I said it before week 1 and it's even more likely now: I think everyone is overestimating the odds that Rodgers will not be a Packer next year. I think it is more likely than not that he is still our QB for next season.

I also said it when we picked Love, and still believe it: had we not picked Love, he wouldn't have gotten the chip on his shoulder and he might have stayed mediocre. Going into the 2020 draft I hoped we would pick a QB early who would ultimately never see the field, because you have to understand Rodgers' psychology and what motivates him.
Personally I don't want Rodgers to be a Packer next year. I just don't think it makes sense for either party. It's a lose-lose for both.
Idk, I think we hold onto him as long as we can unless he reverts back to 2018 Rodgers, which he hasn't been.

I do think that if there was a time to trade him, it would have been to the Broncos before the 2021 draft for that rumored trade package of like 3 1sts, some 2nds, Drew Lock, and I forget who else.

But yeah, I think I have made the argument in the past that we actually would prefer trading him, depending on specifics. But if we're winning like we have been under MLF I would rather not rock the boat.

We are winning because of the pieces around Rodgers. Especially here in 2021.

Those pieces are gone in 2022. Both Smiths and Adams for sure are gone. Cobb likely has to have something done. You also have to start looking at contracts for Elgton Jenkins, Jaire Alexander, Tonyan, MVS.

It's a losing formula. It just doesn't make sense to allocate so much cap to a high level-veteran QB when the pieces around him are gone.

2022 is the perfect time to take inventory of what we have, what we want to be and transition to the new era.

Rodgers gives us the best chance to win no matter what we do with anyone else, Rodgers forced Guty to drop the last year of the deal to make sure he is either extended or traded, his goal is to finish his last years in one place, he didn't want to be stuck in limbo.

When your team is 5-1, just beat their biggest division rival, and the post-game discussion regresses to offseason chatter about who will be the QB next year...

It makes perfect sense for the Packers. They get to keep a known commodity at QB who is one of the best in the league.

For Rodgers it makes no sense to stay. The team clearly had intentions to move on. Hard to trust they wouldn’t do it again given the chance. No loyalty. Then he probably looks at Manning and Brady in recent history who went to teams that had stacked offenses and watching them win chips with relative ease is probably enticing.

Rodgers was perfect on passes thrown under 20 yards in the air (16 for 16) and didn’t have a turnover-worthy play. He completed almost 74 percent of his passes and averaged 8.5 yards per attempt.

Keeping an elite qb for another year always makes sense for an org. Full stop.

Yeah idk about that. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. All of the GB offensive players who have left here have been garbage wherever they've gone. Now that's not necessarily indicative of anything, because maybe the reason we let them walk is because we could see they were no good anymore, but I don't think Love is ready after watching him in preseason. Rodgers in year 3 was obvious, in preseason and when he came in against Dallas. Love hasn't flashed like that yet.

To your point though, Rodgers was sort of bad in 2019 and yet we got just as far as we did during his latest MVP season. I guess I do tend to think MLF will have us covered either way. But if Rodgers wants to come back (which I think he will), I would try to make it work.

I can't wait to go through 2022 listening to all the b*tching about how the Packers can't give Rodgers a #1 or #2 WR.

ya thats why it may be best for him to leave, for him. That does not mean its best for the org to lose a 3 time MVP that is under contract and still playing at a very high level.

Also, we already havent given him a #2.

Maybe they could have drafted him a WR instead of a backup QB, RB, TE, QB, or cut ILB 2 years ago.

No need for rear view mirrors now that the season is on full swing and the rest of the North appears to have weakened.

I'm laser focused on the Cardinals game right now. Should be an interesting test. Still fondly recall the game when the Cardinals gave the Packers a home playoff game with that shocker win over the Vikings. Josh McCown to Nate Poole. Then again that shootout playoff game loss (51 to 45) is one I'd rather forget.

I hope the guys are not following your lead and are laser focused on the WFT. We are big favorites right now but these are the kind of games/teams that can bite you in the keister if you are looking past them.

The Redskins should not be slept on. They’re honestly a QB away from having an elite team. They have just as many stars on their roster as we do currently IMO minus a QB.
