BF004 I also really like this. Can't complain at all if it falls this way.
The Way a Packers Forum Should Be

I would agree with you on that second part, except I don't know how Guty would pull that off unless he overpays for somebody. Or, maybe he combines that pick with a player for a player.
What on earth would we do with two TEs drafted in an active roster lock range of the draft?NCF wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 07:46Really starting to toy around with the idea that there may not be perfect value at 22 and maybe the best thing to do would be trade that down for additional value. They could turn that into 2 additional premium picks or even 2023 value. Also, as I have played around with these simulators, I really think we could add one or even two really talented TE's in that Late 3rd - Early 4th range. There are about 5 guys that I really like and I just don't think, maybe other than McBride, teams are going to overdraft them.
Roster them...? Lewis and Tonyan both could be in their final seasons with the team and I still don't even think Deguara is a TE. Neither is Dafney. That cupboard is bare beyond this season. I just like a lot of the prospects and I consistently see them available in the range where these guys typically are not available.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 09:18What on earth would we do with two TEs drafted in an active roster lock range of the draft?
And by the draft, if the team wants to get rid of that player for anything, they'll be desperate to do so. Goes both ways. Teams won't ask more from the Packers just because we need a WR. If they do, then they don't really care to trade the player.Scott4Pack wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 09:03I would agree with you on that second part, except I don't know how Guty would pull that off unless he overpays for somebody. The entire league that has a WR that might fit GB is sitting by their phones waiting for Guty to call and offer too much. I'd be shocked if they didn't increase the pain because it's so obvious that we need a WR (or two, or three).
No one but Tonyan and probably Lewis have a firm grip on this roster this season. Gutey very well could decide to cut Deguara and Dafney if he thinks he has upgrades.NCF wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 09:54Roster them...? Yes, beyond this season. But you're saying that we keep 2 rookies, Lewis, Tonyan, Deguara, and Dafney all on the roster for 2022? I can see moving on from developing Tyler Davis in favor of a more promising rookie, of course. But Lewis, Tonyan, and Deguara are roster locks. We have room for one new TE at most. And you're right that this is a good draft class to add a guy in the middle rounds that can develop this year and then take a bigger role next year. But I can't figure out how adding two TEs works this year (I had this conversation somewhere else--maybe earlier in this thread--also. It just isn't a reasonable double-dip position for our roster composition. It'd be like taking a roster-lock RB to be our 4th stringer.NCF wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 09:54Roster them...? Also not opposed to that.
There are some caveats. I think you have to choose between Deguara and Dafney because they play the same, small role (even though they play it quite differently). There would need to be Teams contributions from someone. I know Deguara has played some in the past, but maybe if one of the rookies could contribute there you would feel better about it and maybe that ends up replacing a likely ST-only reserse LB or DB. Like I said, I just think there could be really good value there. Once it happens, you would have to figure out the details, but we have rostered 5 TE's in the past. It's uncommon, but not undoable. I pretty much alluded to the fact, in my original post, that taking two might be a stretch, but still one that is at least worth exploring.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 09:59Yes, beyond this season. I really struggle to get over how great Jelani Woods could be with a year of Marcedes mentoring him how to use that big ole body to be more of a physical presence. I was #teamJelani back when he was barely on draft boards, but said right away that his low draft stock didn't make any sense and figured he'd rise.NCF wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 10:07There are some caveats. Who else is on your list? I'm intrigued by Cole Turner, Jeremy Rucker, and Cade Otten; maybe Jake Ferguson. And a sleeper Armani Rodgers.
You didn't ask me, but the little bit I've watched of TE's, these guys are on my board.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 11:08I really struggle to get over how great Jelani Woods could be with a year of Marcedes mentoring him how to use that big ole body to be more of a physical presence. At 59, I'm not ready. If he's there at 92, it's tempting. If he's there at 132, run to the podium.

I like Ruckert a lot. He's probably my favorite and the most well-rounded. He's in a general group that I like at the position with McBride, Dulcich, Ferguson, Wydermyer, and Woods. There are others, too, but I really like this main group. It's a class just full of guys with absolute prototypical size. You usually don't find that in a Draft class.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022 11:08Who else is on your list? I'm intrigued by Cole Turner, Jeremy Rucker, and Cade Otten; maybe Jake Ferguson. He’s probably a little better than Rich Rodgers was, if his blocking is okay. He can actually run (a little) better than Rodgers ever could. Still a serviceable, not great, TE. And that’s okay. There’s a place for him on our roster.
