After half with Campbell and Walker out, we went to a more attacking style across the line and held the running game to 14 rushes and 46 yards. And it isn't like they just gashed us in the passing game either, 5 catches on 14 attempts, 89 yards and 2 INTs.
OK, but just imagine if we'd used that attacking style with Campbell and Walker in the game
Obviously we should be, going forward.
I have little trust in Berry to do that, Campbell and Walker have 64 and 57 tackles respectively because Berry wants to feature his lbers, our leading DL is Reed with 29, Gary with 29, not terrible, Clark I think has 27, point is to often there block eaters and the lbers are expected to clean up, problem is to often the blocks aren't eaten and our ILB's get washed and we see these big yardage runs, I'am done with Berry as our DC, and it sounds like our players are too.

Exactly. It always seems to me like our ILBs are reading and reacting too much. Maybe I'm wrong but it sure seemed like Campbell was attacking the LOS a lot more last year than this year. I don't know X & O's like some of you guys so I just rely on the old eye test and I very seldom see our ILBs in the backfield this year.
I honestly don’t remember Campbell making many backfield plays last year. The thing I remember us being so impressed with about him is we finally had a ILB that could run with TEs and RBs. I felt his tackling was on par with Blake Martinez, just waaaay more impressive and better in coverage

Ok first of all, it's moral victory, not morale victory

Second, yes it is perfectly reasonable to find things which could signal better performance down the road and be optimistic about those things. It is entirely possible that we go back to sucking and end up 5-12 or whatever, but it is also possible (because it happens all the time in the NFL) that something clicked, finally, and the new strategy or mindset or advantage or whatever it was that we saw will propel us to some wins (combined with being able to play the Lions) and more buy-in and belief from the players, and it all snowballs. There are plenty of teams who had midseason slumps who went on to win the Super Bowl that same year. And what's cool about last night was that if that is how we are going to look, and Rodgers is going to buy into it, then that is exactly the type of style that we need to overcome Playoff Aaron.
I just can’t see how it’s a moral victory when we were already blown out early in the game. The Bills weren’t playing for real up 3 possessions.
If the Bills weren't playing for real and easing up why was Allen still throwing deep when they were having great success running it earlier in the game?

Incentives and having no fear of losing. If they took us seriously they would have been running clock.

Most teams dominating their opponent with a big lead runs to eat up clock and finish the game.

I think you do that against a team you feel has a chance to come back and win.

They thought they could run the score up on us because we are trash. That’s the truth of it.

I expect your right, we where down to stems and seeds at ILB, the way they ran against Berry's lber dependent run schemes that would have seemed the easiest way to run out the clock, But the Bills had Allen throwing into the strength of our defense, it backfired and allowed us back into the game.

So a good play for one of our ILBs is stopping them for a 4-yd gain? Not sure if that is the same play but Walker was celebrating a big hit even though the Bills RB got the first down. I guess I'm too old fashioned because I thought good plays are stopping the opponent from getting 1st downs.

Walker is a rookie so maybe we can give him a little slack. Let's hope he matures and doesn't do a stupid thing like he did the other nite in Buffalo.

I think I remember 23 happy with the Jake Ryan Blake Martinez combo. When u have hof qbs the gm can pretty much get away with anything and still be very competitive. Gute and Murph can not be allowed to rebuild this team. The stadium upgrades are nice though.

Good patience, not necessarily a good play. As the caption of the video states, the C Gap widen considerably when the DT was double teamed and instead of just flying up to the B gap, he had patience and turned what could have been a huge gain into a 5 yarder. Sometimes the DL dictates the success or failure of a play and for this one, Walker did ok for what he had to work with.

Lewis is a luxury for a team that doesn't have major needs: his blocking is awesome and can give you a boost in the running game or helping out an OT, but you do so at the expense of guys who can play ST, have upside, can be part of the team for longer, or be any kind of threat in the receiving game.

If your roster has plenty of those things, he's well worth a spot. I love the guy, certainly don't think his roster spot is charity on our part, but we are clearly no longer good enough to roster an old, slow/blocking-only TE.
