I saw a team that couldn't pass protect and had almost no pass defense. The only reason the game was decided on the last play is because the defense couldn't stop the Lions from doing whatever they wanted the last drive which started with about 3:30 left. The Bears played better against the Lions a week ago.

That last TD called back on penalty sure would’ve been nice. Was a penalty letter of the law but was certainly ticky tack.
Love is playing much better than early in the season. For some reason he is one of thecworst in the league against the blitz this year, but was the best during his streak last year.

Then Laporta is blocking before the ball is caught on the screen on the last drive. Call it, fine, but call it evenly.
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
Not to be that guy but it really did make a difference tonight.
Now let’s get to the goods…
Yeah, just terrible...wallyuwl wrote: Love is playing much better than early in the season. For some reason he is one of thecworst in the league against the blitz this year, but was the best during his streak last year.

Yeah, refs totally cheated us. Horrible officiating. If we get refs that are remotely fair at all, we win easily.

I for one, can hardly wait for a rematch in the playoffs. I like our odds.

I was disappointed in the oline again. Two straight games where Jacobs gets hit at or behind the LOS most of the game and this one against 3rd string players. Seemed to me Aaron Glen had his guys recognizing the run very well.
Despite this we still score 30+ points. Problem was we weren't keeping their offense off the field. If we get better run blocking then we can run the table in the playoffs.

Same. This team is rounding into form quite nicely.GJPackerBacker wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024 04:04I for one, can hardly wait for a rematch in the playoffs. I like our odds.![]()
I felt like MLF didn't have a good initial response for Detroit's pressure defense in the first half but adjusted nicely and then got rolling. The drive where Watson fumbled, you could see they were emerging from that funk. Had he held onto the ball, I am confident that's a scoring drive and it's a whole different outcome.
Tucker Kraft, immediately after ole'ing Kirby Joseph, literally bounces back up after the hard tackle by Arnold. Love this dude.
Sums it up for me.
I don't think having his head in his ass is why he is injured. I didn't see the game but did he play at all?
It is frustrating when a player is injured, especially when he has a high salary, but I doubt he is happy about this either.
detroit did whatever it wanted, and the refs made their job easier, still our defenses can't cover interior routes, been this way all season, even with Alexander a good passing team just cuts us up, our players sit up in their zones like statues, our great blocking ol ran up against another stout front 7 and struggled again, several times with added help from the 12th man, Detroit players do a ton of helmet slapping, hands to the face, grabbing face mask, only called once I think, and Z was wacking Walker on every rush.
still we hung with this team right till the end.
Losers
Defense
The Packers and Lions combined for 38 points in Week 9.
There were 41 points scored in the second half alone Thursday.
Both defenses provided little resistance, especially in the second half.
The Lions had a better excuse for their defensive shortcomings because they have 13 defensive players on injured reserve.
Yellow laundry
Thursday games are often sloppy with both teams playing on a short week. This game only had one turnover, but there were 14 total penalties.
