Lafleur nailed it, we start games flat, we lack emotion, Loves pick six was a great example, they showed blitz and we didn't pick it up, Love looked like he was running in mud trying to escape that blitz, terrible play.
I mentioned that a few times yesterday. Repeatedly, Reed, Kraft, Jacobs seem to be ready on offense. I'd throw Wicks in there too he's just missing it right now. Every one else seems to lack urgency, energy, focus until we get slapped into it. This week was ok. But we can't get slapped into 28-0 too many times and expect to be called a good team or come back and win many.

This team needs to get in the effin' game when it starts.

And even on defense, we have guys who are clearly playing hard and others that seem to be out there, but with little effort or energy. almost as if they're trying to feel it out, rather than get into it.

@APB I think that completion from Love was mostly due to luck. It was not the best throw of his career thus far. He threaded the needle on a TD throw against the Cowboys last year. That was a better throw and also not a dumb decision. Love is going to need to play with more consistency. He makes at least 2 very dumb decisions per game. He needs to improve his accuracy. If he can’t do these things, then this organization I will be in a bad spot. But hey, I can remember the days not too long ago when players had to sort these issues out before they were awarded generational wealth.
I think bad defensive play was what caused the luck. Love threw the ball as accurately as it could be, but when the ball was in the air, there were three defenders round Reed; when it came down, all the defenders were on Reed's right with no-one between him and the touchline. They should never have let Reed make the catch.

Something not talked about much is that the OL doesn't seem to be pass blocking well. That is leading to a lot of the issues, IMO. But Love has reverted back to his early 2023 form, being inaccurate and bad decisions. Kraft is looking like a Pro Bowler.

The team played hard when Willis was QB the whole game. But yes there does seem to be a taking for granted mentality that with Love back they will just end up victorious.

The good news is this stuff can turn around on a dime. The team has loads of talent. You can see it. Frankly now is not the time to peak anyways.

While I agree the decision was poor, I'll give him credit for dropping a 57 yd absolute dime of a pass. It was perfect.

The pick-6 was also a very poor decision. I'll chalk it up to a young player still having too much confidence in their own ability to make every play. Not a terrible problem to have but it will cause some head scratching moments from time to time until he figures it out. I'd rather have an uber confident QB slinging the ball with confidence with occasional poor decisions over a Justin Fields type who has all the talent in the world but lacks the confidence to trust his talent and instincts.

i think the pick 6 was less about confidence in HIS ability, and more about not enough confidence that NFL defenders can do amazing things. Dude came out of no where and snagged that ball. It was a great play. But ya Love should have got out of the pocket and thrown it out of bounds immedietly. Play was doomed from the start. He went full Will Levis on that play...never go full will Levis.

I'd agree, they seemed more dialed in as a team when Willis was the QB.

I also think taking the safety in that situation would have been worse. Still inexcusable throw, but it actually worked out better for us in the long run to get the ball back and have a scoring drive of our own before halftime.

the difference between a nfl player giving 110% and then slacking back to 90% is the difference between winning and losing, wouldn't think coasting on a few plays would be such a detriment, often though thats when game deciding plays happen.

but we see that so often when we start games, DL with there feeble pass rush, Walker standing flat footed in zone as receivers or RB's catch passes in that same zone, Gary containing the edge on a pass play, and immobile QB, :thwap:

every season this team starts slow, looks poorly coached, and that frustrates us all, more so this season as we expected better, again though it seems a work in progress, powers on, we just now have to screw in the lightbulb lol.

The pick-6 was probably doomed from the start. Walker was looking inside and didn't see #56 until it was too late, so Jacobs took #56 leaving #0 free.

he was well outside the pocket when 56 really got close to him tho. He should have immidietly tossed it out of bounds. But its all good. I bet he learns quickly from that one. Hes not fields, levis, or dan orlowsky

The entire play is confusing to me. What’s the need for Love to even run back into the end zone?

This guy sucks, but it's nice to review plays in the All-22.

I want someone's all-22 breakdown on this play, because it made no sense to me. What was the route they were trying to throw it to?

Because Love rolls right, has only two WRs on that side, but right before turning for the desperation throw while getting tackled, he was looking like he wanted to throw it against the grain to the middle of the field to someone. Must have been the WR who started on the other side that we don't see on TV. But since the Rams were on man coverage, seems unlikely there was anyone wide open enough to risk it.

Still, it seemed like Elg missed his assignment, and Jacobs correctly blocked the innermost threat. That still left a free rusher.

I think Jenkins did the right thing. If Walker just takes #56, who is closest to him, then Jacobs could take #0.
