"For a guy to come in as a draft pick, as a rookie & to be that comfortable...its pretty impressive"

Aaron Rodgers on Josh Myers
Team talk at its finest. I’m high on Myers. Gotta see how he does when the pads come on and in games.
for a rookie to be that comfortable, or for Rodgers to comment about it that way, translates to Myers confidence that he can play the position at this level, to me thats quite a compliment from Rodgers

It was an open ended question too. Something like ‘who should we keep an eye on this year?’. Not ‘how is Myers doing at center?’.

from Bill Huber

"At 6-foot-5, rookie Green Bay Packers center Josh Myers is a physical presence. He’s also an athletic one, as he demonstrated on back-to-back plays at training camp on Wednesday.

The first play was a screen from Jordan Love to AJ Dillon. With no blocking responsibilities at the line of scrimmage, Myers led the convoy that got Dillon rolling. On the next play, he pulled on a running play to the right by Dexter Williams, his block helping get Williams into the open field.

Myers has earned rave reviews from two of the most important members of the offense.

“He’s a big man,” All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari said last week. “I remember early on when he first walked in, I was like, ‘What’s your deal? You’re either a terrible athlete or a bad football player, because why are you playing center being 6-foot-5?’ And he kind of proved me wrong on both. I think he’s got a good makeup to be a good football player for a long time. I want to see what he can do, how he responds to adversity. I think that’s important. But he’s approaching it the right way. He’s really taken on the playbook. He’s gone out of his way to ask veterans questions, making sure he’s doing everything the right way, not only on the football field but off the football field. I think that’s setting yourself up for success. Though I will not say he’s my favorite center from Ohio State, he’s off to a good start.”

I love how imposing our OL looks on paper. I really hope that means our running game does not sputter out in the NFFCG like it did in our last 3-4 appearances there. Rodgers needs to play better in those games, but he needs an at least decent running game to lean back on when the pass isn't clicking.

Agreed. I’ve always wanted a faster defense and a bigger OLine. Looks like we finally have both.

I remember when the Cowboys had an OLine that seemed to dwarf a number of defenses. They made Emmitt Smith look really good. And they wore down our defense a few times. Maybe getting big guys who are athletic was limited before by the number of athletes who could legitimately be both. But now days, athletes are more so than ever and that includes the heavies.

the transformation has been amazing to watch happen. Both the increased size and the higher draft picks used on IOL in Jenkins/Myers

Im really excited to see Myers come regular season. I liked Myers a lot coming out of the draft. Thought it was a great pick. I did think Creed Humphrey was slightly better so I'm interested to see how his career trajectory goes as well but Myers played really well. I noticed it on the screen play when it happened. Hill does not score without Myers there who got down field quickly and got the man he needed to get. Credit to Hill for his patience waiting for his blockers to get setup but Myers blocked 2 guys there and made that score happen.

We got ourselves a good one.
