Favre and Rodgers didn't play like MVPs in their second year starting either. Brett didn't win MVP until after 3 years starting. AR didn't win it until after his third year starting. I doubt Love is of that caliber but if we surround him with enough talent we can win with him.

Boy I get the feeling I watched a different game today. Everyone saying we need CB and pass rushers. That was a championship defense tonight. 2/11 on 3rd downs under 300 yards, 1/4 in RZ. Only one bad series.

Our vaunted offensive genius coach came up with a game plan that gave the defense no help. Not one attempt to Musgrave. If he wasn't ready to be a part of the game plan then he should have played Sims instead who can block better. TEs in the soft zone are a great way to move the chains. Kraft's catches were mainly out routes. Didn't understand this offense at all today.

Love dropped back to pass 33 times and targeted a TE 5 times, all to Kraft. Nothing to Musgrave or any other TE. With the state of the WR corps, that’s unconscionable. WTF was he thinking? You ain’t gonna beat the No.2 seed passing to Heath and Wicks yet that seemed to be the pass game intent.

Whether that’s MLF or Stenovich, somebody needs to answer for that. How in the $%@# do you go into a game expecting your season-long underperforming WR unit to carry your offense on the road in a playoff game when you’ve got two mismatch TE threats at your disposal?

So disappointed with the offensive approach to this game. MLF had to know Philly would focus on Jacobs and they did. And his answer was to throw to his ever more depleted WR corps? WTF??

MLF had a bad game but there is zero reason for us to make a change at HC. He is the best HC I can remember us having. His scheme might be the best in the NFL. The fact is that Love has limitations as a QB that MLF needs to work around, and not only does he usually work around them, he puts us in a position to excel.

We were the 2nd youngest team of all time to make the playoffs (the youngest team being last year's Packers). Sloppiness is going to happen. And then you throw in the injuries at key positions and you get what we got today.

We definitely need to make some changes, but HC is not one of them. The WRs took a step backwards this year. The jury is still out on Love because, while he has a lot of great games, it is questionable whether or not he can put together 4 straight games without being a bonehead. He is sort of like Dak in Dallas, but better. Our championship blueprint with Love looks something like what SF has been doing: dominant defense, loaded offense, and a QB who can run the system well enough to get us there. Except Love is better than any QB SF has had, and he is a top 10 QB in this league all things considered (he just can't carry a team and still needs some coaching because he makes boneheaded decisions that cost us in key moments).

But ultimately I think what got us this year was youth/miscues and injuries. And refs. Those things got us today, and they got us in all of our losses this year. And while we were a good team, we were not a great team because we were not good enough to overcome those things. Watson was a big loss. Jaire sort of was too. And then of course during the game it was a bloodbath

This isn't meant to Rip the hell out of Love. Its just to say he isn't there yet. He also needs a little more help.

I beg to differ. Favre was adequate in the SB victory but Reggie White and Desmond Howard won that game. If you are expecting Love to ever be a MVP or Super Bowl MVP you are going to be disappointed. If the team is to win a SB with Love as QB, it is because of the D, not because of Love.

I disagree with the basis of this post. Obviously there is a first read on passing plays, but it's not like MLF is telling Love to lock in a specific guy and ignore the others. Also, it's not like they believe that Wicks and Heath are necessarily inferior options (especially Wicks, who had a worse 2nd year but still at times shows a lot of talent).

The way this offense is built (and this is the correct way to build an offense) is that Love is supposed to throw to the best read, the most open guy or whatever. The whole point of doing it like we are is to have an offense like this, and in such an offense you should be plugging in the next man up and throwing to them if they are the best option in the QB's reads.

This type of offense is exactly what has excited us fans for the past two years and has made us largely unstoppable. It's antithetical to the whole offensive philosophy to just decide to lock into another guy entirely, at a different position, because you lost a couple WRs.
