I have to say, if they think the OC of the team wouldn't be on the card, they are idiots.

I absolutely believe the report.

Father time is undefeated. All the 41+ year old QBs with 300+ attempts in a season:

Minnesota has doubled down on JJ Mccarthy being their starter. I don't think they have any interest in Rodgers as their starting QB. They would have to do some interesting cap gymnastics to sign Rodgers and there is just no way they sign him to a 2 year deal.
could be, but the smartest thing Minny could do IMHO is hire Rodgers to start this season if he'll take a one-year deal, actually I think that's what's holding Minny back, possibly issues going to Pitt as well, Rodgers I expect wants a two year deal.
Jesus NO!. The smartest thing they could do is not even think about bringing him in. I'd rather see Case Keenum back in purple than Rodgers.

hey, I agree 100% :). I was very much hoping they'd cave and sign Keenum to a big contract to keep him. Didn't get my wish though :(.

Case wasn't why they won that year. A lot of people don't understand that. Granted, he didn't play poorly, but he wasn't the reason they won. 15,75 ppg on defense is why they won. There is one team that has done better on defense since that year. The 2019 Patriots were at 14.06 ppg on defense. But alas, I'm talking out my butt again about how defense wins. The point being, you don't need a Brady or Mahomes to win if you have a good defense. It helps for sure. But it's not required. Case is proof of that. FWIW, Cousins had a better year every year in MN than Case did. What he didn't have was a better or as good defense.

Oh brother, this again?

"To win," what, regular-season games? Sure, you can win a lot of those with middling QBs if the defense is elite.

To win championships? No, you can't win that way, not often enough for anyone to rationally consider it a viable model.

There is a reason the Case Keenums of the world virtually never hoist the Lombardi trophy. That Ravens team led by Dilfer was an outlier, pretty much the only example of it happening in the modern era. Apart from that 1 anomaly, it has been full-scale dominance by elite QBs (hilariously, specifically the two you say aren't needed: Mahomes and Brady).

So you came up with 2 examples, one which I already mentioned that took place 25 years ago, the other took place 40 years ago (and the game was very different than the present, much more O-friendly era).

Even if I gave you that Bears team, you think the smart thing to do is go with the thing that has succeeded a whopping 2 times out of 40? :|

Vince had 3 vintage cards. 1956, 1964 and 1965. Bud Grant had none. :slapfight:

Vince was probably the best coach ever. At least in my book. Even better than anyone today. Who else has the number of championships in the number of years he did? No one.

Would never argue against Vince as the GOAT, but remember that the game was a whole lot different then. Much like college sports now with NIL and the portal as opposed to the way things used to be. Both were much easier, or at least simpler, to manage in the past.

Jalen Ramsey is apparently on the trading block...

Would be 10M cap hit this season, 20M of guaranteed option years remaining. Ramsey will be 31 years old this season. Dolphins would be eating 25.2M in dead cap, so will probably not take just any offer.

Wait until June 1st and swap Ramsey for Jaire straight up? haha

(I wouldn't love that)

9ers lost out on Adams by telling his agent, essentially, that they were not looking to pay top dollar to sign guys....

Based on what I've read from this short exchange, I agree with you. Curious, though. Would you consider 2007/2011 NYG to qualify?

Tom Landry coached on that team too. And yes, he's also on the card.
Pretty good coaching staff there.

My reply was to the claim that you can win Superbowls with Case Keenum quality as QB1. No, you can't. That happened like two times (Keenum notably not being one of the two). And no, Eli Manning may not have been an elite QB, but he was FAR better than Case Keenum.

We have seen quite a few less than elite QBs win the SB. My opinion is that they all have a very common trend which is a dominant front 4. I think the league knows the front 4 it’s important but they don’t focus it as a data point as much as they should.

Like Eli was a pretty good QB but not elite. He won both his SBs on the back of one of the more deep front 4s ever. How Flacco won with a dominant front 4. Nick Foles won with a dominant front 4.

Now the Eagles key to their last success came against on the back of a dominant front 4. Even the 49ers despite not winning a SB have been to the bowl a few times because they had what was probably a league best defensive front to include LB between P Willy and Warner.

Correct. And I’d go so far as to say Eli Manning is an all time elite postseason QB. Without seeing the stats.
