From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
My main takeaway of this group is that I REALLY like them all. I like them cumulatively. They offer a variety of skillsets and body types and allow us to create matchup problems for different guys in different weeks. And the relatively even playing field of all these guys being young and developing and the same level of no-name with star potential.... there's no forcing anything.
Which is why I made this post. There's some chatter about Davante returning after he posted a video about how nice Love looks. I loved Davante. I do. not. want.
When Love started his first game in 2021 against the Chiefs, Love targeted Adams 14 times. He was forcing the ball to his elite #1 the same way Rodgers did, but without the supernatural mental connection. Adams, while not a diva, has talked openly, especially in Vegas, about wanting more targets. He's an alpha and he deserves all the targets, But our offense is clicking on ALL cylinders without that. I don't want it. I couldn't want anything less.
Totally agree. I think people in general underrate the importance of such a dynamic. Like you're not going to outperform a passing attack with Davante or any other top WR if you have 5 bums with great chemistry, but if the WRs are all decent enough then this type of thing is far superior to having a top WR with an ego. Or a top WR period because then your offense becomes a lot more one-dimensional.
Anecdotally, I seem to remember Rodgers early on targeting only Ruvell Martin or Jermichael Finley and we only started winning once he started spreading it around. And then of course he reverted for the rest of his career to a 1-WR guy again.

Also, anecdotally, look at the games Davante missed which forced the spread the ball approach and see how this offense always had it in them to work without that elite dynamic.
Don't get me wrong, LOVE Davante. If you have a bunch of meh weapons, you need an elite one. But if you have a bunch of good weapons, the elite one isn't necessarily a value add, especially if he becomes a target hog.

actually Rodgers was noted to spread the ball around, specially early before the receiver group dried up mid 2016, 17 heres one season, but if you jump forward or back to 08 you'll see all the talk about Rodgers not spreading the ball around mostly excludes years prior to the receiver decline.

Nobody talked about AR not throwing the ball to all his receivers early in his career. Later in his career when you had to be deemed worthy to get a target did shots dry up for the unknowns.

Texas just did, and you quoted the same post I did.
later as I said the receivers where lousy, so he developed more chemistry with his go to receivers, normal.
