I don't think we should be as negative as we are being. Bears offense has been bad but they changed OCs so for all intents and purposes this was a totally different team than the one we had been seeing up to this point.

You people have also been acting like Caleb Williams is a slouch. He has played poorly because the OC was not using him right, but the guy was a #1 overall pick for a reason. He showed us why today. If they keep getting this version of him, Chicago won't be a pushover anymore.

Also, this game is just another regular season game for us, but for Chicago, playing us is their Superbowl. There are definitely bad plays by us, it makes sense to be disappointed about those, but I disagree that we should feel bad that the Bears took it to us.

Maybe time to bring the Gold Zone plays back so we can win one game with a little less anxiety.
Gold Zone plays?

Serious question. If one believes this team is just a pretender and gets no joy in a win today, why even watch going forward?
I am happy we won. I see just an average football team out there right now and I expected more so far. (see what Detroit has been doing right now). The lack of Joy is probably because we wanted to look like Detroit this year and we just got lucky beating a &%$@ team.

You are right though that teams can turn it it around, like they did last year. We watch going forward because we are fans and HOPE that they become what we think they could be.

So then you do not fall into what I described. You are happy we won and you have hope that we can realize our potential. That's not what I was wondering about. I think most fall into what you described.

No doubt every Packer fan is frustrated by the team not meeting it's potential.

Correct. We can't put 60 minutes of football together and many of our mistakes, while correctable, have not been corrected in Week 11 yet. That's what comes with being the youngest team in the league.

We made the Giants and Panthers look good last year too. That's what is most frustrating. Bears defense has great stats but haven't really played any offensive juggernaut teams yet.

Ok but seriously we need to stop electing to receive. Let's just get the ball back in the second half.

We have scored first 8 out of our 10 games. I doubt we will be changing our philosophy there.

If we don't win the SB, they'll get to go "I told you so" and act all smug and smartypants for a bit.

And since the chances of us NOT winning the SB would be high regardless of being contenders or pretenders, they can do this every season. If the Packers DO win, they can just say "we got lucky" and enjoy the win.

Sort of the strategy of not committing to a relationship out of fear of heartbreak. It's $%@# sad. :idn:
I don't think this is a SB caliber team but we are still pretty darn good. Having a 7-3 record is nothing to sneeze at. There are several teams who would love to in our shoes.

The fire Bisaccia crowd should be thinning after 3 game winners on the last play over the past 4 games...

Overall we may have been lucky to win, but I refuse to count a blocked FG as a lucky play. A double doink is lucky, a block is earned. Santos had real low trajectory on the 50+ yarder, and I think we were close to blocking one low XP, too. Brooks took an advantage of that, kudos to him and all pushing the line.

It just feels...foreign to have our STs decisively win their part of the battle, like they did today. But I could get used to it. :dunno: :beer2:

Yeah, there are viable arguments for either option. MLF clearly prefers to get his offense out there and jump out to a lead. I can’t fault the decision, especially when it’s been working.

For me if you defer and find yourself behind at the half you get it first to try and get the lead. And if you are ahead at the half you get the ball first and build on that lead making it harder for your opponent.

Packers are 7-3 and I was sitting here asking myself why I feel sort of MEH.

We are literally 3 plays from being 4-6. I think that's why. I know one shouldn't think that way but its hard not too.

Yeah, to me the contender/pretender -thing is kinda silly. It's just different levels of expectations. But it can be unhealthy if it comes a commanding part of your fan identity. Like believers of "we are contenders" trying to shut up all criticism of the team, and believers of "we are pretenders" tunnel-visioning to seeing only the negative things and not enjoying a win like today's.

One-and-done playoffs make expectations come flesh. And they are such that contenders have to hope they don't lay an egg, pretenders have to hope to get hot at the right time. Hope is what unifies all fans.

Along the same lines they are 2 plays from being 9-1. I know what you are getting at. The Cardinals game is the only game we just pretty much dominated. Don't look now though, put the Cardinals lead the NFC East!

Our potential high. We need to realize it. The things that plagued us before the bye didn't really plague us today (drops, penalties, bad decisions by Love). A really poor defense and 2 dumb plays in the red zone did. It's as if we put a finger in one leak and a new one pops up.

Yup.

I still want to defer.

I prefer that as well, but it isn't the only viable option and receiving has been working out for us.

We would have lost a possession had we not received. We lost the toss, Bears deferred. You take the ball every single time.

I’m not talking any crap after this game about the Bears. I’m not going to apologize for winning but I’m just taking the W, saying thank you, and moving on.

We didn’t play well on defense. It worries me that Jaire can’t stay on the field. It’s a trend. We need him. The other guys have too many vulnerabilities to miss him. We can’t help everyone.

I think our defense was a little ill prepared too and came out flat. They can play better than they did today, and they need to.

I am going to give da Bears full credit. They played a good game. They changed the offensive scheme and it worked virtually all game. They didn't score a lot, but their clock-using, ball-control played a big part of that. They had TOP over us by a lot. They should win 4 out of 5 games like that.

I'm glad that Gary showed up at crunch time, even on a bull rush!

I'm also glad that Watson seemed to be featured today. He made a difference.

And we are beginning to see why 8 is an upgrade over Aaron Jones. We can count on him to run hard and get yards. He even snatched a high pass with great hands.

Every W is a good W. Da Bears might've been over-performing. But their D has not been a joke and their O fixed some glaring problems. They deserve credit.

This is the time of season that teams must learn how to win. We always need help from unlikely places. And that seems to be happening this year. But gosh, we need to find some pass rush.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!
