:idn:
I mean it’s all been discussed, it’s a crowded room, either we keep 7 or gotta make a tough choice. I would say no doubt Toure is behind as a WR, but has more upside and it would appear more ST value. Not sure either guy would suit up a lot either way. But I’m not sure they keep 7, if they don’t, I got a small lean towards Toure right now.

I had a conversation with a couple of the young guys about the standard we’re going to hold them to. They are rookies, but they’re NFL players and what’s been on film hasn’t been good enough as of yet. There’s been some splash plays, but there’s been a lot of mistakes.
Plural rookies; Rodgers talked to "a couple" of young guys who "are rookies." Watson hasn't been out there. Sounds like Rodgers is talking to Doubs and Toure about mental mistakes.
Rodgers wouldn’t be saying that stuff if he didn’t believe in both those guys and see their importance to the teams goals. It’s a compliment to be a rookie and be mentioned by 12 in my opinion

He said in a recent locker room interview that "if I'm getting on you during practice, that means I believe in you. If I'm ignoring you, it's a bad sign." Or something like that...

Yeah, I'm just gettin' high and having fun.

I love Toure. Think he could have a career like Adam Theilen. Including spending his rookie year on the PS.

I was actually just making my comment after you mentioned who the two were. I wasn’t implying you were saying something negative about them.

Gute will keep 7, but I don't think Winfree will be one of the 7.

Lazard
Watkins
Cobb
Doubs
Watson
Rodgers
Toure

Winfree to the PS. The Packers have kept 8 before(2018), so I wouldn't totally rule that out. But more likely that Gute keeps 7 on the 53.

Those of you thinking Cobb or Amari Rodgers are gone, are just not thinking clearly, sorry to be brutally honest.

It's the same old same old with the offense. There is just no fire in them. I have to feel like some of that is LaFleur's low key personality. The whole unit is a lower level for energy. Steno is low key as well, so he hasn't brought any energy to the dance. Today was the first day I missed Hackett. Aaron isn't exactly a higher energy guy either. The O sleep walks through the process. This shows on Sundays against good teams. The Packers O gets owned by high energy, good defenses. They have been getting owned all camp by their own D.
This is a really interesting point that I hadn't considered when Hackett left; we are not left with many guys on the O side with that kind of enthusiastic energy to fire us up. It leaves a bit of a void. The D has had guys like Gary and Douglas stepping up and being vocal, not to mention D-Coord himself. 'Teams has Biasccia.

But yeah, who are those guys on the O? I've heard Bakhtiari can be pretty vocal, but that loses something when you're stuck on the sidelines. I have noticed that Lazard can be pretty feisty, and now that he's set to get a bigger role, maybe he could be one of those guys. Big Dog is said to be a great locker room presence but does he fire guys up when they need a shot-in-the-arm? I've not seen that. :dunno:
Im generally okay with the offense being more business like and precise and less likely to commit penalties, where as I was some violent dawgs on the defense who will get some well time personal fouls every now and then. Lafleur is paid to run the O, he obviously doesn’t know much himself about STs. And Rodgers is paid well to help him run the O. The two of them shouldn’t need many cheerleaders to keep the guys hungry and focused. I’m worried about the lack of a TE, injuries on the OL, and the loss of Adams at WR...not the players motivation to get rowdy and score.

Play starters next week or don't play starters?

Personally I am in favor of playing them all for at least a quarter, possibly a half. That was before last year's rout in week 1. Since then, I can't get the bitter taste of unpreparedness out of my mouth.

I'm definitely onboard with the starters playing 2 series.

Really different with this awkward bye in two weeks, not sure how much chemistry Aaron could get with his WRs in 5-6 passes, but I think it’d be good for the OL and RBs and such too.

I don't care about chemistry as much as being ready for the pace of the game. Even preseason live action is more intense than practice.

Winfree is better than Toure and Rodgers. But more likely to be cut. I don't think he clears waivers.

Yeah Winfree seems to solidly be in that second tier of the WR group with Doubs, both behind Lazard/Cobb/Watkins. Not to mention, he has taken ST snaps (gunner). I never doubted his talent, just wasn't sure if he had a role, but he seems to have carved one out.
I haven't seen Winfree as a gunner on teams much. Samori Toure is the one that is the very talented gunner that Bisaccia likes.

As Gute says: "It's more about the final 69, than about the final 53."

Winfree is headed to the 16 man practice squad again. Hopefully he stays hidden there, because injuries will move him up to the active roster at points during the season.

Winfree will be picked up by another team for the 53 this year. He is at worst the 5th WR on the Packers, but Gute will cut him because he foolishly won't give up on Rodgers. It is like holding onto a bad stock pick hoping it will go up again, instead of cutting your losses and getting into something better.

dont get all the dislike for Rodgers, he seems to be blamed any time he touches the ball and the result isn't a positive play, for example the kick he field at the 3 yrd line, if he hadn't grabbed it and the ball didn't go into the end zone, the results would have been worse.

and the complaint of running the wrong route against the niners, just maybe Love shouldn't have thrown the ball, Gunners are a dime a doz, kick returners are few and harder to find, imo Rodgers is a lock and Touri goes to the PS

I will go with what I have seen live with my own two eyes over whatever problems you personally have with Amari.

Many people said Winfree would get snagged off the PS last year and it never happened. If we lose him, then so be it. We will see what happens on the 30th before arguing about this. Maybe you will get your wish and Winfree makes the 53. Even if that happens, I still don't see Amari getting cut.
