Lewis is a luxury for a team that doesn't have major needs: his blocking is awesome and can give you a boost in the running game or helping out an OT, but you do so at the expense of guys who can play ST, have upside, can be part of the team for longer, or be any kind of threat in the receiving game.
If your roster has plenty of those things, he's well worth a spot. I love the guy, certainly don't think his roster spot is charity on our part, but we are clearly no longer good enough to roster an old, slow/blocking-only TE.
Agreed, 100%. Roster looks a little different today than it did in August though.
I've been a Dean fan, maybe not worth his contract, but mostly considerably better than the alternative no names we've had. But he is a big 'ol weak spot this year.
Davante Wyatt, time to step up and take some reps, man. You are very old for a rookie, only like 18 months younger than Kenny, need you out there.

Ya, asking him to do something he is not built for, unfortunately. That Savage rep is so bad in that clip.

yep Dequara is finally doing what we drafted him for, 3rd year is often break out year for TE's and he looked good Sunday.
Funny how for years now people have said Lewis is over the hill, yet every year he grades as one of the best blocking TE's in the league, and usually gets some yac after a catch, in 22 personal he is exactly the type TE ya need, we want to run the ball, which made Lewis contract worth while.
with the better blocking ability of Dequara I doubt we'll resign Lewis, he'll be missed though, great locker room guy, the younger players look up to these lunch pail vets.
DL didn't adjust to this AT ALL and the ILB to the 4 man is WAY too inside. While the numbers are correct it needs to be 2i, 3, 7 instead of 4i, 1, 5... Then the ILB needs to be over the tackle, not the guard. Better yet would be to go 1 high and bring in an ILB for Savage. Right now the offense can EASILY block the 4 man surface and make it RB on the safety. Not good.
