109 QB Rating in the 1st quarter the last 4 games. Not starting slow.
sorry but that rating doesn't tell an accurate picture, he had about 30 yards passing in first half against Detroit and threw some very difficult passes to catch, just as he has in other games, if ya only throw a few passes because the coach is hell bent on establishing a ground game then your rating will obviously be better
1 game does not a trend make.
it's been a trend all season, Love has played tentative to start nearly every game, off target, and late, this isn't just me making these comments, most sports writers will say the same thing, and if you're honest you'll admit that you see receivers run right threw their first window while Love hasn't even started his progressions, which IMO was the case in the first half against Detroit on several attempts
again this isn't me just dishing our new QB, I want him to succeed as much as anyone, but relying on deep passing so much exposes his poor showing on up-tempo quick hitters, he too often is off target on the short stuff, and we end up with hard to catch passes like that sideline pass to Reed that was low and too difficult for Reed to haul in.
that he seems to recover and play well in the 2nd half is fantastic, love it, but these games will get tougher now and we need him to play that way for 60 minutes

It is just you making these comments. There have been different things to pick on with Love's game and that's fine, but there is not some big consensus that he has been a slow starter. He has had the games playing through injury where he didn't look like himself, full stop and the string of games with interceptions. It's now been 3 weeks since he has thrown one and all the advanced metrics say he is playing near the top of the league.
There still is some inconsistency with this offense, but it goes far beyond Love. I think everyone is waiting for it to take off and it just hasn't yet, but it still feels like it is coming.

Do you say things that are the opposite of the truth on purpose just to get an argument going? The Packers are not a slow starting team.
The Packers are only slow starting in the 3 games you cherry picked where we started slow.

maybe I'am being a little harsh, but IMHO he seems stuck in the process of having to get in a rhythm, and maybe it had something to do with becoming more secure after the injury, and also using so much run to start games, often I feel he wants more then the defense is willing to give him in search of the big play, and overlooks to long to take a chain moving shortie, to me at times Jordan is frustrating to watch.
inconsistency with OL, and receivers, sure some, play calling, at times seems obvious too, yep like everyone I'am still waiting for more consistency, we just seem IMO to start slow, but then I admit to preferring the pass setting up the run, still, I'am a air coryall guy as I'am sure you know

As an example, the first play last week against Detroit, that wasn't Love. It was the play call. It was essentially a one man route designed to go deep. They went for a big play and it wasn't there. There should have been an answer just to get the ball out of his hand instead of taking a sack. 2nd and 10 isn't nearly as big of a deal as where we started after that first play.

That opening play was so dumb. You work all week on your scripted plays to start the game out with and with them down all their lineman and linebackers you want to take a shot down the field... and thats what you think you want to start a game with.
From what we know about Lafleur plays though theres always two plays called with the ability to can the first one. Love takes some responsibility not canning the deep shot and just taking the run.

I had no issue with the shot play. If they don't bring pressure you have a shot.
But you need a check down. A bailout and we didn't have that. Which is a shame because Kraft and Jacobs are some mighty fine check downs to have.

They brought out base 3-4 against 11 personnel. That's 100% a passing situation. It was not a good Love play. There were guys open.

no, and never intentionally, and I said Love is a slow starting QB, not so much the team, Jacobs keeps us on pace to start most games, Love does not, at least according to this CBS article, ya have to read down the page but Loves ratings show he has typically done much better second half.
8th best in QB rating in the 1st quarter the last 4 weeks.

qbr is not the tell all of how a QB has performed, and a rating in the 80's till the last 4 games expose that, he couldn't get anything going in the last game we played till after half time with Detroit, Loves rating is also enhanced because of our ability to run the ball.
my issue is consistency, at times Love looks world beater good, but other times he acts like he's in a comma
He was injured and not playing well before the bye, in all quarters, not just to start the game.

touche, I know I'am being a bit stubborn about this, but it is what I see, again, some of it is play calling, and some because we run so much more early in games, but we need more short passing success, versus relying on pass pro and looking deep so much, take what the defense is giving.

That's actually a really, really cool stat sheet you brought.
even a blind squirrel
Yeah, this is a good cut of data. The 2nd quarter is what stands out to me. The most attempts, completions, yards and TD's, but also the lowest completion %, the lowest passer rating, and by far the most interceptions.

I would say this data shows exactly what yoop is saying about Love being a slow starter. His 1st half stats are significantly worse than his 2nd half stats. Ive felt hes started slow all season but this data definitely proves it.
