Of all people, Colin Cowherd spoke what I’ve thought about Aaron Rodgers. It was something like this:
Rodgers is a great talent. But he is not a great leader. And when he looked at Rodgers prior to the Lions game, it seemed obvious that he was not checked in. In fact, it seems like Rodgers has not been checked in all season. That is different than saying that he can still make great plays. He surely can. But when he isn’t totally committed, it affects him. AND it affects all of the team. His energy, or lack thereof, is what should feed the Green Bay Packers. And that just isn’t there.
I agree with Cowherd’s analysis. And I’ve felt that way since maybe week 3 of this year. (Truth is that I’ve suspected the same in the last couple of years too. Face it. It’s hard for an old QB/player to get the same kind of motivation as in previous years. He can say that he is “all in” but that isn’t always the case. I’m not trying to fault him. Just saying that’s another obstacle to overcome.
This is what I see as the first problem with Green Bay, among others. Rodgers can still play well enough on the field. But his energy isn’t motivating anybody. The young guys look up to the 38 year old QB. They should. And he is doing nothing to inspire them.
As we continue to PAY him, that is something that should be expected. Either that, or else ship him to a team where that doesn’t matter. Meanwhile, don’t tell me that you want the Packers all in to win. You can have your opinion. But I won’t believe it.

I guess we just see a different Rodgers, to start the year we saw Rodgers under pressure, yet still moving in the pocket, avoiding the rush and throwing anyone open, 3 things happened, they where in the right place and caught it, 2. they where in the right place and dropped it, 3. they where on the wrong page of the playbook altogether, and that has snow balled for 9 games, who wouldn't be frustrated and depressed, specially a guy like Rodgers.
last week ya saw him scamper for 1st downs, extending plays, didn't look like he didn't care to me.
That Kurt Warner play break down vid shows the issues Rodgers has to contend with, all he can do on most passes is throw it to a spot and hope the receiver breaks in that direction, as Kurt said, this is chaos, so when that is the case, week in, week out, just what would be going through your mind ?
When ya can't pass, then ya can't run, we struggle to establish the run because defenses don't fear our passing, they loud the box, force us to pass and receivers drop balls, run wrong routes, can't beat a jam, etc.
I don't see a quitter, I see a frustrated QB, his OL has been inconsistent as well as his receivers, it's got to the point he sticks with pre snap reads throwing to #1 in the route tree, even when he has another more open and isn't under immediate pressure, it's like he's shell shocked, in a trance, isn't thinking, sorta looks like not caring, but thats still a stretch for me.

Who would have dreamed Rodgers' would be playing this poorly after back to back MVP seasons? Can we without 20/20 hindsight bemoan the decision to give him that extension when we did? Yes Adams is gone but some of AR's passes have been way off the mark. And if his thumb is bothering him as much as we think it is the fact MLF is starting him over Love is rather telling.
Rodgers will continue to be our starter until we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. This won't take too many more weeks and then we all will be able to judge what we have in Love.

Unfortunately I do not believe that Love will start anytime soon. The Packers brass care more about what the fans think than winning games or preparing for the future, and so they will let Rodgers prove to everyone that he hit the age wall last year in December and that he is now an empty shell of what he was.Pugger wrote: ↑13 Nov 2022 05:21Who would have dreamed Rodgers' would be playing this poorly after back to back MVP seasons? Yoop wrote: ↑12 Nov 2022 16:34I agree with all that you wrote here, Yoop. I don’t dismiss those points at all. But I can’t get past three passes that resulted in INTs. Two were at the 1 yard line or so and they were horrible passes by any measure. Those are entirely on Rodgers. The third pass was, according to Warner, a good pass but just a better play by the Safety who broke on the pass and extended very well. I didn’t see that as a good pass. I thought the guy was covered. But I’ll defer to Warner’s wisdom on that.Scott4Pack wrote: ↑08 Nov 2022 13:22Of all people, Colin Cowherd spoke what I’ve thought about Aaron Rodgers. Anyhow, when Rodgers picked up the 1st down on third and 17, I was literally amazed. He has preferred to step back and pass this past couple of years and hardly ever run unless he needs to. If he’s willing to run 3-5 times a game, maybe the Ds will honor our passing game just a bit more.
And on the end of me that refuses to lose hope, maybe if all of our WRs can remain healthy for a full game, something positive could happen that’d change things for the better. I honestly don’t remember the Packers ever having so many injuries at WR. And if Watkins can finally get on the same page, maybe better still. I’m almost ready to want Amari Rogers over Watkins for more snaps.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!
You really think the Packers' brass doesn't care about winning games? That would be phenomenally stupid. Losing games is a quick way to the unemployment line.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑13 Nov 2022 08:43Unfortunately I do not believe that Love will start anytime soon. I Do Not Hate Matt Lafleur
Rodgers hand is really messed up. All of you Love fans might get your wish today.

Looked like the defender actually grabbed right onto his thumb!

Nice play Defense!!
I saw that. You can't convince me that wasn't deliberate either.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑13 Nov 2022 16:15Looked like the defender actually grabbed right onto his thumb!
I don’t buy this,Scott4Pack wrote: ↑07 Nov 2022 15:08There was one reason to pay Aaron Rodgers like Guty did. That is, that everything on Lombardi Avenue goes through Aaron Rodgers, at least on the field. When that deal was made, there was still reason to think that he’d play as well as Tom Brady. Very, very few would say otherwise.
So, now that he isn’t…
It’s fair to say that it isn’t just an injured OLine and WR corps. AR is showing definite decline in cognitive skills. The arm strength is certainly still there. But he isn’t reading defenses like he used to.
It is a very bad pass blocking OL and worse receiving corp in the league

Okay. Fine. But he isn’t seeing plays like he used to. Plays that he used to make with regularity, he is only making a little bit.JKB wrote: ↑13 Nov 2022 17:39I don’t buy this,Scott4Pack wrote: ↑07 Nov 2022 15:08There was one reason to pay Aaron Rodgers like Guty did. who would, Rodgers never knows exactly where the rush will come from, just that on most pass plays he'll have to get rid of the ball before a receiver is open and avoid a rusher, if he's able to succeed it's a 50/50 chance his receiver wont get open, he will run the wrong route, or he'll drop the throw, you act as though QB's are robotsScott4Pack wrote: ↑13 Nov 2022 18:15Okay. you saw today what happens when receivers catch passes and the OL protects, nothing wrong with Rodgers that supporting cast playing better couldn't cure and did.
