I mean if you don't vote for Adams after today....you may as well never vote for anyone who has "star" status.

What he did today was absolutely ridiculous.
People didn't vote for Aaron Jones after he scored 4 TDs...
and that made zero sense too, I get the object is to not have the same players win this every week, however when one of our best players has a record setting day then they deserve consideration just like a player that rarely flashes, if where going to discriminate against them then we should make a list of players to exclude from this contest.

They did. And I was the benefactor in that. I voted for Jones. Thought he deserved it. But I can also see a difference between getting 4 TDs where some of them were scheme "gimme's" and what Adams did yesterday.

He was just a monster. You can't fake your way to 200+ yards. Especially when only one of them is a deep bomb. And even that deep bomb still essentially beat double coverage. He was insane.
89 times in the last 40 years has a player scored 4 or more TDs in a game.
137 times in the last 40 years has a player gained 200 or more yards through the air in a game.

Just saying...

FYI, he didn't have a record setting day. He had a personal best day. Call that semantics, if you like. That said, he is my runner up, but in the spirit of the contest, what the offensive line did exceeded my expectations even more.

For me, the OL has been amazing the past three weeks. But this week when we needed a little, we seemed to get stuffed a bit too often. The OL struggled as the game went on. We had enough explosive runs to keep the average elevated, but the stuffs took the OL out of consideration for me. Not to mention that snap that would have been a baaaddd fumble 90% of the time but happened to ricochet into Jones' hands for a "handoff"

A career day by a HoF-level player is just so noteworthy. And he had virtually no downsides.

why? when you get the OL grades you'll realize how inconsistent they where, most of the run success was because the runners got yrds after contact, most of the passing success was because Rodgers avoided the first rushers, Patrick imo graded the highest of the OL.

100%, I can get on board with that. I just think it silly to denigrate others' valid reasons behind their vote.

geez. That's a lot more than I thought. I remember when Julio Jones broke 200 vs us on Monday Night in 2014. I was at that game. I simply thought he was unstoppable.

Didn't know it happened that often.

Maybe I take this contest too literally and apply too high of a level of expectations on our stars. But, in terms of my expectations, which did I expect more, a career day from Davante Adams or A.J. Dillon to catch 4 passes for 50 yards and TD? Honestly, I more expected a career day out of Davante Adams. I voted for A.J. His production on the day will never overly impress, yet what he did stood out the most, to me. Especially all of the production from the passing game. Voting that way in no way diminishes what Davante did. It doesn't mean I think Dillon's modest production overshined Adams. Not at all. I just think the role that Dillon played on the road to victory exceeded my expectations more than what Adams did because we know Adams can do that. Argue if you must, but I will never tell anyone their vote is wrong in this thing.

As far as rarity of achievement, Jones' was undoubtedly great. As far as actual difficulty of achieving it, Jones got to his 4TDs on a lot of short, well-blocked and rather easy TDs. Barely had to break a tackle, and certainly did nothing utterly exceptional to get there. Beneficiary of circumstances, along with him being good.

Adams had to earn all of the 206 yards, and it took a truly masterful WR performance against an opponent that focused on him to get there. As an individual performance, I value that muuuuch more highly, even if he didn't get as rare stats along the way. I expect a lot outta Adams, but he beat those in this game.

:rotf: :rotf:

so in 20,480 games ( 40 years) a player has scored 4 tds a whopping 89 times

and in that same amount of games and time a receiver has surpassed 200 receiving yrds 139 times.

and you didn't think it happened that often? thats not often to me, where you being sarcastic? 23 ruined his case with that info, if ya don't reward a player for becoming a statistic in that small group, then your really out of touch with what it takes to be one of those players, and your taking this stuff for granted.

I don't expect 200 yards a game, far from it, but with feeding Adams the way we do, it doesn't surprise me. For me, that the offensive line played as well as it did surprised me. That was the 1 position that really worried me for this game and I thought might be our downfall. Instead, it was a bright spot. The Bengals stacked the box on a consistent basis and sent extra pass rushers a lot. For the most part, they held up. With a line of Nijman, Runyan, Patrick, Newsome, and Turner I expected disaster. That doesn't diminish what Adams did. I completely understand a vote for Adams, or Dillon, or Campbell. I am not going to say any of those votes are off base.

Jones did not win that week because there was another player who had a very strong game (Stokes) which was much more impressive relative to his expectations than Jones's game was to his. If not for Stokes, Jones would have won.

There is no Stokes equivalent this week, though. The only other person who stood out for their performance this week, relative to expectations or not, is Campbell, but he has been playing pretty well for a few weeks now; it's not like this game was especially above expectation from him, not in the same vein as Stokes allowing absolutely nothing in his first live action was (yesterday's INT is not even the first one Campbell has made for us and definitely the less impressive of the two he has made).

Anyway, yeah, I've made up my mind. I vote Adams.

Lots of worthy choices, and I found myself mentally switching my vote after almost every post.

In the end, an O-Line missing at least 3 preferred starters, including the top 2 O-Linemen, way surpassed my expectations, despite the glitches.

OL for me.

Tae 2nd, De'Vondre 3rd, AJ 4th, Big Dog 5th.
