I think the truth is between "we got our asses whooped" and "it was a close, 2 point game".

In the 1st half, we were going toe to toe with the Vikings, and that stupid decision to go for it on 4th down and then the awful offsides that wasn't offsides, literally resulted in a 7 point swing. Should have been 10-6 at the half and then we go into the 2nd half with some momentum after they missed a field goal at the end of the half. Maybe the Vikings still come out in the 2nd half and steamroll us like they did in the 3rd quarter, but I've watched enough football to know momentum swings when I see one. That end of the first half sequence with the miss and then phantom penalty completely changed the landscape of that game.

Do I feel good about us going back to Minn in the playoffs and winning? No. But I also think we're capable of going in and upsetting them if we play better and the ball bounces our way here and there.

sorry to those who think comeback scoring late in games against an opposing defense schemed to stop big chunk plays resembles a closely battled game, or a 2 point lose, your glossing over the reality of the game, we got our nose rammed in the dirt for over 45 minutes.

we do not have the bench strength of either Minny, Detroit, or Philly, again any QB who has some time will pick apart our secondary, that's happened even against average QB's,, and against quality OL's even a 5 man rush doesn't help the secondary, doesn't especially hurry the QB.

my point is we rely to much on big chunk pass plays and the run, IMHO that's not balance, and unless we have success rushing the passer our secondary is hung out to dry.

I don't have the answers, just know those situations limit our success.

we are a young team, those other 3 have a season or two of seasoning on us, and that's what stands out to me.

BTW, we were leading 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. If it wasn't for a phantom offsides on a FG it would have been down 1 score at half. We got our asses kicked in the 3rd quarter.

When they showed the stat where it was like 418 yards gained by Minnesota and we had 190, up by 17 with missed field goals. Certainly felt like an ass whooping to me.

Biggest problem there is the guys you listed aren’t stars outside of Jacobs.

how long are we going to use this same old excuse, our stars didn't star, the studs need a support person to unlock their capabilities, just like the studs enhance the play of average starters, that's basically how this athletic stuff works, and when we've been our best that's whats happening,

are you going to tell me Bullard is as good as there 3rd safety? or Valentine their #2 or even #3 corner? if I looked at the viking Roster I could keep this going at other positions, and it's the same with Detroit and Philly, this season has shown me that our bench is not quite as good as I thought, and our starters have not looked as good as they did towards the end of last year.

that fumble by Jacobs, that drop by Reed didn't cost us this game, good teams over come that stuff, but when ya add that into all the mediocre play from the rest of the team it's a good chance you will lose.

I new this would be a tough game, and would require our best effort, it just wasn't to be, can we beat them, of course, but we don't have room for error, and error is our middle name, I'am not at all happy to say this stuff, it's just my opinion.

Exactly. Talk about performance of our "stars" all we want. Reality is we're not winning &%$@ until we clean up the horse hockey out there. But then again how long have we been talking about this with LaFleur's teams. YEARS?

Frankly I don't know if he ever will - or if it does it will be a long time from now (similar to Bill Cowher and Andy Reid after going through 10+ years of failure until finally getting it in bunches).

Chances of winning it all are slim and it seems like the only two people who have really cracked the code the last 25 years is Tom Brady and Pat Mahhomes. Everyone else just fights for tiny scraps.

Rodgers was easily as good as both Brady and Mahomes, what they had that Rodgers always seemed a bit shy of was supporting cast, either we couldn't run the ball, the defenses were never up to snuff, or ST buried our efforts with mind bending mistakes.

in this era of UFA the draft alone will never be able to fix positions fast enough to overcome losses at another, so consequently you will always have weak positions, and your not allowed weaker positions on defense anymore, the offenses now are just to good, IMHO these are the main reason we didn't win it all in 2011, 014, or 2020, 2021, D&D should be the core building process, but today's game requires more.

Lafleur didn't trade Douglas last year though, and Douglas would be our #2 CB this season, not saying he'd have defended Noeler that receiver for the bikes better than Valentine or Nixon, but I would have liked his chances.

late last season we didn't look like a rebuilding team, however we are, we are the youngest team in the league which also says we are, we also drafted like a rebuilding team on defense this last draft, a year ago it was 5 receivers, Rome wasn't built in a day.

we all thought after finishing so strong a year ago that we would be a power house team this year, however we keep beating ourselves because we make to many mistakes, and often there costly and usually from a newbie, now we could end up winning it all, but IMO we'll be a better team next season.

What I don't like about MLF is his insistence on having your "best players" on the field after we get an injury. He blew the playoffs 2 years in a row when he moved Turner to LT after Bak got hurt and Nijman had played decent for a number of games.

He did the same thing in this game moving Bullard to safety when he struggled there earlier this year replacing Williams. No clue if Oladapo would have played better but I assume he had more reps at safety than Bullard.

Never liked making 2 players switch.

Policy should give Gutey and LaFleur 2 more years to get to the promised land, and that's it. I'd take Ben Johnson today if Murphy would allow it.

Biggest problem there is the guys you listed aren’t stars outside of Jacobs.

The Packers 5 biggest cap hits in 2024 are Kenny Clark, Jaire Alexander, Jordan Love, Elgton Jenkins, and Rashan Gary. They are paid like "stars".

Love has been OK and you have to pay the going rate on QBs. Guards are not stars and never will be, however Jenkins is at least a quality player.

But Clark is a JAG this season, Jaire doesn't play/has not been a star for 4 years, and Rashan Gary's breakout season is always just a year away. I have zero faith that these three "stars" will rise to the occasion, at least while they play for the Packers.

I think Jenkins has been fine. You are correct on Love, it’s the going rate and I’d rather have a qb than be trying to find one. He’s definitely good enough and I think he can get better yet

Clark has had a couple games, but he’s being paid to do it every game. Not sure what the deal is.

All the premier pass rushers get extra attention and still make plays. Gary is doing ok, but his splash plays are almost zero it seems. Can’t pay that money for that production.

The biggest trick for a GM is draft well and figure out who the top 5 cap hits should be. You get that recipe right...you are going to have a fantastic football team. Everything else is gravy.
