The Way a Packers Forum Should Be

Yes I believe that. When you have two players who are nearly identical in stats and you have a young player who will likely win more and an older player who likely has his last shot at this award....sports writers absolutely think of that stuff when it's dead even.Yoop wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 13:49seriously, do you think the 50 sports writers that do the chosing give a hoot about that? I don't, and what fans want wont play into it either, the worst thing to ever happen was to allow fans a % of the vote for PB players, look at how screwed up that has become.go pak go wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 13:20Rodgers is going to win it because he is the better store.
More fans like him. He is the aging vet who has won the hearts of everyone with Pat McAffee Tuesdays and the Packers have more fans.
The NFL MVP Award is a promotional award. It is better for the shield of Rodgers wins it.
He will win it if he keeps putting together games like yesterday.
Yeah I mean it’s not like the league wouldn’t welcome further promotion and crowning of mahommes. The guy checks lots of boxes. As well is just a great kid, future of the league, and great player.Yoop wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 13:49seriously, do you think the 50 sports writers that do the chosing give a hoot about that? Yep, go gpg, but nope. Your logic is wrong anyway. Mahomes is the bigger sell now. He has the #1 selling jersey in the NFL. Rodgers is #9 this year. Mahomes was #1 in total sales in 2019, Rodgers 7th. While yes, Rodgers is very popular. With that comes the hatred by the other half of fans.Yoop wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 13:49seriously, do you think the 50 sports writers that do the chosing give a hoot about that? your not giving credit to these sports writers, who's job it is to be critical and dis earning, sure the story line matters, but this is a consensus of 50 writers who have nothing to gain one way or another with there choice, when did you ever get the impression a guy like Bob McGinn would be swayed by popular opinion? and the rest of these writers are the same way.go pak go wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 14:06Yes I believe that. If you are given the option of a $100 bill from my right hand or a $100 bill from my left hand...and one of the bills is crinkly and the other $100 bill is crisp and just minted....you are going to likely take the crispy one.
But why? They are both worth $100?!....yes they are. But you have to choose one and you want the nice one because since the value of both is the same, you may as well take the one that makes you feel better.
Rodgers is the better story this year. Rodgers has more fans. Rodgers is older and Rodgers is kicking a$$ just as much as Mahomes is. So why would you take Mahomes when Rodgers is doing the same thing and he is the better and more fun story?
To be fair, Pro-Bowl voting was screwed up long before fan voting was introduced. And as I recall, fan voting was supposed to help “fix” the problem. Yeah, not so much.Yoop wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 13:49seriously, do you think the 50 sports writers that do the chosing give a hoot about that? It is laughable to assume every one of the 50 sports 'personalities,' who vote are all going to be professional, perform due dilligence, and be predjudice free. 10 of those guys are probably cream of the crop and know what they are talking about. 10 of those guys are probably idiots, and the rest are somewhere in between. It is easy to assume that some of them will vote against AR because he is a Packer or he doesn't talk to that reporter. Some will vote for him because this is probably his last shot at MVP and Mahomes will have many more shots at the prize. Who do you think Aikman, or Dungy will vote for?Yoop wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 16:23your not giving credit to these sports writers, who's job it is to be critical and dis earning, sure the story line matters, but this is a consensus of 50 writers who have nothing to gain one way or another with there choice, when did you ever get the impression a guy like Bob McGinn would be swayed by popular opinion? and the rest of these writers are the same way.go pak go wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 14:06Yes I believe that. course I'd be willing to send Ol Bobby a bottle of Hartley's if I thought it would solidify his vote
no but I assume most will be, whats laughable is that you think everyone is as senile as you think they are, as I said these writers have nothing to gain by being biased, and it's not a reputation that lends well to there proffession, and they are far less biased then fans are, and everyone of them KNOW what there talking about,Cdragon wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 20:32It is laughable to assume every one of the 50 sports 'personalities,' who vote are all going to be professional, perform due dilligence, and be predjudice free. 10 of those guys are probably cream of the crop and know what they are talking about. 10 of those guys are probably idiots, and the rest are somewhere in between. Do you mean cynical? They don't have anything to lose by being biased either. Plenty of guys make their living as homers. Plenty of guys make their living with a negative slant. Plenty of these guys print or say the most outrageous stuff cause they know the hate they generate makes them a star. Their job is to get clicks, readers, and or viewers. Do you a Cowherd or a Bayless is going to vote for AR if there is an easy out like Mahomes?Yoop wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020 21:13no but I assume most will be, whats laughable is that you think everyone is as senile as you think they are, as I said these writers have nothing to gain by being biased, and it's not a reputation that lends well to there proffession, and they are far less biased then fans are, and everyone of them KNOW what there talking about,Cdragon wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020 20:32It is laughable to assume every one of the 50 sports 'personalities,' who vote are all going to be professional, perform due dilligence, and be predjudice free. 10 of those guys are probably cream of the crop and know what they are talking about. 10 of those guys are probably idiots, and the rest are somewhere in between. not sure if I've every disagreed with there post season awards, where as with fan participation I rarely ever agree with the PB votes, sure if you want to be cynical, and doubt everything, well go for it.Cdragon wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020 22:09Do you mean cynical? It is not doubting everything, it is looking at it realistically. Not everybody can be an impartial juror. Try serving on a jury sometime. They are not choosing the 50 greatest sports writers of all time to choose the MVP. Aikman, Collingsworth, and Dungy were voters in 2018. Who knows who will choose this year but I guarantee not everyone of those guys will watch every game both QBs played this year one more time before deciding. This a race between 2 deserving QBs. Either would be worthy. But I'll gladly take AR as SuperBowl MVP over MVP any day.Yoop wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020 05:15not sure if I've every disagreed with there post season awards, where as with fan participation I rarely ever agree with the PB votes, sure if you want to be cynical, and doubt everything, well go for it.Cdragon wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020 22:09Do you mean cynical? you keep mentioning guys like Aikman, etc.etc.etc. as though the way they act in front of the camera or the stuff they say to sell themselves to the public corralates to how they will cast there vote, to me one thing has very little to do with the other, sure there are variables involved, personal, and charactorissues concerning the players, but I think your over hyping those, for the most part these voters want to be accurate, and there reputations are on the line.Cdragon wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020 07:19It is not doubting everything, it is looking at it realistically. I thought the exact same thing!
Nobody's reputation is on the line over this. Just like Here's Johnny nobody remembers who voted for what, 2 years ago.Yoop wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020 07:50you keep mentioning guys like Aikman, etc.etc.etc. as though the way they act in front of the camera or the stuff they say to sell themselves to the public corralates to how they will cast there vote, to me one thing has very little to do with the other, sure there are variables involved, personal, and charactorissues concerning the players, but I think your over hyping those, for the most part these voters want to be accurate, and there reputations are on the line.Cdragon wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020 07:19It is not doubting everything, it is looking at it realistically. as I said I really don't care who wins this, both are deserving as are several others, you make it sound as though a voter doesn't like a player so it's a automatic snub, I can't agree with that.
Not just the release; the eyes.
