs face at warmups. Probably not the wisest thing to do. Reminds me of Deangelo Hall got in Hopkins face and got cooked on hard knocks.

Run D after Quay went down wasn't great. Time will tell.

You are right. The 12 and 17 yard runs on their last drive spoiled my memory.

Our run D often isn't great with Quay in, either, and he is the culprit on the big runs we give up like 9 times out of 10.

I like what we are doing with Cooper, bringing him along carefully and weaponizing him on stuff he is good at now. I think that plan has been sound, as much as we want to see more of him. We saw today he still has stuff to clean up so I don't think we should start him full-time just yet. That said I do hope his snaps ramp up over the course of the season.

Wilson seems much more trustworthy than Walker though. I support wholesale swapping their respective timeshares.

I am but that wasn't actually sarcasm. Mixon had 9 carries for 78 yards in the 2nd quarter. 2 carries for 3 yards in the 1st quarter. Then 14 for 34 in the second half. That 2nd quarter after Quay went out was brutal. 2nd half was pretty good.

Yeah. And really, the Texans weren't able to open it up when they had chances and better field position. That's a tribute to our D.

Agreed, second half adjustments helped. He did have 2 but otherwise less then 100 yards passing. Willing to give up a few running plays

I was hoping the D would limit Houston to 20, and they gave up 22.

Including 10 points after turnovers resulted in the Texans starting inside the GB 15 yard line.

This is the first game I can say with certainty that the Pack won because Hafley was the DC and Barry was not.

The constant blitzing, with varied schemes was wonderful to watch.

As I said before Hafley’s approach reminds me of Spags in KC and for those not paying attention the Chiefs SB win last year and unbeaten record in 2024 is due more to their defense than anything else.

Williams, McKinney, Cooper, Bullard (and today even Eric Wilson) make watching our D an enjoyable experience. Moving Gary around made me want to cry out of happiness after enduring year after year of zero innovation.

Now, if Jeff can somehow get Kenny Clark and Preston Smith to start earning their contracts and LVN to start justifying his lofty draft status, the D might really be something.

Surprised on yards.

The Packers defense is 15th in total yards and passing yards.
The Packers defense is 10th in points allowed. The Packers would be closer to top 5 in points allowed if not for the points essentially given away by the offense and STs between MIN, LAR, and HOU.
