There's no way LeVar Burton doesn't get the job, right? I mean he's the freakin' Reading Rainbow guy and was on Star Trek TNG. Even Rodgers can't compete with that!

It seems Jeopardy isn’t the only off-season hobby AR has going. He’s also been saving businesses and communities back home. Just another ho-hum week for the reigning MVP...

There is a term from the Lombardi era called "ARRIVING".Drj820 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021 15:19I agree with ya. I think he tenses up when the moment gets big and tight. It shows in his body language and players feed off of that energy. It sometimes seems like he may be going to quick or forcing things.Acrobat wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021 14:53That's why I said that there were other factors that played a role in the losses. But I still firmly believe that Rodgers has not played his personal best in the last 4 NFCCGs.Yoop wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021 13:35
you can't pin any of those losses on Rodgers, this isn't Brett Favre where talking about, who did actually snatch defeat from victory in more then a couple playoff games, Rodgers can't run the routes for the receiver or catch the ball, AR has been the least of our problems in playoff games, most of it is either lack of talent or lack of coaching.
I still think this team is abysmal without him and he played better than some give him credit for in last several years of McCarthy.
Lombardi teams "arrived" 9 times between 1961 and 1968. Please see below evidence:
Dec. 31, 1961 1961 NFL Championship New York Giants W 37-0 39,029
Dec. 30, 1962 1962 NFL Championship at New York Giants W 16-7 64,892

Jan. 14, 1968 Super Bowl II (AFL-NFL World Champ.) Oakland Raiders (@ Miami) W 33-14 75,546

Jan. 4, 1997 1996 NFC Divisional Playoff San Francisco 49ers W 35-14 60,787
Jan. 12, 1997 1996 NFC Championship Carolina Panthers W 30-13 60,216
Jan. 26, 1997 Super Bowl XXXI New England Patriots (@ New Orleans) W 35-21 72,031
A McCarthy team "arrived" 4 times in the 2010 season:
Jan. 9, 2011 2010 NFC Wild Card Playoff at Philadelphia Eagles W 21-16 69,144
Jan. 15, 2011 2010 NFC Divisional Playoff at Atlanta Falcons W 48-21 69,210

Feb. 6, 2011 Super Bowl XLV Pittsburgh Steelers (@ North Texas) W 31-25 91,060
Interesting little tidbit. So many teams made the wrong decision. Its not that no-one above him had good careers. But he's outlasted them all and is the only guaranteed HOF'er. For those scoring at home...

I'll never understand why (yet always enjoy the fact that) the Vikings needed a QB, had *two* 1sts, yet chose not to use one of them to roll the dice on a QB prospect that many had believed was the best in the draft. Instead they got a bust WR (like MVS with even worse hands) and JAD edge-rusher.

They didn't "need" one. Culpepper just came off his best season which was MVP runner-up good. He was a monster in 2004.Labrev wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021 11:45I'll never understand why (yet always enjoy the fact that) the Vikings needed a QB, had *two* 1sts, yet chose not to use one of them to roll the dice on a QB prospect that many had believed was the best in the draft. you are a few years off. Dustin Keller was 2008. Jets traded pick 26 to the Raiders before the draft, then that pick was used to trade up to 23 (Seahawks) and the Raiders took Fabian Washington.
But in 2008 we traded our 1st to the Jets and they took Keller. We ended up with Jordy and Dwight Lowery (whom I have no recollection of).
RIP JustJeff
Wait, Lowery wasn't ours. We used that pick in a trade and ended up with Jeremy Thompson, who I do recall.
RIP JustJeff
The Redskins traded into Pick 25 immediately after we took Rodgers so that they could take Jason Campbell.

What's crazy is that they made that trade before the draft, likely expecting it to be Campbell. Had we not taken Rodgers, I wonder which QB they would have picked. It sounds absurd, but I was at the combine that year and numerous scouts referred to Campbell as "possibly the best QB in the draft" but it would have been tough to convince a front office to put their money where their mouths were on something like that.
Dang, I have no memory of Culpepper being any good post-2000 season hype. Well he picked a great time to show up...NCF wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021 12:18They didn't "need" one. Yeah people I think confuse what all happened leading into the 2004 draft.
I hear others say it was no a brainer to pick Rodgers because Favre came off a 26 interception season which was also inaccurate.
Favre, Manning and Culpepper were the best 3 QBs in 2004. And all three offenses were the tops of the league. I believe he Vikes took WR early because I think that is when they traded away Moss to Oakland.

Man, I hated Culpepper back then. That "rolling" celebration he did was so annoyingNCF wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021 12:18They didn't "need" one. Frickin' Aaron Frickin' Rodgers is a mess. Very talented QB too! Hard to make these scenarios up. Hollywood and Green Bay are so different.
Need to bring this back with the way he's playing. Even Bears fans recognize.

The thing about how good Aaron Rodgers is....
...is that, look, even though it's unfair, I genuinely don't think there is an excuse for an incompletion or sack unless it's a drop. I hold him to impossible standards because he's impossibly good. He can put the ball anywhere he wants on the field almost anytime he wants. When he makes a bad throw (which does, indeed, happen), I'm floored.
But for me, it winds up with me so upset when he makes a bad decision (especially those un-aimed 3rd down lobs). With great power comes great responsibility. I've always felt like the way to motivate Rodgers to be his greatest self would be a coach telling him repeatedly that a man of his talent and Football IQ should never throw an incompletion and try to hold him to that level of perfection.

I was going that direction with him, but have eased back the last few years. You have to expect more mistakes as he gets older. But I still do hold him to an unfair standard.
It would be interesting to see what he would do with that type of coach. Would he rebel? Embrace it? Year 1 could be rough, but I think he'd see the benefit of it after a while.

he's human, but not allowed to be on this forum, every loss is Rodgers fault, take away Adams and this forum would finally realize we should have drafted a more ready to play WR instead of mid round jags 3 years ago.
