I would go 4 years 200m, 180 guaranteed.

I wouldnt want to be locked in for 5+ years. Hes too young to know what 3 years will look like.
I'm sort of amazed that you would write the two statements above in the same post. You would support 90% guaranteed while you still feel uncertain about the product in three years? Hmmmm.

It's weird to think about the "what if" of Savage dropping that INT. Had he caught it and returned it for a TD, we win that game, maybe advance further. And then what happens to Savage this offseason? If he had pick-6s in two straight playoff games, do we keep him around? Or does the front office have the emotional discipline to have made a season-long evaluation as they did?
Also. Would if Savage made the play in 2020 vs the Bucs? The dude could be close to a playoff legend with 2 rings and a giant a$$ contract.

The NFL is a brutal game.
Who was that LB we used to have...

Nate Wayne!!!!

Nate was ordinary by many accounts. But when the Pack played primetime games (MNF, etc.), he would show up. I forget how many INTs and big plays he had in those games. Maybe Savage could've been that too. ;-)

The worst part about Savage not working out is that he probably had one of the best names of any Packer ever.
Nitschke, Skoronski, Favre, Lombardi are great Packer names.

White, Rodgers, Collins, Starr, Gregg, Wood, Woodson, not so much.

Bahktiari sounds like more of a Dolphins name. But we can adopt it. (Dave, if you're out there, I love you man!)

Yes. The 90% guarantee is what keeps the number at 50m per and not higher.

The 4 years allows us to escape disaster sooner than say a 5+ year deal

And it’s makes love a very very rich man

He’s earned the chance to squeeze us for coin. I feel a 4 year deal is a win win

Interesting comments from Bisaccia yesterday. He made it sound like all three kickers are legitimately in the competition and that there are other possibilities in other leagues (Jake Bates) that could potentially be added, as well. A lot of hype around Jake Bates, but I would certainly like to see what he has against these other guys. I think there will be a lot of competition to add him, but our spot seems to be one of the shakiest in the league.

Makes sense. We dont have a legitimate kicker. Its no different than QB. If you have 3 kickers you have none.

It will be critical for Gutenbumst to find a kicker or we will be another NFC Championship team and not a SB team.

Fix the long snapper problem first. It should be a lot easier to find a LS than a kicker. The punter did a hell of a good job in getting most of those bad snaps down, but it still throws off the timing and the kicker's concentration.

I hear what you guys are saying. But I don't put a lot of stock into what teams are saying about the specialists this time of year. I know a family member who tried out with a NFL team as a punter years ago. He was at TC a few days when that team signed their guy to a large deal (for a punter). The GM and HC approached my family member and were honest with him. Yeah, they signed the guy they were gonna keep. And yeah, they truly appreciated the willingness to compete for the job. But they were gonna keep their guy and they'd appreciate if my fam member would stick around til the cuts for the sake of competition.

Take it FWIW.

I know that Colin Cowherd is nobody's favorite commentator, but I agreed with what he said this past week about a potential Jordan Love contract. I can't find the clip, but essentially he was saying that it is too soon to offer a max deal and that he'd be more comfortable letting Love continue to prove his performance for 6 more games. I tend to agree.

I don't mind him. I sort of agree with that thinking also, but I also alluded to the fact that unless he regresses, 50+ million/year will end up being a bargain considering QB inflation as we know it.

The NFL has kind of followed the way the American economy has, which makes sense considering it’s an American sport.

Pretty much there is an upper class and a lower class and it’s killed the middle class IMO. Love is going to be an upper class QB. If Kirk Cousins is getting what he’s getting at his age coming off injury Love is going to shatter that. First year starter and was 2nd in TDs and was absolute &%$@ in the first half.

Pay the man. Not paying the literal leader of your team sends an awful message to the players that if you prove yourself, you gotta do it just a little longer to get your pay day.

The issue isn't paying your upper class players big dollars.

The issue is paying your mids upper class dollars. Guys like Tua and Prescott should not get $50 million plus deals but they likely will. That is where NFL teams need to be bold. And the more young or cheap quarterbacks that win...the higher the chance the mid quarterback market comes back to earth.

can we call it a supply and demand situation? to me those two things determine pay scale in all walks of life.

imho there has always been a shortage of quality workers, or maybe I should say people that can do what most can't, and people will always bid and bump bids for there services, often having to pay more then the job should require.

easy to see that with sports contracts

Don't know if this has been talked about. But when, if ever, will you start to worry about Love not having a new deal.

For the record, I'm not in the least bit concerned yet.

It should get hammered out before TC. There is no reason not to get it done by then.

I agree it will probably get done, but there is a scenario or 2 why it could take longer. This could be its own topic in all seriousness. I find it quite fascinating.
