How are you powering your under cabinet lights?

I’ve been interested in adding them, but I don’t really want to use an outlet and have wires out or use batteries.

Haven’t found an idea I like yet.

The under-cabinet lights by the stove are just battery puck lights. The ones by the cabinet with the glass front are wired. I ran a wire up the wall to the top of the cabinets, put an outlet up there, and a switch under the cabinets. Of course, that was all done before the cabinets went in. The lights are 12 v LED with a wire running between the cabinets up to the outlet on top.

I was reluctant when the wife first boarded the moving train. She wanted to move to Florida but with the grandson we are staying in Minnesota. I loved this ranch it is where I intended to live till I died. I agreed to move and the process of planning to move and the month plus grind of prepping to sell I hate this place and can not wait to get the hell off this ranch.

In the process of giving the master bath a makeover. Just decided I'm tired of looking at these wire shelves.

Oh, and about that master bath. Getting there...





Waiting on the shower glass and new window. Still gotta grout shower and clean quite a bit but it's coming together nicely.

Beautiful, is that ceramic on the floors?

I like that ceramic faux wood look.

Looks like LVT, to me. That's what we have in most of our bathrooms and I love it. Have real ceramic tile in our master bath and I wish we didn't.

It's ceramic alright. Turned out really nice. Love the look.

Why do you wish you didnt have ceramic tile?

Also, not crazy about the shower niche background. Wife's call. Once it's cleaned up I may change my mind but my choice was to go with the same accent pattern on the wall in the niches. Oh well. Happy wife...you know the rest.

I need advice on putting in shelves in a pantry would you go fixed or adjustable? The pantry is under a stairwell so the back slants down.

The sink is hideous. I got drunk with Tommy one time at Lurt's sports bar in Brooklyn Park. Funny Tommy drove white Bronco at the time.

My bathroom renovation pics from earlier in this thread show the room nearly complete. Turns out my work was just beginning. The contractor who laid the tile completely screwed it up and it all had to come back out. By that point, I demanded my money back - got it after some back-and-forth and legal threats - and redid the entire thing myself.

With the no-contractor cost savings, we decided to add heated floors and ran plumbing to drop the shower head from the ceiling. Also, the full glass enclosure is what we originally had in mind until the previous contractor cost estimate made us change our mind. That's why the earlier pics had the knee wall. With the cost savings in doing it all myself, it's back to full glass.

The closet turned out real nice. Lots more usable space and wife loves it.

Still need to install a barn style rolling door to the toilet room and finish up some other cosmetic work but it's done for the most part. Really happy how it all turned out. And so is the wife!

They wanted $7500 additional for the heated floor. Material costs for me - I used the Schluter Ditra-Heat system - was around $800 covering an approximate 105 sq/ft area.

The install wasn’t hard at all. Keep in mind, I had never done anything like this before so it was all new to me. Schluter website has step-by-step install videos that walk you through the entire process. Their system is pretty easy to work with, as well.

I usually us this tactic. Most times I'm unaware of it. You risk not hearing something important and before you know it she's yelling about something you did 6 months ago. Proceed with caution.
