Many including myself was vocal that Gary was high on potential and low on results/productivity, and etc etc
But there is someone else on the roster who is turning into more of a bust than Gary…who was picked in a similar spot…and plays a similar position….LVN is a bum!!!
Gary, Clark, LVN, Enagbare, Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden...all of them are arguably having a worse year this year than in recent past. Some have inarguably taken a step backwards.
With the entire DL struggling this year, I'm turning my eyes toward the coaching staff. Something isn't right. Be it scheme, alignments, technique, whatever...something isn't right.
Really wasn't much investment in that group in April, but will be interesting to see how we draft this coming offseason. My guess is that Hafley is doing his best with what he has, but likely some poor fits for his scheme. Wouldn't rule out a big free agent investment, either.
The biggest disconnect is giving Kenny a contract extension only for him to completely disappear in this new scheme.

I also think there is a coach issue there, not a scheme one. We have a diversity of different types of athletes on the DL so there should at least be *someone* Hafley can make use of and be playing well right now. Literally nobody is, apart from a short stretch of nice play by Wyatt.
Hafley is more of a DBs guy though, it seems. I think the rookie DL coach might just not be getting the job done, sadly.

We need Jaire in there, period. He seems pretty soft since he got his extension, unfortunately. That really sucks.
The pass rush is the frustrating part and I think it mostly has to do with how we transition from run defense to pass rush. It would be interesting to see what our pass rush looks like on pure passing downs. That said, it doesn't seem like we have a plan when we pass rush, like at all, across the board. THAT said, it feels like the early season penetrating style has gone away. Maybe, maybe... we aren't seeing the full defense yet and that is playing havoc with what we see on the field.
Bears and new OC, I see why this game may have been an adoration.

That is a very Eddie Lacy story.
And agreed. It wasn't the lack of film that did him in. It was the buffet line unfortunately. He just didn't want it like other guys but my goodness 2013 and 2014 were fun to watch.
