So Sweat is flagged for offsides on a play that essentially ended the half giving the Vikings another chance, and they choose to show a replay from the backfield angle on the opposite side lol? Are you &%$@ me?

I mean maybe he was, but that is the view you show for a replay? These guys suck

I was saying before the play went off that the end was offsides. Switched away after the flag. :munch:

Haven't been paying too much attention. Did the Vikes lose a lineman?

I believe O'Neil went out.
I came into this world KICKING and screaming, naked, and covered in blood that wasn't mine.
I am prepared to go out the same way if I need to.

Pretty sure they had him walking back into the locker room and I'm not sure if he came back out.

He has definitely regressed since Nagy was fired. Just what many if us hoped for after their Lions loss and predicted once fired. :)

Was never a fan watching Caleb at USC. I thought he looked mostly like Johnny Manziel or Baker Mayfield. Bakers fine but not for a #1 overall pick. I also thought Williams didn’t have Balers swagger or likeability. Caleb always came off as your typical California prissy boy.

Might as well give them comically large D&D dice and just roll for it rather than kick onsides.

possibly biggest secret known to mankind ( outside of accurate weather forcasting  ) is to know if this college QB or the other one will be a good pro :rotf:

personally, I think a team has to have all ducks lined up perfectly for a rookie QB to succeed, and that goes for whatever slot they are drafted in, early picks typically are the more ready prospects, but their fail rate is still very high if they're forced to start year 1.

better player to slot value are those taken a bit later and coached up a few seasons prior to starting as we've done with our last 2, obviously there are exceptions to this rule.

the position is so dependent on the ability for the newbie not to become mentally destroyed, almost an impossible task considering the ability and speed at the pro level, we hear comments that the game has not slowed down yet and it's true, that's what we see, I gave up predicting the future of rookie QB's eons ago, it became demoralizing to be wrong so often :rotf:

I'll just say that maybe I was biased by my USC fandom, but I think Caleb Williams is a tremendous talent and I also said consistently that he's the kind of guy who needs to sit and have the fundamentals and footwork drilled into him and be a teensy bit humbled by the process without having his confidence ruined and take a yearish to get used to the speed of the game.

There are guys who I think can just come in and ball, but I'd use caution. Caleb was never one of them. He drew comparisons to Mahomes for his magic, but even Mahomes needed Andy Reid coaching and scheming for a year while he learned from a vet. This was not a pro ready pick. Never was. Lack of patience and discipline in the coaching and development process is ruining more QBs than the league can handle. Even heard it on the broadcast last night: teams are failing QBs more often than QBs are failing their teams.

IF the Bears get a competent coach Williams could turn out to be a good QB.

He can run and he can throw, but right now, he sees the field for &%$@. So many plays to be made that he isn't.

Yes. Caleb is not and never was a pro-ready NFL QB. His footwork & fundamentals are abysmal and instead of improving as the season rolled along, he has regressed to playground ball. He's killing team morale at this point, his team mates are starting to realize how un-ready he is for the NFL

He needs a year in the McCarthy QB school + a former QB as a QB whisperer ( Tom Clements) He would also benefit from a veteran bridge QB to help him learn how to be a Pro in this league. The bears $%@# this up from the very beginning; this season has been 100 % exactly what you DON'T want to do to a rookie QB.

The HC losing the team, getting fired. The gut-punch laden losing streak. Now I'm hearing that GM Poles is chafing under Kevin Warren's leadership and that impasse is giving candidates additional concerns about taking the job in a dysfunctional organization. If Poles stays, then the only HC candidates will be ones OK having him as a boss. If Poles leaves, then the new GM is going to demand not reporting to Warren, that too may limit the candidates
Kevin Warren has completely screwed the pooch on the new stadium efforts in CHI, but that's a conversation for another day

The amount of helium pumped into the bears and Caleb this offseason was just absurd - and that too led to tissue tension when none of those ridiculous expectations came to fruition. The bears suck from top to bottom and everything in between.

2024 was wasted, Caleb is still 1-2 years away from being a competent NFL starter, that's just how long it takes even with the right resources.
The dumbass Bears thought they could skip the early steps, so now they get to repeat them.
