The Way a Packers Forum Should Be

IMO you can see after 2 years starting that Love‘s talent is not good enough to reach Rodgers‘, maybe it is good enough to get close to Favre. No doubt the Packers will only win a SB with him if they stock up the talent around him. We have a bona fide RB, good WR, good D, we may need one more difference maker and more injury luck. This season had an early postseason exit written all over the wall. Next. SB mission 2026 begins right about now.Pugger wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:51Favre and Rodgers didn't play like MVPs in their second year starting either. Brett didn't win MVP until after 3 years starting. AR didn't win it until after his third year starting. I doubt Love is of that caliber but if we surround him with enough talent we can win with him.

I was so angry last year. The reason was because weirdly were good enough to go to the Superbowl. We destroyed Dallas and I felt we gave it away to the niners and the Lions were not as good.
There seems to be a bigger difference this year where it seems that Philly, Detroit and MN all seemed better. I am upset we didn't improve more, the way we should have but as far as the actual games, we had a better chance last year. Its just how felt and feel.
Coming back is never a given. I figured last year was a huge wasted opportunity. We were the better team and lost.
Today wasn't as hard because we clearly weren't the better team. These type of playoff losses are easy on the heart. But 2011, 2014, 2020, 2021, 2023...those were brutal.
As for 2025, I think we have a lot of moving pieces right now. I can't say I'm calling us the favorites. There are a lot of question marks to be answered.

Good lord. Did Musgrave play? If he did he was invisible.packman114 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 20:32Boy I get the feeling I watched a different game today. Everyone saying we need CB and pass rushers. That was a championship defense tonight. 2/11 on 3rd downs under 300 yards, 1/4 in RZ. Only one bad series.
Our vaunted offensive genius coach came up with a game plan that gave the defense no help. Not one attempt to Musgrave. If he wasn't ready to be a part of the game plan then he should have played Sims instead who can block better. TEs in the soft zone are a great way to move the chains. Kraft's catches were mainly out routes. Didn't understand this offense at all today.
Nixon fumbled after he got hit in the face helmet to helmet. I still can't believe Philly didn't get flagged for that.APB wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 20:50Another maddening loss, not surprisingly.
Young team? Sure, but Nixon fumbling the opening kickoff can’t be blamed on age. A missed FG can’t be blamed on age. Throwing 3 INT isn’t an age thing. Penalties? Yeah, ok, some of those were unfortunate young player mistakes, especially those thrust into the lineup due to injury, but the holding calls and missed blocks by your mainstay OLinemen aren’t age mistakes.
This team is so undisciplined, it’s sickening.
I don’t necessarily blame MLF. Yeah, part of it lies with him as part of being the HC but if it’s me, I blame the players themselves. They have got to grow the $%@# up.
This ain’t college anymore. This is your livelihood. Hold onto the ball. Block your guy. Throw to the open guy.
FFS, just play some competent football.
One thing I do lay at the feet of MLF: offensive play calling.
Love dropped back to pass 33 times and targeted a TE 5 times, all to Kraft. Nothing to Musgrave or any other TE. With the state of the WR corps, that’s unconscionable. WTF was he thinking? You ain’t gonna beat the No.2 seed passing to Heath and Wicks yet that seemed to be the pass game intent.
Whether that’s MLF or Stenovich, somebody needs to answer for that. How in the $%@# do you go into a game expecting your season-long underperforming WR unit to carry your offense on the road in a playoff game when you’ve got two mismatch TE threats at your disposal?
So disappointed with the offensive approach to this game. MLF had to know Philly would focus on Jacobs and they did. And his answer was to throw to his ever more depleted WR corps? WTF??
Bemoan the missed call all you want. Hold onto the damn football regardless.Pugger wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 21:15Nixon fumbled after he got hit in the face helmet to helmet. I still can't believe Philly didn't get flagged for that.APB wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 20:50Another maddening loss, not surprisingly.

I'm not going to rag on him for fumbling after getting hit in the chops like that - flag or no flag. I think he is a better version of Dak. More talented and less likely to turn out a dud in a big game. But still Dak-ish in that he will make poor decisions with the ball.wallyuwl wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:22I think you overestimate Love.texas wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:15MLF had a bad game but there is zero reason for us to make a change at HC. He is the best HC I can remember us having. His scheme might be the best in the NFL. The fact is that Love has limitations as a QB that MLF needs to work around, and not only does he usually work around them, he puts us in a position to excel.
We were the 2nd youngest team of all time to make the playoffs (the youngest team being last year's Packers). Sloppiness is going to happen. And then you throw in the injuries at key positions and you get what we got today.
We definitely need to make some changes, but HC is not one of them. The WRs took a step backwards this year. The jury is still out on Love because, while he has a lot of great games, it is questionable whether or not he can put together 4 straight games without being a bonehead. He is sort of like Dak in Dallas, but better. Our championship blueprint with Love looks something like what SF has been doing: dominant defense, loaded offense, and a QB who can run the system well enough to get us there. Except Love is better than any QB SF has had, and he is a top 10 QB in this league all things considered (he just can't carry a team and still needs some coaching because he makes boneheaded decisions that cost us in key moments).
But ultimately I think what got us this year was youth/miscues and injuries. And refs. Those things got us today, and they got us in all of our losses this year. And while we were a good team, we were not a great team because we were not good enough to overcome those things. Watson was a big loss. Jaire sort of was too. And then of course during the game it was a bloodbath
I disagree with the basis of this post. Obviously there is a first read on passing plays, but it's not like MLF is telling Love to lock in a specific guy and ignore the others. Also, it's not like they believe that Wicks and Heath are necessarily inferior options (especially Wicks, who had a worse 2nd year but still at times shows a lot of talent).APB wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 20:50Another maddening loss, not surprisingly.

Personally I would have picked Favre for MVP in that SB. He was responsible for 3 TDs in that game.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:51I beg to differ. Favre was adequate in the SB victory but Reggie White and Desmond Howard won that game. If you are expecting Love to ever be a MVP or Super Bowl MVP you are going to be disappointed. If the team is to win a SB with Love as QB, it is because of the D, not because of Love.MY_TAKE wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 19:37If you want your team to win Super Bowls it helps if your QB plays like an MVP. Love is not there yet.
When Favre and Rodgers won SB's they played like MVP's
This isn't meant to Rip the hell out of Love. Its just to say he isn't there yet. He also needs a little more help.
The problem is that tose WRs were not getting open. Philly has a pretty good secondary and the front seven were getting significant pressure on Love. The OL did not have a good day, including the more experienced ones. I wanted to see more from the coaches in finding ways to get this fairly pedestrian WR group open and make more use of TEs. They did finally start getting passes to RBs. Love did not have a great day, but he had very little help from the others, including coaches on offense.texas wrote: ↑13 Jan 2025 02:24I disagree with the basis of this post. The way this offense is built (and this is the correct way to build an offense) is that Love is supposed to throw to the best read, the most open guy or whatever. The whole point of doing it like we are is to have an offense like this, and in such an offense you should be plugging in the next man up and throwing to them if they are the best option in the QB's reads.
This type of offense is exactly what has excited us fans for the past two years and has made us largely unstoppable. It's antithetical to the whole offensive philosophy to just decide to lock into another guy entirely, at a different position, because you lost a couple WRs.
3 weeks ago we heard Matt say we didn't think the Vikes would use so much man coverage, when our situation at WR dictated they would.APB wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025 20:50Another maddening loss, not surprisingly.
