McKinney wasn't tagged. I expect we get in on him early. But his price may end up too high.

Id be willing to overpay for a young and ascending player.

Since Guty has some money to spend, would he rather gain one STUD player at a key position or 2-4 mid-range guys who still might have upside (or at least have some proven ability)?
Frankly, if we can have a stud Safety and ILB, then I'd be good with drafting some other guys. If it were that or maybe 3 proven FAs (still keeping the draft in mind), I think I'll take the one or two studs. We're in a good position either way.

Buttkowski had a take that got me thinking about how to build this D and how they have been built.
After hiring Saleh, 49ers went after Solomon Thomas and Ruben Foster high and kept adding talent at LB, Borland, Greenlaw, Warner. They also then still kept adding, Dee Ford, Javon Kinlaw, Bosa and then this huge last signing this offseason in Javon Hargrave.
Saleh with the Jets kept pummeling front 7 with FA and draft. Big extension for Williams, just drafted MacDonald at 15.
Demeco Ryan just gave up QB draft capital to go get Will Anderson. Got Denzel Perryman and Cory Littleton.
That said, looking at the 9ers getting Hargrave seemingly quite unexpectedly, how shocking would it be for the Packers to go after a very similar player, but younger and entering his prime in Christian Wilkins?

This could make sense with the Campanile connection.

With the way team are pretty much blacklisting paying players at entire position groups I’m pretty interested in this next CBA negotiations. I’m expecting positional caps to be on the table and max contracts. Safety and Running backs are getting shafted. QBs and getting 1/5 of the cap on a 53 man roster plus practice squad.
Something’s gotta change there.

Starting to think the needle is moving from a 50-50 proposition that we sign a starting safety to thinking it is more likely than not we sign two new starters in FA. Just a glut of talent and a depressed market.

I've leaned into that thinking too. I think you sign one really good one, sign a mid-tier one, and draft one in the top 3 rounds to develop to take over.

Parents, don't let your kids grow up to be safeties (or rbs, or kickers, or punters).
